Style | ABV
Robust but not overbearing, dry semi-sweet chocolate aromas fit perfectly with this cold weather beer style. Robusto is well balanced with flavors of coffee, chocolate and toasted almonds.

A - Dark chocolate color with a healthy sized, creamy, frothy, smooth, light cafe colored head. Pretty good retention leaving a whisper of sticky lace.
S - Typical porter aromas with a dry, semi-sweet chocolate and slightly sweetened coffee aroma providing most of the punch. A touch on the weak side, but I think this is more due to the aromas being delicate, especially the charred aroma which is more toasted to charred than charred to burnt malt.
T - Similar to the nose. Starts with a semi sweet chocolate, touches of black coffee and mocha. A toasted/slightly charred malt with hints of breadiness and caramel. A very subtle astringency on the finish, but it doesn't linger. Not too sweet, but not too charred or bitter. Pretty well balanced, but definitely on the lighter side (more delicate) of flavors for porters.
M - Matches the flavors/aromas well being a lighter body and feeling porter. Light to medium body with a touch above average carbonation. Not really super creamy or smooth. It ended up not being as off putting as I initially thought and I ended up enjoying that it was a little lighter at the end of the glass.
D - Well made, balanced porter. A little on the light side which makes it easy to put a couple down without getting too full. Nice flavors overall but nothing really sets it apart from a number of other porters.
Notes: On-tap at Sanctuary. This was a pretty good porter. Nothing too special or revolutionary but I felt it had a good balance and it wasn't too bitter or astringent. Would be a nice introduction porter or one that you could have a couple in a night. It's fairly light, a little sweet (nothing close to say a sweet stout but it doesn't have strong bitter/astringent coffee/burnt malt flavors). Not my favorite TG beer, but a pretty good one that's worth a short if you see it.

This was had on tap at the Sanctuary into a pint glass.
Appearance- The beer is an opaque, dark-brown that came to the table with one finger of dense, mocha colored head.
Smell- The biggest notes are definitely chocolate, more milk chocolate. I am a little surprised I am not smelling more roast or a toasted malt. It is pretty sweet.
Taste- Chocolate is also the biggest note on the palate. It comes through more sweet, like milk chocolate. The roast is here, unlike on the nose, coffee grounds and sort of earthy. The sweetness also is creamer-like in nature.
Mouth feel- The feel is done well, a solid medium body. It is very creamy and slick.
Overall- This porter is good, but it needs some work on the palate. It could definitely benefit from more roast to counter the sweet chocolate quality of the beer. Heck, they could even up the chocolate profile if they really wanted.
Dark chocolate might have been a better flavor choice. As it stands, it is a very good, sweeter example of the style.
