Dive bar with a great selection. They have the most impressive draft list on their website. The website lists not only their beers on tap at both locations and ABV but also the ratings from BA and ratebeer.com including the links to both sites reviews. I was very disappointed to find that this list was no where to be seen once there. We were told to look at the taps to order our beer. I quickly lost my patience and just asked what they had from a brewery that I cannot get at home. The staff was a bit slow but nice. The food was pretty decent for the price. I was advised by the server to not stray from the menu due to the particular cook that night (which worried me). I had hoped to buy some bottles to go but selection was small. As the "Downtown" usually implies, there is only street/garage parking. I loved the 1/2 price draft happy hour which is 7 days/week! If only every bar had 1/2 price specials...

Great place. I was visiting from Pittsburgh and I'm ashamed to say we don't have anything like this from a quality/price standpoint (I'm not even so sure from a quality standpoint). Really good, and smart, tap selection. Many special release Dogfish Heads, great Belgiums, and some really top shelf IPA's, etc... Owner is a really cool dude, I sat and BS'd with him for hours about beer and football. Only slight knock is that it's not a place you would want to eat so hit one of the other spots nearby for grub.

The new shadys in downtown Harrisburg is a step up from the old one in the atmosphere. There is no smoking which allows you to enjoy the beer much more. There is also more seating than midtown shadys. I would like to see more from the take out instead of four loko and joose or bmc products, but the place just started a few weeks ago. The 36 taps is great, but would like to see the bmc taps gone because bottles of them are carried, the taps should be devoted to craft only. Could also use more food options like wings and other foods that the midtown one serves. Only problem is that some of the beers are a bit pricey $ wise. Still a great addition to downtown Harrisburg.

2nd Street has a new look and it's called craft beer. Great location on 2nd just a few doors down from Neato Burrito!

A long awning labeled Shady McGrady's Downtown welcomes you as you arrive. Once you walk in there are three coolers on your left with take out options...mainly macro six packs and 45's. A long, marble, "L" shaped bar is present and it sits about 12-15 people I'd say. A few tables are located in the back. It's very clean and modern.

The selection...wow...the selection. 36 taps look you in the face. There were only three "lower" taps...Miller Lite, Lager, and Guiness. There were about four import taps. That leaves the other 29 taps to all macros. The selection ranges from locals (Weyerbacher, Troegs, Sly Fox) to everything else (Stone, Lost Abby, Flyingdog, Bell's, Oskar Blues, Avery, Boulder, Ballast Point, Smuttynose, Dogfish Head). I think you're seeing my point. They also have a few bottles, mainly bombers (Dogfish Head Theobroma and Bitches Brew). I enjoyed a Stone Cali-Belgique and a Wild Dog Coffee Stout.

The service was great. I was able to have a great conversation with the owner. We talked beer and business. The bartender knew what she was talking about. Since I was overwhelmed by the selection she asked what I like (IPA) and she was able to list and describe all the available IPA's.

As far as the food, I did not try it this time. They have a decent pub menu and they also run specials. The medium stromboli could easily be shared by two people (only $8!).

They run a great happy hour from 4-6 everyday with half price micros. I wish I would have been there for that! BUT...I did receive a Stone pint glass with my purchase of a Stone draft.

Again, a great place in downtown Harrisburg to get to. The owner was saying the other location is going to have happy hour from 6:30-8:30. So why not go from one Shady place to another Shady place!?!?

I had a few bucks and a just got off work so I stopped in for a quick beer. The cool thing about the new Shady McGrady's downtown location is the happy hour is 1/2 off micros. The beer I chose Avery's Maharaja was only 3.50, a lot better than 7 after happy hour. The place is the former Mercado's and is pretty decent with marble topped bar and stylish lighting with a long narrow interior and bar. They have similar theme - arcade games, top shelf liquor and sports posters in frames like the Verbeke St. location, but 36 taps with only a couple light lagers.

The selection is the best part and the fact that you don't have to inhale cigarette smoke and can actually taste your craft beer. They have a standard menu with wings and 6 other apps with a sampler with any 3, salads, wraps, pizza and hoagies. He was bringing in some Bitches Brew - the new Dogfish head bottled offering for $17 a 750mls. I will return for wings and a pint during happy hour- not a bad deal at all.

Finally...36 taps with 32 craft beers in Downtown Harrisburg!!!
Comfortable atmosphere with a non-smoking bar. This is a typical City Bar layout, narrow and long but enough room to move around.
To the draft beer selection...a slew of heavy hitters that makes you think before you choose (Stone, Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, Bells, on and on). Giving craft beer drinkers a reason to come downtown. Each person who walks in says the the same thing, "Look At All These Taps...."
The service is great (familiar faces from the Mid-Town location).
7 day a week happy hour 4-6...all craft beers are half off (a great time to get a Sculpin).
If u want to smoke, you can bring your beer outside to the tables and chairs (great people watching).
And they sell food (hoagies, pizza, etc.). For all of you Jersey/Philly transplants, they get their rolls from Philly...try a cheesesteak.
A must see stop for all craft beer lovers.
