Offshore- Amber

On tap at the brewpub.

A- Deep amber red with a good sticky head.
S- Strong sweet caramelized malt with a heavy cracked grain aroma.
T- Sweet sugary malt with hints of caramel and cherry licorice. Nice dry grains like sunflower seeds, seseme, oat, and bran.
M- Very sweet and malty throughout with a dry hoppy finish.

Overall- Excellent amber and quite a good beer to start off my day! I see its offered in bottle form but on tap at the brewpub is truly the way to go!

This was my second beer while visiting the brewery in Oaks Bluff. An amber beer that truly did pour amber, there is about a two finger head to it that sticks around for a bit. This is a very smooth beer that starts off a bit hoppy but has a crisp clean finish to it. I was a bit more partial to the stout that day, but the Amber Ale is one I would have again and again...

The drink had a light amber appearance with a small, but pretty thick, head and eventual lacing. Slightly smoked but minimal in power aromas of malt and spice were the main smells I could pick up. The taste had a surprising citrus taste to it, but it mostly had an average caramel-like spice kick to it. The body was good though; a solid medium body allowed it to be pretty refreshing. Overall, it had some promise but was a bit too average.

Draught @ Ct River Brew Fest: This one poured an amber color with some off white head. The aroma was good. There was some malt sweetness, as well as a hint of floral to the nose. The taste is pretty good. Somewhat malty, with a touch of spiciness and a hint of dryness in the finish. A decent amber. This goes down well.

On tap @ Linwood 6/2/06. Served in a pint glass.

I liked this beer a good deal. Considering drank it after drinking an Unearthly, I was surprised snd impress at how well it stood up. It pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with a nice hear. It is juicy with a nice malt backbone. Call me crazy, but there is a little bit of a lingering saltiness as it goes down. This beer is very drinkable and, for the style, pretty interesting.

On-tap at Yesterday's in Newport.

Amber/red body with ashort white head, leaves a little lacing. Smells of sweet amber malts. Taste is a touch fruity and finishes with well-balanced hops. Somewhat comples malts in the middle. It was hard to put this one down. Just a very nice session beer and an excellent amber.

All in all, a somewhat underrated amber. Give it a try, you'll like it.

Deep amber color--bronze or copper shade. Good head retention-thick lace clings to sides of glass. Astringent, coppery smell that is kind of bleach-like- not too uncommon on some of the smaller brewpubs/breweries. I have noticed it from BBW so why wouldn't I from Offshore?

Taste-wise it is dead-on or spot -on for what it is trying to be. Dry mild amber ale. Buttery character but dry and clean-there is some malt which is much more evident than any hops. Dry. Mouthfeel is dry and pleasant but dry. Not exactly my favorite style but clearly a good example of what its trying to be and quite smooth. I cant think of too many Ambers I would favor over this one.

Clear yellowish-orange with a rocky, creme-colored head that slowly settles to a creamy cap and tight lace. Lightly sweet honey and cocoa. Sweetened hot chocolate, really. In the flavor the malt is dominant with a toffeeness and the hops offer a nutmeg-like spicing and earthy character. The finish has a surprising roasty bitter feel in the mouth like coffee. Medium body and carbonation. Decently drinkable.

Overall a respectable beer that seems to walk the tightrope of non-offensiveness. The flavor leaves something to be desired for me, but such is the norm for most amber ales.

Pours with a two-finger white head that fades quickly and leaves a good lace. Light golden amber color. Good carbonation. Nose is hoppy; starts on the hoppy side, finishes crisp and clean with some hoppy aftertaste. Actually brewed by Cottage City Brewing Co. according to the label. Very fresh, found at Colonial Spirits in Acton, MA - $1.90 for a 12oz bottle.

Not a bad brew...cloudy copper appearance...head dissipates quickly. Sweet malty aroma...taste imparted an initial sweetness followed by a crisp citrus-like quality. A bit too much dryness in the mouthfeel, but easy enough to drink. Overall, not a bad offering.

Appearance: A rather nice amber witha decently thick off white head.

Aroma: Caramel malts, sublte brwon bread, bits of citrus eminating from the hops. Way in the back is a twinge of carob.

Taste: Smooth mouthfeel with a light sticky texture. Notes of toffee, caramel malts, small amounts of citrus fruits. It's fairly malt forward the hops are simply there to give it a little bit of balance.

Notes: Tasty all the way around. Cheers.

Poured a 1.5" white head which quickly disspated to a trace. Slightly hazy amber color. Not a lot of smell other than ver mild malt. Taste is a BMC lager along with a slightly crisp bitter finish and a little malt. All in all a ver average beer, just slightly cool because it's from Martha's Vineyard.

A- Amber bodied ale with a foamy off-white head. Decent retention from a good size cap. Random spotty lace.

S- Mostly get a buttery nut brown caramel malt profile. Not much in the way of hops.

