Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a vibrant, slightly hazed, caramel-amber coloring with a thin, even coating of white, filmy head. Aromas of rich, roasted toffee sweetness with a dry hopping balance that provides some peppery spicing and bitterness. Flavors are richly sweet, with an overall roasting that provides a richness to the caramel and toffee sweetness that provides the backbone. Hops are an accent here, providing a spiced reign on the sweet main profile. A bit more bitter as you venture into the aftertaste, with some resiny character joining the pepper spice. Smooth and robust in mouth, the beer has a smooth, lingering finish that leaves the tangy caramel hanging on the palate. Tasty brew.

12 ounce can w/o freshness info being offered

A: Almond amber, with a muted ruby hue. Darker khaki head, loose and larger bubbly. Leaves nice looking scattered fields of fine lace and some thicker froth.

S: Malty nose with vanilla and honey

T: Smooth malts, more honey and vanilla. Ample resiny hops late. Balance has been achieved.
M: Nice, carbonation on the lower side adding to smoothness and easy drinkability

O: Real nice amber, worthy sessioner. Nicely done.

From a 12 oz can (dated, I think, February 10, 2013) into a tulip.

A-A normal pour produces two fat fingers of light khaki head with nice retention and some lacing. The brew is clear and deep amber in color with a few streams of carbonation crawling up the glass.

S-Upon first sniff, I detect a fair amount of roasted, grainy malts and a touch of toffee/caramel. The brew is lightly sweet with some earthy, pine-scented hops for balance.

T-The taste is a little weak up front, with only a faint hint of toffee and caramel from the malts, but a nice spicy, earthy pine flavor comes through on the finish.

M-The brew is water with a fine prick of carbonation. It is medium to lighter body for the style.

O-This is a perfectly drinkable amber ale. The smell is pretty nice and while the flavor is a bit of a letdown, there is nothing upsetting or crazy about this Crazy Mountain brew. I would happily drink this again if the occasion called for it.

Tawny with impressively stiff (can pour) creamy off white head.
Nutty brown toast and Cascade citrus/pine on the nose.
Big caramel Crystal hit and pleasant waxy lemon rind hop hit.
Toffee finish and orange peel linger.
Light side of medium, some chew, creamy.

Perfectly sessionable amber. Not ground breaking, but buy it by the case in the summer. Good citrus aroma hop hit, fitting for an APA. Cloys a bit when it warms, though; keep it cold.

I like the crazy mountain Amber ale it is a very good version. The beer poured a copper clear with thin slightly offwhite head that is leaving a lace. The scent carried rich caramel malt. The taste is a great balance between teh rich sweeter malt and bittering hops. The mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this rivals some of the better ambers I've had. This would be a great session ale.

Honey-biscuit aroma rises up from a solid gold body. The head appears thin yet persistent and leaves spotty patches of foam on the glass. Not much carbonation rising from the glass. Getting back to the aroma: rich and grainy and infused with a light floral hop background. The taste is rich and flavorful, emphasizing the biscuit and caramel grain notes. And despite the can's labeling, there is a light yet not overpowering hop bitterness midway through the sip and hanging on through the finish.

This makes the grade as a quality, journeyman-quality amber ale. Nothing distinctive per se, but fits the style, goes down easily, and is definitely worth repeat visits.

Crazy Mountain sounds like my favorite ride at Euro Disney... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear sunset amber topped by a finger of off-khaki foam. The nose comprises lightly-toasted biscuit, light earthy greens, and a kiss of cocoa. The taste brings in more of the same, with a touch extra toast. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slick feel. Overall, an okay amber, but too toasty for my tastes and nothing close to spectacular beyond that. Average all the way.

On-tap at The Boulevard, on to the beer:

A lovely amber color sits in the mug. Colors of orange, brown, and red are visible in the mug as well. To top that is a head which holds its ground, and leaves good lacing. The nose screams fudge, and there's a wave of tea-like hoppiness too. A hint of cocoa adds an extra simple note to the nose. It smells more like a hoppy altbier, but I'm not complaining.

Taste is fudge upfront. Lemon tea notes sit in the background. A bitter ctirus note arrives and lingers in the aftertaste with the fudge. It feels like a battle between flavors on the palate, though in this case the result is a little bittersweet. It's light bodied with a pleasant crispiness.

A fine amber ale. My one nitpick is that the hops are a bit aggresive to the maltiness, yet it's still an acceptable brew to down.

Decent sized light tan head leaves a biscuit like small mound in the middle of the glass above a clear copper with a hint of red colored beer.

Light caramel malts mix well with citrus to pine hops in the aroma of this amber.

More light caramel malts with pine to citrus hops taste this is not overpowering but well balanced and easy to drink.

Light caramel aspect on a somewhat dry aftertaste on this medium bodied amber ale.

A very easy beer to drink with some good laid back qualities, I think I could go through a 6 pack in a relatively short period of time.

12 oz can pours a hazed copper color with a small cap of white head...not much retention or lacing.

Nose is plenty hoppy...grassy and floral with a significant nutty-caramel malt backdrop. Maybe a little honey as well. Smells ok, but I cant help but think a more tropical hop varietal might have served better.

Taste throws out some more floral hop flavors with a fair amount of bitterness. The malt is more toasty than sweet and the yeast plays a little bit of a factor in the flavor...perhaps some sourdough bread. Not bad, I was expecting a bit more from a new CO canning operation, and I do like the wit they do more than this.
