Picked this up in Arkansas (Liqour World in F'ville, AR)

Pours honey colored with a pinky of pearl colored head. Decent lacing & average head retention

S: lemons,leafy & herbal hops, pineapples & perfumy

T: Follows the nose, pears & breadyness, some leafy hop profile as well. Some pineapple as this warms, leafy hops, breadyness & pears, plus dryness. Finishes with leafy & dry hops, a touch of caramel & a modicum of pineyness

MF: Medum bodied, slight carbonation, great balance

I like this, but have never tasted some of these flavors in a citra hopped beer. Perhaps this is old, no freshness dating. Still, damn tasty & super drinkability!

Trying the Single Hop Citra Series from Hermitage and quite honetly I was hoping for a bit more. This beer is not bad....good in fact....just was hoping for a bit more. The beer poured a cloudy copper with thick white head that is lacing nicely. The scent is powered by fresh hop that favors pine and spice. The taste is has a twang of bitter citrus throughout but there is a battle between a sweet malt and hop throught the beginning and middle, in which the malt loses iin the end and the bitterness lingers on the pallet. The mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a decent IPA....I wish I had some of the other single series available to compare....that would be cool.

A - pours a clear orange with a fluffy head and nice lace. No bubbles.

S - mango, tangerine, very mild floral and a soft generic hoppyness. No cat pee. No dankness. Very soft malty note. Pleasant, but somewhat reserved, probably due to age.

T - is like the aroma with a relatively low sweetness. It has a firm bitterness that is balanced by a trace of sweetness. Enjoyable flavor.

M - medium body with low-medium carbonation. Creamy. The bitterness lingers for a relatively long time and has a pleasant anesthetic quality without crawling down my throat and ruining my day.

O - as far as single hop Citra brews go, this one is refined without being wimpy. It avoids all the potentially negative aspects of Citra (according to me, but others like the rougher characteristics of Citra). I couldn't find a single thing wrong with this beer and enjoyed it quite a bit.

When I picked this bottle up from a local Binny's I thought it was a new beer from Hinterland. Not quite...

A: Hazy dark orange amber in color. Forms a large, stable, off-white head that leave a copious amount of lacing on the way down.

S: The aroma is very pleasant, with a sweet, juicy, citrus forward character. Mandarin, mango, passionfruit, and orange.

T: Damn! How can the aroma and flavor be so divergent? The taste is harsh and disjointed. Bitter and metallic with a good dose of caramel malts. There is a slight orange sweetness, but mostly the hops are just harsh and abrasive, showing little more than an unpleasant and unrelenting bitterness. I am a fan of both strong bitterness and heavy hops, but I also appreciate flavor and balance and this beer has neither of those.

M: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Aggressive bitter to the point of astringent with a harsh, tannic quality.

O: Well, it doesn't look bad and it smells pretty good, but the taste is far from spectacular.

This is a IPA, India Pale le, it has a lot more Hops. This beer smells citrusy. It has a taste of tangerines. It has a small white head. The color is brown amber. There is not a bitter taste as you drink it and has a dry finish. This beer has a medium hold against the glass. I personally like the bottle with its label.

I really liked this beer. It had a small white head atop its golden slightly murky liquid, that later stuck to the side of the cup. It had a strong citrus aroma that was very pleasant to the nose. It had a medium slightly sticky mouth feel. It was still and easy to drink and would definitely get it again.

-cloudy amber color with a light tan colored pillow-y head.

-smells pretty nice. some good citrus hops: orange and clementine. after the initial pour, a bit of a sting comes in as well

-the hop flavor is right at the front and then just kind of mellows out and doesn't leave a huge bitter bite. it is kind of nice because the malt sweetness comes into the middle and blends in with the citrus flavors

-mouthfeel is fine for me and pretty standard

-this beer is surprisingly drinkable for the hermitage beers, especially considering it was from BevMo which means:
A - it is probably not that fresh and
B - it definitely was not refrigerated

i would bet that fresh from a keg this stuff is pretty stellar. it goes to show you the wonderful powers of the citra hop

Poured from 22 in pint glass. Purchased at BevMo in Emeryville, CA.

A - cloudy, orangy, lunar eclipse color. very cloudy. nice brown-tinted, warm head. Kinda looks like an amateur homebrew.

S- nice lemony, citrusy smell, touch of pineapple. Malt bill comes through.

T - aggressive bitter IPA with balls. Citra is strong, but certainly lacks a smooth character. Malt is lighter than aroma predicts. Clean, quick, dry finish.

M - nicely carbonated. I think its slightly "Sticky".

O - A really nice aggressive brew. Not for the faint at heart, but a great summer brew in my opinion.
