From Bomber: no dating -looks like maybe a batch # on the bottom.
A: Pours a deep dark pale almost amber color. Definitely some orange hues. Hazy but settles nice with a tight thin 1" tan head to it. Nice lacing.
S: Sweet maltiness and caramel aromas up front. Pick up some hints of pine and citrus.
T: Big juicy sweet malt and caramel flavors which are backed up with a bright spicey and piney hop bitterness. Slight cirtus notes detectable. Definite bight and alcohol present on the finish.
M: Sticky on the tongue with a sharp bitterness and slight booziness
D: Decent. At 7.6%ABV the alcohol is definitely detectable on this one. A much sweeter IPA however fairly well hopped overall.
All in all not a bad IPA for an emerging SD brewery. Somewhat reminiscent of Lagunitas IPA only a little rougher around the edges. Sweeter and sharper bitterness at higher ABV. I would drink/purchase again for the price. Gotta support local!

This is a delicious beer, though it seems far more assertive than an "English IPA" should be. But who's counting?
Pours a deep copper with a fluffy, luxurious tan head. The aroma is clean, rich, and creamy, with an almost ice-creamy hop character. The flavor follows that creaminess, with light caramel, a grassy, sweet hop that finishes with a bitter orange citrus. The mouthfeel is smooth and milky and rich.
Lovely.

Poured from a draft into a pint glass at Manzanita Brewing Company in Santee, Calif. Color was basically caramel. About a finger of head. Light bubbly lacing on the top. Lots of film on the glass.
Smelled citrus hops, mostly lemon.
Tasted not as much as the smell would indicate. Tasted the alcohol right away. Lemon citrus hops. A tad malty and slight buttery.
Medium body. Average carbonation. Bitter, but abrupt finish.
A pretty good beer overall. Also much better than their DIPA, which I may need to knock down a peg or two.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to amber color with a light tan head. In the aroma, pineapple citrus and a small pine hop. In the taste, pine like dryness with notes of pineapple and orange citrus. A small hop bite with a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a lightly dry pine and citrus hop in the aftertaste. Big pine with a nice west coast citrus.

This is interesting for being malty but dry. A flinty taste with some sharpness. Just not sweet at all. A brambly flavor in the back of the throat. Attractive dark amber color with plenty of foam. Bitterness comes on eventually but doesn't overwhelm the other flavors. Kind of a leather aroma. A little bit hot with the sharp fruity hops.
So it's different hops and some different flavors from the American head-banging style. More murky and fruity with a less pronounced bitterness. This is like no other IPA I've had but I think it makes up with drinkability and an continuing intrigue with the flavors.

22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a brownish amber color with a creamy off-white head that leaves a bit of lacing.
Smell: Has a very mild malty aroma with a bit of graininess, and a hint of chocolate.
Taste: Malty flavor, lots of roasted chocolate and grain flavors, and some floral hop undertones. A fairly even flavor throughout.
Mouthfeel: Light- to medium-bodied; relatively smooth with fairly light carbonation.
Drinkability: Moderate ABV, relatively easy to drink.
Rather dark for an IPA, and the roasted malts seem out of place for either an American or English IPA, and really minimizes the hop profile. Unfortunately a pretty weak IPA.

Chilled bottle into a glass. From Sideswipe. Thanks, John.
A: Pours a copper-orange body with mild haziness to it. Short-lived beige head.
S: Aromas of pineapple, biscuit, mild pine. This has a strong "stale hop" aroma reminiscent of wood and biscuits.
T: I can see how this is an English IPA; that stale hop and old towel aroma I hated in Stone 14th is present here. The tantalizing pineapple aroma fails to manifest in the flavor, though there is some pine and plenty of biscuit. Boring.
M: This is fine, though there is a small alcohol burn.
O: This didn't make me angry or anything, but I got bored and didn't finish it.

22oz bomber bottle poured into DFH signature glass. No bottle dating is present on this one.
A: Pours a murky deep amber color. 1 finger white head. Some lacing.
S: Hop astringency. Not a lot of citrus notes. I guess more piney notes, but I don't know if I would say that. Good maltiness too.
T: I don't have that same terrible reviews as others. Not the best IPA or DIPA around but by no means an F beer. No extreme bitterness or Hoppiness. Pretty balanced.
M: Medium bodied
O: OK beer. Again, this is not an F or D beer. It's a run of the mill west coast IPA. Decent and drinkable.

I heard decent things around town about this brewery... Thought I'd give it a shot.
It poured murky and copper.
Just no damn goodness to be found in aroma, taste, and mouthfeel, whatsoever.
Wasted 6 bucks on a 22 ouncer.
Because its beer, I'm finishing the bottle...
Other than that I will never buy again.

San Diego has countless fantastic taco shops, which makes it impossible to understand why folks go to Chipotele instead. Likewise, with so many good brewers around town, you have to wonder how folks like Mananita and Mission Brewery stay in business. A product like this would make sense if it was priced appropriately, i.e. $2.50/22 oz. As it is, um, no, it does not.

Picked this one up at a liquor store in San Diego while vacationing a month or so back. Poured a cloudy dark golden color with a good sized white head. Aromas of dried pineapple, biscuit and piney hops. On the palate, this one is medium bodied, with juicy citrus, pine and light malt.
