Thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is sweet, some citrus. Taste is also sweet, mild, some citrus, a bit of apple, kind of unusual for the style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Poured from a can into a weisse-vase, the beer is an unfiltered, pale, yellow coloring with a filmy white surface coating. Aromas of bread and grain in the backbone, with citrus sweet highlights and some interesting herbs and spices. Flavors are very well blended, with a smooth, tangy overall character. Roasted bread and grain backbone is highlighted by tangy sweet citrus and a calming smoothness of chamomile. There are some subtle clove and all-spice highlights as well, but everything really marries smoothly. The body has a nice, smooth mid-full feel, which allows the spice blend to linger through a decent aftertaste, transitioning to a slow, smooth finish. Tasty brew.

12 ounce can. Thanks Joe D for the sample
Enjoyed in a tulip, it pours hazed and muddy, with an almost greenish olive oil tint. Large off white head, that stays nicely. Then leaves thick cling and strands of lacing.
Lemons and assorted light citrus on the nose.
Flavorful wit, more oranges, wheat and moderate yeast on the palate.
Hops on the back dry things out nicely. Maybe a bit thin mouthfeel wise
Nothing amazing, but this is a decent tasting, worth trying wit. Suprised by some of the low ratings people have been giving this one

Glass: Hotel glass (half pint, half snifter)
From: Wilbur’s Total Beverage in Fort Collins, Colo.
Price: Part of a variety 6-pack for $9.99
Purchased: May 2, 2013
Consumed: May 2, 2013
Misc.: N/A
Poured a golden clear color with one finger of gray head that dissipated 75 percent within minutes. Very bubbly underneath. Minimal lacing on the sides. Average retention on the top all the way down.
Smelled apple, grapes, green tea. I try for more sniffs, but it keeps coming back to apple. Can get some orange rind and tangerine as well. Fruity and refreshing. Also cinnamon and other spices.
Tasted like a mix of apple and green tea. Cinnamon comes in there as well. Reminded me a bit of Apple Jacks cereal. Also lemon grass.
Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, watery, clean and refreshing finish.
Nice beer for the summer. I may have rated this a bit low.

Beautiful nose on this hazy pale straw Wit. Reminiscent of chamomile tea with wheat and sweet fruit. The taste however was somewhat disappointing. I'm not a real big fan of Wits, but when done right they are quite refreshing. This Wit has an odd spiciness that, combined with the spritzy carbonation, just didn't do it for me.

The LavaLake Wit has a interesting twang to it. The beer poures an clear yellow with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The smell includes a lemon zest with hints of grass. The taste has an acidic flare to it with lemon and blood orange seemingly dominating the taste. The mouthfeel is average....lighter in body with decent carbonation. Overall this is not a good wit and I would not go seeking to have this beer again....It should also be known that I'm not a huge Wit fan.

12 fl oz can served in a weizen glass, reviewed live:
A - Pours a transparent straw golden color. No yeast visible. It's got a soapy white, one finger head. You'd be hard pressed to differentiate this from a BMC based on appearance alone. Far from appealing.
S - Very, very light floras and citrus notes. Honey and (maybe?) soap. Light spice. Very mild but not unpleasant. Better than I'd thought it'd be.
T - The light floral notes I found on the aroma taste nearly identical to soap. Straight soap. It's hard to find any other notes beyond it. Lemon and bland base malt. Simple and poorly executed. Doesn't even fit the style. Watery. Where's the spice? Where's the yeast?
M - Watery and flat.
D - Why would you even put this on the market? This is the first beer I've had from Crazy Mountain and I'm not impressed.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on January 26, 2013
The color is a kind of olive oil yellow, cloudy and hazy, with a moderate fizzy white head that settles down.
The aroma goes in many directions with wheat, oats, yeast, lemongrass, citrus, brown sugar, and a little spice.
The body is creamy with a light -medium texture.
The key elements in the taste are the wheat and the citrus with a slight hop bitterness at the finish. Very interesting anyway.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. White head, moderate retention on a golden straw body with a very light haze. Not as unfiltered as I would expect from a wit. Aroma includes some clove and some banana-ish, bubblegummy sweetness. Taste is slightly sweet with some clove notes and maybe even some hefe notes. Not the most perfect interpretation of a wit but pretty tasty and I'm sure agreeable to most.

A - Poured out a hazy, golden color with a good deal of bubbliness. It had a two-finger off-white head of foam that left sudsy sheets of lace.
S - It smelled of coriander, spices, yeastiness and wheat.
T - Lemon, coriander, spice and cracked wheat. There is a touch of yeastiness.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied wit. Dry finish.
O - This was good. I had never heard of Crazy Mountain so I picked up this can while in MN.

A: no head really with some lacing on a relatively bright golden clear body.
S: mild lemon and orange peel citrus, musty grains and pale malts. a little medicinal
T: very light with pale malts, light lemon sweetness, grains finishing with an almost 7up or champagne sweetness.
M: light body and relatively light caerbonation, definitly under carbonated
Overall: drinkable but the flavor isnt that impressive, its undercarbonated and not at all memorable.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a clear, golden body. The head settles quickly and leaves little lace on the glass.
S - Musty, sour malt with a touch of sweet coriander in the background.
T - Dry, grainy malt up front with a hint of honey in the middle. Finishes with a. Strong herbal note of coriander and a bit of chamomile.
M - A moderately light body, fairly low carbonation, and a dry finish.
D - Not bad, but way too light and with a kind of over the top coriander presence in the aroma. However, I do like the touch of chamomile in the finish and I think if it had a thicker body and proper carbonation it might be a pretty decent example of the style.

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a light hazy straw colored with a very thin white head. A few occasional bubbles rose from the bottom dancing around the haze. Aroma was slightly wheaty, with a bit of lemon hiding in there. Flavor had a bit of fruit, maybe orange peel? with a little bit of a bitter spice kick at the end. Coated nicely, with just a bit of carbonation. Overall flavor was kinda funky, couldn't place it however, not necessarily bad, just a bit funky.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Thanks to twiggamortis420 for this can!
Now, the fish that live in a lake of lava are actual matches for fishermen... Anyway, this stuff pours a partly hazy pale lemondrop topped by over a finger of white foam. The nose comprises apple pie filling (cinnamon and all), light cracked wheat, and a kiss of extra coriander. This is a bit odd to me, but still pretty pleasant. The taste makes a return to a more traditional witbier vein with notes of cracked wheat, coriander, light black pepper, light clove, light banana, and a touch of orange peel. There's still some spikes of mild apple flesh in there, too, but they're downplayed here. The body is a hefty-leaning light, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly crisp finish. Overall, despite the spice rack ala mode sort of presentation, this was a pretty nice little wit. I'm not sure it'd be the first I'd reach for (were that a reality), but I certainly wouldn't turn another one down.
