my first beer from this brewery, not even sure where ive procured the bottle from, but i like the beer a lot. a little something different in a tripel. the pour is amazing. sudsy white head, thick as frothed milk, rises well above the rim of the glass and holds on the whole time, while the base is honey colored and essentially crystal clear. gorgeous. bright nose of belgian yeast here, and along with it i get candy sugar, lemongrass, honey, oats, white pepper, bubblegum, white grape, and clove. its bold for sure, there is a lot going on here, but it transfers into the flavor really well. seems less wheat driven than many, lacking the body or the flavor that i am used to from it, but instead it has a sweeter but cleaner base, pretty cool. there must be some non-grain sugar source in here. the yeast is a great strain, fermented warm no doubt, bringing most of the flavor here. it seems almost like it has to be spiced, but i think its just the yeast. creamy feeling, not too sweet on the back end, and with a very well hidden alcohol strength, this drinks dangerously easy. grassy hop complexion should be mentioned as well, and some bitterness does creep in to balance late. its a well made and sort of esoteric little beer. id love to try some of their others...

Pours a golden color with a generous head that lasts. Smell is somewhat yeasty (which was also noticeable in the bottle) and the beer clouded up with the deposition of the last of the bottle into the glass. Good triple.

A: Pours a hazy gold with a huge, imposing white head.
S: Aromas of yeast and spice (coriander, perhaps?) initially dominate the nose. As the beer warms and settles in the glass, subtle scents of biscuits, straw, hay, and lemon emerge.
T: Notes of bitter orange, lemon, kumquat, biscuits, yeast, minerals, hay, straw, grass, and spice wash across the palate. The finish is punchy and abrasive with lemon, straw, hay, and spice notes underscored by rather prickly alcohol.
M: Medium-to-full in body, firm, and very dry. Carbonation is active. Alcohol presence is overwhelming in places.
O: I'm not sure what to make of this ale. It comes across as falling somewhere between a Belgian strong pale ale and a tripel, but I don't feel that it can be legitimately classified as either. In any event, everything about this beer just comes across as forced and awkward, which is a real shame considering it is absolutely beautiful in the glass. The brewery needs to determine which direction they'll take this beer in the future, because right now it's just confused. Definitely one of De Graal's weaker efforts.

330ml bottle. Charles Quint Chalice glass. Enjoyed on oct´11.Pale yellow in color, foggy appearance. White, small size bubbled froth. Crown is creamy, consistent with an excellent retention. Copious rings & collars. Fruits & candies to the nose. Sweet upfront involved in spices with banana notes. Velvet, slightly citric, palate. Full body, medium carbonation. Gentle warming sensation. Smooth astringent finish. Citrics & grapefruits on the aftertaste. ABV is well hidden in such a flavorful beer.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is about what you would expect from a tripel. I get some Belgian yeast and wheat notes, but I also get some grainy notes that are not too great.
The flavor is different, but slightly disappointing. I get a lot of lemon, grain and grass notes, but I also get some tobacco notes. Not sure where the tobacco notes come from, but they do not mix well with the other flavors.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
