The new name of this place is the Park Lane Tavern but I believe the concept has not drifted too far from The Pub.
The restaurant is a decent size and its decor is an attempt at creating the British pub feel. It's relatively successful, although it is a bit too kitschy and almost tries a bit too hard (e.g., all of the wait staff wear kilts). I've visited several times now and it is typically clean and well-kept. It has a big, pretty bar that stands out as the central feature -- as it should. The wait staff are pleasant and at least try to be helpful.
As for the beer selection, it is typical and about what you would expect with a few surprises. It's a great place to get a properly pulled Fuller's ESB or a Young's Chocolate Stout. Victory, New Belgium, and Heavy Seas selections are often on the beer menu. They typically have a cask offering, which is a definite bonus (most recently this was the William Bros. Midnight Sun Porter). The also have a "steal this glass" night and a mug club.
Food is decent and consistently fine. Recently Tuesday nights have been 1/2 price fish n' chips. I can say this is a good deal as the fish is pretty good and the chips plentiful (although not traditional "chips"). They do have a nice chicken, apple, and brie sandwich, as well as some "British pub classics" like Shepard's pie. All in all, it is reasonably priced for what you get considering the area and location (prices tend to be slightly higher in the Peninsula Center shops).
As an aside, they have a good selection of bourbon and scotch and offer flights of three of your choice for $14 with a spring water back. I've taken advantage of this of a few times after a beer or two and can say it is well worth it. So if you want to venture outside of beer for a moment, you will be pleasantly surprised on the whiskey front.
This place is not too far from my house so it has become a popular place for me to stop with my girlfriend a few times a month. If you are in the City Center, it is probably the best choice for a good beer. Do not be prepared to be overblown by selection, but beers are poured properly, glasses are clean, service is decent, and the atmosphere is generally pleasant.

Park Lane (a.k.a. The Pub) was my favorite place to eat in the Hampton Roads area. I recently moved, but I anticipate living there again in a few years and I look forward to my next chance to eat there.
The menu is an excellent match of familiar favorites and European offerings. The beer menu is terrific and they have different stuff on cask from day to day.
Their wine selection is terrible, but I never went for the wine.
I ate there at least once a week when my ship was port and many times I would eat there several days in a row. I always spent too much and drank too much and I always was sad to leave. Well almost always. In three years of being a regular, I had to leave disappointed only three times. All three times due to new waitstaff with bad attitudes. I never saw any of those three employees again and I believe it is because management recognizes bad service quickly and only keeps top notch help.
My food was always top quality.
I highly recommend Park Lane in Hampton and I can't wait to go back there for some great suds and great chow.

The restaurant is similar to an upscale British Pub with a modern twist. It is about the best you can get in Virginia, since there is no smoking in restaurants.
Some nice beers on the menu and several more on tap. The food is limited and think run of the mill British pub food. We went for "steal the pint night", which turned out to be more of a "buy the glass night".
Overall disappointed. That being said I would probably go back, but just for the beer selection (it is the best in Hampton). There are much better places to eat in walking distance.

It was almost exactly what I expected it to be. A faux-pub that is run like a club with traditional british/irish beers that can be found just about anywhere.
They do have some nice beer bar touches though, for instance, they have a cask ale USUALLY (it was drifter when I was there), and it is a very nice bar.
Service, food, and cost are on par for the area, so I would reccomend it for just about anyone.
If you are looking for authentic pubs or rare english beers, I would not come here, but if you are looking for a cool environment to drink a black/tan or hoegarden, then this place isn't bad.
