Notes:
Heady like the sweet breath of Zephyrus, our India pale ale is redolent of citrus, apples, and pears, balanced by a touch of caramel. We use malted barley grown by local farmers and add a special blend of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso hops to create this juicy, hoppy ale.

A Christmas gift that has been in the fridge - the only beer in my fridge for well over a month. Yea - beer just doesnt thrill like it used to. They all taste the same and sadly, this one is no different.
It's an IPA - that uses "C" hops. How original ! ok - calypso hops are a new one for me - but evidently a "C" hop is a "C" hop 'cuz I dont detect any "new" hop flavors or aromas.

Please see any of thousands of IPA reviews here for the flavor profile of this one. Smells hoppy - has some malt sweetness in the nose, which teases you into thinking it may have some body, but despite no pasturization and bottle conditioning, it just tatses like hops in water. Aftertaste is unpleasantly bitter, but not awful. I have 16+ oz left to go on this one... now i remember why I dont bother buying beer any more. I'm completely bored by it all.

Pours a slightly hazy medium golden color with a huge cream colored head that takes forever to recede. A solid shot of citrus and pine resin aroma with a faint hint of bready caramel deep underneath along with a fleeting ethanol aroma. The flavor is bready and malty with and earthy pine resinous flavor. Light bit of yeast and a hint of ethanol round out the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous mouthfeel. Decent brew, but could use a hint more body, a bit less yeastiness and less alcohol presence to be world class.

22oz bottle into a tulip.

A: Pours maple-tinged burnt orange with a very large, thick off-white head.

S: Perfumy esters, light mint, sweet clementine and pineapple, caramel.

T: The taste brings plenty of herbal bitterness, restrained citrus, plenty of caramel and cracker malt, slight tobacco, a bit buttery.

M: Light-bodied and creamy.

O: Although I don't mind drinking this, the taste is a bit too malt-forward, and there's a smoke-like flavor from one of the hops used that doesn't do it for me. Still, let it warm up a bit and it's decent.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass, bottled on 2/11/13. Pours a dark orange, with a one inch off white head, that has excellent retention and leaves patches of lace. Smell is apricot, caramel, grapefruit, pine, cut grass, and a little bready. Taste is all of that with citrus being mixed with caramel, and grapefruit in the finish. Body is medium large, plenty of life, a touch dry in the finish, and easy drinking. Very solid IPA and stands out as different than most.

Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a thick white head. Kudos for such a great presentation!

It's heavy on the pine resin with just a mellow hint of mango behind. All that is kind of obscured by alcohol heat.

There's more of a citrus kick here, especially that of mango and grapefruit. It has to be the Calypso hops, which I've never heard of until now.

Lingering mango, grapefruit and even apple (?) at the back of the throat. Finishes with a hearty belch.

Decent. Not an imperial but certainly borders on it with the taste.
