Enjoyed in my Bell’s tulip.
Thin is the definition of black and tan — the beer itself is as black and lifeless as it gets. The head is a dense, creamy light tan, and there’s about the same amount of each in the glass.
Yikes. Straight diacetyl here. The aroma’s just packed with theater butter. I maybe get a hint of vanilla and oak, but there’s zero showing from the underlying porter, and anyway it’s hidden by the pervasive butter.
The flavor’s not as far-gone as the aroma, but it’s not much better. There’s a tiny hint of cocoa, some vinous oak, a touch of earthy hops, and maybe some toffee that emerges as it warms, but I can’t appreciate any of the other flavors because they’ve all been slathered in butter. There’s a clean finish, for what it’s worth.
Medium-light in body, smooth. Carbonation is a soft massage. Alcohol is well-hidden, but it’s hidden behind butter. So there’s that.
Oof. This might be a bad bottle, but it was a BAD bottle. Down the drain she goes.

Picked up a waxed bomber from BevMo in early June for $13.99.
Beer poured a dark brown with a nice tan head that is leaving lacing behind.
Nose is a fair amount of vanilla and booze.
Initial sips were warming bourbon and vanilla. About the 3rd sip the butterscotch became noticeable and now dominates the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat smooth.
Overall what a disappointment. The butterscotch is distracting. Quite a shame considering what i paid for it. I am a little surprised since the other bourbon barrel aged brew i had from Lumberyard was awesome. Would not recommend.

A - Pours with two fingers of off-white foam on top of an opaque, black body. The head settles at a moderate pace and leaves rings of thick lace on the glass.
S - Some thick malt with notes of dark chocolate and brown sugar.
T - Dense sugary malt up front with traces of toffee and brown sugar. Some nutty caramel comes out in the middle along with chocolate. Finishes with light coffee, caramel, and a hint of molasses.
M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a balanced finish.
D - Not as robust and flavorful as I might have hoped it would be. There is a lot of dark sugar and some chocolate but it doesn't have the rich, barrel aged character that expected.

A: single finger tan head on a very dark brown body. Nice lacing.
S: very buttery. some roasted malt, confectioners chocolate, toffee and oak.
T: again, very very buttery. oak and vanilla are strong as well. the malts are variable and hard to decipher. some earthy hops. Honey as well.
M: medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall: Way too buttery. This is a strange beer. Its sweet and butter dominant. Not really a good porter or a good beer.
