Sampled from the 22 oz. bomber on October 15, 2012.
The pour is a beautiful, translucent brown tone with glistening ruby red highlights framing the glass. Low carbonation and moderate head.
The aroma is vibrant with sweet malts and a kind of cherry fruit character. There is little to no hop presence. It is mainly sweet.
The body is medium to bold.
The taste begins very sweet and malty with a low, rising bitterness at the end that has a quick dry finale. It tends to be a little on the astringent side but overall it is a likable take on the style.

Pours a really dark reddish brown with a smallish off white head that quickly dissipate to a ring on top. The aroma holds a heavy dose of caramel and brown sugar with just a hint of chocolate and a touch of earthy hops to provide an illusion of balance. The flavor is fairly sweet with lots of caramel and dark sugars being dominant. Light bits of dark dried fruits and chocolate as well as a bit of earthy hop flavor. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet tart sugary mouthfeel. This is a nice beer, but it feels more like a brown ale than an Irish red to me.
