Notes:
A robust porter aged in dark rum barrels. The sweetness of the rum infused barrel dominates the palate - hints of vanilla and chocolate follow.

Bottle to snifter
A - charcoal; dark; light beige head that stands up with froth; some bubbling present; dissipating lacing
S - brown sugar; rum; vanilla; sweet cream
T - chocolate rum cake; burnt sugar; sweet rum notes; light cocoa-like malt
M - carbonated; medium bodied; frothy; a little flat
O - this is a pretty interesting take on a porter aged in rum; it's tasty and smooth but the smell is superior to the overall finish and flavor of this beer. Pretty palatable for a 9% rum barreled beer.

Poured into snifter.
Appearence: Dark. Tan head that quickly shrinks to just a ring around at the walls of the glass. As I drank it, I noticed that no lacing was left on the glass.
Smell - Sweet. The rum is showing that it is there. Also some dark fruit and vanilla.
Taste - Rum but not overpowering. Can get some chocolate flavors as well. After a few sips, can not get more of an alcohol "burn" as well as a bitterness that was not there at first. Mild and also not overpowering that seemed to stay a bit at the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel - Can feel the carbonation on the tongue very lightly. Very smooth.
I liked this beer. Some of the rum aged beers I have tried had the rum so overpowering that all I could think about was the rum. Here the beer is still tasted and the rum just shows how the two work together.
