2012 vintage. 22 oz bottle served in a Southern Tier tulip. Thanks to ASUbeer for the bottle.
A: Pours a hazy amber color with a yellowish head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly leaving behind some splotchy and soapy looking lace.
S: This is super fruity. The chestnuts are really upfront. The bourbon is there with a nice spirit sweetness and some oak barrel as well.
T: Very fruity, just like the nose. The chestnuts give this earthy, fruity twang to this. The bourbon is there with a touch of heat. Some fig notes with a sweet jam like fruitiness as well. Mild glue on the finish with a sweet malt base. Light roast.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation level. Sweet and fruity finish.
O: This was an extremely interesting beer. The chestnuts gave this crazy fruity dimension that I haven't really had in a beer before.

Appearance: Pours a golden burnt orange/yellow with a minimal head that lingers a bit.
Smell: Agree with a previous reviewer on the smell: smells a bit like a fruity vanilla yogurt at first, with hints of bourbon on the end of the nose.
Taste: Bourbon hits you up front, very warming. Nice oak flavors follow, and ends with the taste of figs. Beer tastes a lot higher than 9.5% to me.
Mouthfeel: Not highly carbonated, which I prefer in this style.
Not a bad beer, definitely a unique strong ale.

A - Pours a translucent brown and slightly amber color with a bubbly white froth. A twirl of froth remains up top looking like the top of a twister on a cool spring afternoon. Really nice lacing remains on the glass throughout.
S - Just a great blend of many scents here. Some caramel, bread & malts, hints of boozey bourbon (but not overpowering), fig, cherry, a faint nutty character, some raisins and dates as well. Nothing truly overpowering which was very nice.
T - There's the bourbon on the forefront which leaves quickly and the fig and malt character comes in on the finish. Some bits of vanilla bean and oak come through. Very faint on the oak.
M - medium to high carbonation but smooth going down. slight fizz on the tongue but good texture.
O - A very nice strong ale. I liked it very much and highly recommend it. The booze isn't overpowering and the 9.5% will sneak up on you.

Tap at good bottle co. Light orange/gold pour, thin layer of white, sticks just a bit.
Aroma, vanilla yogurt covered red fruit. Some pineapple. A nice oak or light bourbon presence.
Taste a little fruitcake sums it up well. Oaky vanilla, caramel accent well and boldly. A great balance between the fruit, malt and barrel.
A tad above mid bodied. Carbonation about right. Warming; so a bit of a sipper.
Pretty nice, probably fits best in this category.

Considered an old stock ale,I put it in the American Strong Ale category.Poured into an oversized wine glass a clear amber/bronze with a very well defined white creamy head, poured with a nice bead and nice head.Toasted oak and vanilla mixed with drunken figs in the nose,I like that the aromas showcase what's in the beer,it's pretty boozy.Very smooth and it feels lighter for a "bigger" beer,it slides down easy.Dark fruit and sweet alcohol on the palate,it's like a whiskey soaked fruitcake,to me it has more of a Canadian whiskey character to it with it's vanilla and fruitiness to it,the alcohol is prevelent. What a nice CHRISTmas eve beer to have, it's a sipper but not a heavy sleep inducer, another top notch Fullsteam offering.