T- Pretty much follows the nose. Mostly malty with toasted nut, butter and caramel hints. Some hops lending earthy and grassy notes. Some fruit flavors (apple). Definite grain and corn as well.

MF- A bit of a foamy, light watery feel with moderate carbonation. Slight bitterness.

Not really what I was expecting but a decent amber ale. More malty than hoppy with some Brown Ale influence.

This was a curiosity to me when we received a sole case of it at the store I work at. Per usual, I refer to my boss when a new product comes in that peaks my interest, and ask him "how it is".

I've been on an amber style kick for a few months now, and this beer is fairly local, paired with my boss giving his recommendation, I decided to give it a spin.

A pleasant surprise, I fell in love with it. Really nice balance here, with some citrusy notes, but nothing too overwhelming. It's really one of the best beers I've tried in a while, and when we have it in, I recommend it to any of my customers looking to try a new, easy drinking brew with a good amount of character.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle

A - Pours a light brown with hints of cherry color; bright white fingers worth of head, nice sticky lacing

S - Malt forward, a light fruity nose, yeasty

T&M - Good carbonation and medium body. Heavy malt presence gives a thicker feel, but a nice hop zing balances it well with a citrus flare. The yeast is giving this a sort of nutty flavor that mixes with the fruit notes - can't quite put my finger on the fruit...apples?

D - Smooth drinking, interesting flavors and a reasonable ABV; I can see having more then one

A: Amber-orange, with fluffy white head, good lacing.

S: Almost adjunct grain sort of smell, but saved by some sweet malt.

T: The malt is sweet, not much of a hop bite at all. Very grainy tasting, not bad.

M: A medium body, good enough carbonation to make it smooth and enjoyable.

D: Might get sick of them after a couple, solid overall.

I received this beer from TheManiacalOne in a BIF, thank you. Poured into a pint glass at 39 degrees.

Appearance: There is a one finger light white head that has some retention. The head is creamy and foamy. The color of the beer is a medium amber color with orange hues. The clarity of the beer is hazy. There is some lacing left behind from the dead.

Nose: A moderate hop aroma that is floral, and grapefruit. The malt has a slight caramel note.

Taste: A light hop flavor with wood, floral, and some grapefruit notes. The malt, has some caramel and biscuit tones.

Mouth feel of the beer carbonated and slightly dry.

Overall: This is a good hand crafted amber ale, I am very glad I got to drink it.

A- Body is a quite hazy uniformly translucent, bright, rusty amber hue. Pours with a 1/2 finger or so soapy white head with great retention. Traces of lacing left behind in the glass.

S- Nose is very mild and offers what a typical amber ale has. A hint of citrus, some earthy hops, and a hint of malty sweetness.

T- Flavor profile is mild as well. Herbal and earthy hops seem to come through the most but a sugary sweetness and some malt come through as well. The finish is sweeter than the initial flavor and a vegetable like sweetness lingers for a little bit.

M- This is where the folks at Offshore really did a great job. Moderate tingly carbonation and a very smooth medium weight body.

D-This meets the standard and presents as a decent overall amber ale. The mouthfeel is exceptional and it is a good looking brew-but other than that it really doesn't offer anything exciting. The flavor is certainly unoffensive and this is a drinkable amber ale.

Lightly hazed dark amber with a 2 finger white head. Good retention leaves droopy lace stuck hither and thither.

Lightl floral aroma with honey sweetness over a heavier caramel underneath. Toasted malt like syrup covered waffles. Taste is similar 2 layered sweetness that produces sort of candy fruit ester with a perfect amount of hop spice in back. Successfully walks the fine line between juicey and malty, albiet barely. Effervescent carbonation seems to work here.

Well for the past week we where in Cape Cod so I thought I would pick up a 6'r of this. Brew pours to a amber-golden color with a pretty thick slightly off white head that has good retention and left some nice lace. The aroma is fairly sweet, caramel and toffee. Not much in the way of hops as far as I can tell. The flavor is fair, it seems to be quite a bit sweeter than I like and than I think it should be. Possibly I got an old 6'r because again I am picking up no hops here and I think if they where there they would calm down the sweetness that I don't care for. I will try this brew again, made it through the 6 with out much problem but I will say that I am a little underwhelmed with this one.

A: Partially clear with lots of sediment, amber brown orange color with 1 finger head

N: Very light with some malt and spices

T: Sweet malt and slight earthy marzen taste, its got an extract sweet taste that somewhat ruins the beer, slight nutty and spices, mostly slight malts and nuttiness

M: Mouth is semi light with decent head

F: Finishes pretty dry with some spice and malt, not much for bitterness, more of the extract sweetness

Final thoughts: Not much to this beer, lots of malts, not really any hops, some spices and nutty flavors, not bad for a session beer but the taste is so-so
