Beggar's has a great selection on tap with at least ten microbrews. It has reasonable prices for beer and food overall, but pricey compared to the two dollar pints, or half off food deals that pop up at nearby places. It is not the typical college bar, despite its location right in downtown East Lansing. The feel is much more laid back than the surrounding alternatives. However with some specials like 'Wine Wednesdays," where all wine bottles are half off, it can get pretty lively. It also closes earlier than many other places, so don't plan on late night Founder's pint.

I have only been here once, but this place is a classic college town staple for East Lansing. East Lansing is small but has a good college town atmosphere, somewhat old school and pure Big Ten! My family tried out a total of four dishes and all of the food was good. Not the best, but no disappointments. Some of the sandwiches are actually superb. The beer tap selection is what makes this place. They had a lot of craft beers on tap. When I visited that had somewhere around 20 beers on tap. They had a decent bottle selection as well. I would definitely come back just to drink some of the taps. Typical Michigan crafts that are excellent, such as Bell's and Founders. Some smaller brewers as well. It was like getting a little tour of Michigan without all the driving!
