This is a great place. One of my favorite places to go. They have great selections of freshly brewed beer and I cant say I have ever had one I didnt like.
Excellent place to bring a date. Its location is in a nice and safe area where you can walk around at night. They have a roof top you can sit at in the warmer months.
The food is pretty good. They are creative and everything is good. American Food and American Beers.
I love how they always try to do something new. They are innovators and they are good at it. Every time I leave I can't wait to go back. There aren't very many places that make me feel this way

I cannot say enough good things about this place.
It's got a great feel, a nice comfy atmosphere.
When the weather is nice, and the patio is open, the rating for atmosphere goes thru the roof!
So many options of where to sit.
The quality of the beer is around average for a brew-pub. They've got there standout beers, but you can also get some really average ones.
The staff has always been really nice.
The reason I give the selection a tough score is because they don't really have much besides their beers. But thats why you should be going there... to get their beers.
The food is great, and the prices are great!

a very cool place in a very cool town, drove down from a conference in Amherst to have dinner here last night. funky little place this Northampton, gov't mule playing near by, place crawling with dead types, lots of funky cafes and eateries, good stuff. this place was a little hard to find, as its tucked back off the main drag and obscured by a parking garage. smallish at first when you walk in, but you notice clever and character rich architecture, little nooks and comfy seating in front of a wrap around bar. upstairs eating and beer garden as well. 8 or 10 beers on, a couple of guest taps. the beer was all good, alpha project single hop cascade ipa was the highlight by far, a cool series they are running. food was also nice, gourmetish white pizza and squash crostini, but wasn't perfect, good effort though, and props for the local farm partnerships. the best part here is the service, my bartender was a real good human being, generous to a weary traveler with samples, remember most people by name, being conversational, interested in beer, and actually bought me my last pint, a total class act. goodluck to you my friend in fatherhood by the way! overall an affordable and enjoyable experience, if you can tolerate the red sox fans...

I had dinner here last week while on vacation with the family, this was our second trip to this brewpub. Situated just outside of the main drag in Northampton this pub offers a huge bar as you first walk in with dimly lit tables and a small stage for live acts. One seating are on the other side of the bar as well as tables on the second floor and a rather large second floor deck with seating under the umbrella. A half a dozen or so house brews as well as a few carefully chosen guest taps make a nice tap selection. The food was pretty good, a step above pub grub without being too pretentious. I really enjoyed the spicy sausage flatbread. Service was a hint on the slow side, but it was an oddly busy Sunday night. Pricing was as I would expect for the quality offered, I would return.

A favorite spot to eat outside in warm weather and enjoy their fine beer selection and better than average food.
Inside is not bad either, especially if it is not too crowded or you don't mind eating in their fun mezzanine or the newer glass-enclosed dining room. The bar area is a smallish half moon that can get rather cramped on weekends but is great for socializing.
Live music on weekends adds to the enjoyment. Tonight there was an Irish group playing lively tunes from the Old Sod.
Prices good for Northampton, which is a restaurant mecca with some pricey spots (when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were still attached, they ate at an Italian place downtown during a local film shoot). Most of the menu is reasonably priced, and the four beer sampler for $8.75 is a pretty good buy if you want to try some of their usual selection of eight to ten different brews.

Interesting place, several rooms including an outdoor deck. I tried the rye ale and their IPA, both were very good. The food menu has the usual selections. I had the chili, which was chunkier than I like it (personal preference) but the heat was just right. Guy next to me was having the fish and chips and he said it was excellent. Can't beat $4.75 a pint for fresh beer!
I will definitely return!

Went here a few times during my four years in Amherst and Northampton. The beer is usually solid and priced well. They have decent guest taps as well. The growler I purchased once was fresh and drank very well at home. The atmosphere can be a bit obnoxious because it is smack dab in the center of Northampton, usually packed at night and loud, I would expect a wait for food on weekends. Service was always good, maybe a tad slower due to the crowds but to be expected. Food is a bit overrated here IMO for the price you pay, it is decent but overpriced. A staple of the area but expect it to be busy and go for the beer. Many other amazing restaurants right around the corner.

Went here as part of a beer mini vacation for which it is well suited. The Dirty Truth didn't open for a couple of hours. Took the family for pizza (real pizza as opposed to Vermont pizza). Then while the family was occupied at the great dollar store and eating world class ice cream I ran across the street and was greeted by one strange looking building, which looks like it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It was chilly and rainy, the down stairs bar was dark. Went up to the deck, which would be awesome (had it not been rainy and chilly). I was impressed that they had some outside guest beers and went for an Element, which I never saw on tap before. And then had their retro lager which was probably the best I've had a brew pub. Did not eat, only had two beers (while the family was otherwise occupied)- but I will be back.

Visited the Northampton Brewery as part of a Western MA brewpub crawl. It was a beautiful day outside so we opted to sit on the deck. Deck is well done, most of the seating is covered, and they have a mister going during very hot times. Great place to hang out and have a beer. Inside seems comfortable/relaxed as well. The food and beer both are decent, but not spectacular. For a brewpub sistered with Portsmouth, you would expect a bit more variety and flavor in their beers, but the ones I have tasted were pretty middle of the road. The food is tasty enough, but nothing outstanding. Reasonable mix of normal pub food with some vegetarian offerings thrown in. Service was good all around. Prompt refills, no delays in getting food or attention when required. Selection was average. As mentioned before, the beer selection was pretty ho hum, most of the self brewed were of the liter variety, with the only darker/more adventurous offering the Black Cat Stout. Prices were reasonable and in line with the food offerings. Most beers were available in 8, 12 or 16 oz pours, so you have choices if on a budget.

We stopped in for a pint after a fairly long bike ride. The deck was open so we made our way upstairs. What a great space, half covered with canvas and half opened to the sun. It was full even at five o'clock. We went to the bare area which didn't have a lot of seats unfortunately. We ordered very reasonably priced (4.50) pints and stood out the very busy servers way. My Belgian Pale Ale was okay while the small sips of the IPA and ESB my wife and sister ordered were much better. I'm sure we'll come back sometime. hopefully to eat on that great deck.
