I'll start off by saying that after 3 days of visiting SoCal microbrews recently, Iron Fist has suddenly jumped into my top 5 brewery list. All-round amazing stuff from what I assume is the youngest commercial brewer in the country.
Oh...my...God...this is a good beer. That is what went through my mind when I smelled and tasted this one a the brewery. Somewhere in between a saison and and imperial IPA, this Imperial Farmhouse was the biggest and best surprise I've had in a while. First of all, this is the best smelling beer I have ever had. Fresh, plentiful hops along with a fruitiness I couldn't quite place. Another review says it is like a pineapple wine. I wouldn't go quite that far, but there is a pineapple/mango fruitiness or something to it in the nose...but it is wonderful and not weird like some fruit beers.
Flavorful...hoppy like an IIPA and tart and fruity like a saison. A big, complex beer, but remains refreshing and balanced. Long, balanced finish.
One of my new favorite beers. Unfortunately, it is not a regular at the brewery. I can only hope they have it the next time I visit San Diego...or I have to figure out how the hell to homebrew something similar.

Chill hazed burnt orange colored ale with a massive white colored head.
Smell is floral and herbal. Mineral water with some musky grass and yeast scents. Coriander is present as a green spice aroma.
Starts out mildly sweet with a stout amount of bitterness. Herbal and bitter with the Saison characteristic floral flavor. Alcohol is felt as chest warmth but not really tasted.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall not bad bad but I like Hennepin better.

A - Cloudy dark apricot, thinly bubbled head leaves to disk fast. Lots of cling around the edges.
S - Tart, a little funky, perfumed and malty.
T - Like taste, but also a little spicy and citrusy. Some band aid.
M - Medium body, good balance nice blending of flavor, good carb.
D - Pretty good, but might tire after awhile.

On tap at Haven Gastropub in Pasadena, CA.
Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thick rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, spices, and some citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with a perfume-like flavor that lingers on the finish. There is a mild amount of citrus zest bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the perfume-like flavor is somewhat odd in my opinion.
