Notes:
Zelicious single-hop showcase using the Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. Delightfully confusing aromas of citrus and mandarin oranges give way to an incredibly complex body of earth tones and marigolds. This is truly unlike any hop you’ve ever tasted.

Growler from Casonova in Hudson. drinking 32 hours after the pour and carbonation is strong...perfect actually and if I were to complain I would say slightly too much head on the pour...
I'll cut to the chase. This is a kickass IPA. I am generally real sensitive to the catty/onion/garlic notes from some hops...Summit...and Nelson Sauvin depending on how used. The first impression here was "catty"....but damn it anyhow if as I drank this I really came to love it....some passion fruit and sweeter citrus started to mingle in....not sure what they do with their malt bill but it is perfect for an IPA.
I love the pure hop flavors this exhibits...I think the IBU's are high but it does not have much pure bitterness as all....just a lot of pure hop flavor....
It is also the perfect weight/ABV in my opinion for an IPA....not like a pale ale like some of the sessionable IPA's these days....but also not a big beer where drinking 13,14 becomes problematic :)
Like I said I am generally not fond of "catty" IPA's...Surly Abrasive is an exception....Laganutis Sucks also pushed those boundaries as well and I am a big fan but generally I would not be a fan for most of this ilk...my scores should reflect just how impressive I feel this beer is.

Growler courtesy of Chris (steepH20)...thanks kindly!
Looks just the way I like it....glowing orange with a frothy cap. Enticing enough that the growler was opened before Borrythebear could arrive. Apologies Borry.
Goddamnit I need to stop reading descriptors before drinking beers. Mandarin orange? Okay, I get it.
Juicy up front with onions in the rear. Reminds me of a time in high school when I was feeling a bit...er...experimental. You see, I'd try anything once and well...
Sticky and nectary like...carbonation on the low end.
Very appreciative to Chris for the opportunity to try this and Kyle for making this happen. You know who you are you crazy beermonger.

Growler shared by Todd. Served in a Russian River tulip.
A - White foam settles to a thin collar, wisps, and specks of lace. Hazy peach flesh body.
S - Huge tropical fruits, peach, zesty citrus, white grape, perhaps a hint of onion. It's New Zealand hops alright; probably Nelson Sauvin. Like the rest of these Toppling Goliath beers the malt character is quite subdued.
T - The taste isn't quite as complex, but it's still quite nice, with a mix of white grapes, tropical fruits, and perhaps a bit of tart gooseberry. Malt imparts a bit of sweetness, but it's still well in the periphery.
M - Medium body, soft, lower growler carbonation. Quite pleasant, with a dry, crisp finish. No discernible alcohol.
D - This was quite excellent, and I hope Toppling Goliath makes it at least semi-regularly. Really easy to drink, and my favorite of the growlers that Todd so generously supplied. These guys know hops.

growler poured into a duvel glass
look is a pale amber yellow. smell is herbal and floral, taste follows with tangy pine and citrus as well. there's a good amount of sweet toasty malt in the finish. medium carbonation is medium, feel is a light medium with no cloying syrup feel.
