Sampled at the "Summer's Here" Brewfest in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Saturday, June 16th. The name presumably was inspired by PC's location in Pullman's Old Post Office.
Very dark brown, almost black in color, with a light tan head.
Smelled of modest amounts of coffee and cocoa.
A little bit sweeter than the smell indicated, with the chocolaty elements of the flavor coming to the fore, but with a coffeeish, roasty bitterness keeping things from getting too sweet. Finished on a dry note.
Fairly typical mouthfeel for the style. Medium bodied, with a tongue-coating, sticky mouthfeel.
A pretty good stab at the porter style. While not a worldbeater, I'd definitely have no fear of ordering this when in the mood for a porter

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark, nearly opaque, chestnut brown with a thin tan head and ring around the glass with light lacing. Aroma of sweet and toasted malt, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Flavor is understated toasted malt, bitter coffee and chocolate. Subdued, but nicely balanced. Semi-dry finish with residual toastiness and hints of coffee and hop bitterness. Medium bodied. A nice, mellow porter with a decent diversity of flavors; fairly low key but a nice finish. I enjoyed this with dinner and liked it more as it warmed.
