On tap at Lucky Baldwin's. Medium brown, orange highlights. Not much head. Smells strongly of smoke. Taste is well balanced even with smoky (almost bacon) flavour. Incredibly tasty, medium body. A really good smoked beer. Not insanely drinkable, but definitely enjoyable. "Quaffable".

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,
A: Pours amber with a soft white head, good lace.
S: Phenolic nose, medicinal, very Belgian.
T: Weird. Originally when I tasted this I got all bubblegum, very hefe-like. Today I get a spicy, rye-like smoky ale. Good tasting for sure both ways.
M: Smooth, light/medium-bodied, frothy, this doesn't feel like 8.3% for sure.
D: Another winner from Craftsman, keep 'em coming.

Medium orange color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is fruit, orange and malt. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are spicy. Orange flavors throughout this beer. Nicely balanced. Very smooth. No alcohol bite at 8%. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Sampled at the 2003 San Diego Strong Ale Festival. (4 ounce taster glass)
Beer pours light brown in the glass with great clarity and a tan head that holds to the glass.
A sandalwood hop aroma comes charging out of the glass followed by a soft brown sugar malt.
Flavor is chewy caramels with little toffee bits accented by a lightly puckering hop bitterness that leads to a dry palate with sweet sticky lips.

On-tap at Lucky Baldwin's
A: The pour is a dark amber color with a tan head.
S: The nose is quite smokey and salty with a big of a woody/bacon/nut aroma to it.
T: A ton of smoke, wood, and salt flavor to this that is somewhat astringent and not all that pleasant.
M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: Not the most intense of the smoked beers I've had, but you still have to really enjoy the smoke to want to drink too much of this one.
