12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

Pours a copper color with a 3 finger pillowy head with good retention. Good color and clarity. Aromas of sweet fruits with a hint of grain. Bready whiffs also come through. Taste is nutty and decent. Some sweetness comes through as it warms. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. Overall this is decent. I like the sweetness this has.

A-Pours a clear copper color. Nice head. Big and creamy. Frothy and tan. Lots and lots of lacing too. Looks great.

S-Really, really light. A bit of caramel. Not getting much nuttiness...actually I am getting some hazelnut. Subtle chocolate. Sweet breadiness.

T-Quite sweet. Caramel and an underlying off-sweetness that is slightly off putting. Toasted bread. Crushed liquid nuttiness. Cream soda.

M-Light bodied. Semi-dry. More booze than you'd expect. Soft carbonation.

O/D-Not in love with this one.

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a Harpoon pint glass.

A: Poured a medium amber-brown color with a two-finger head of frothy, tan foam. Clarity was good, carbonation fairly strong, yet lacing was minimal.

S: Sweet and a bit earthy with notes of hazelnut, topsoil, raisin and cocoa powder.

T: A semi-dry and sweet, nutty malt flavor hits up front giving off toffee, caramel and some mild chocolate flavors. This gives way to some grainy, bitter herbal hops before washing down with some lightly metallic and lingering sweet flavors.

M: Clean, light to medium-bodied brown ale with a slightly metallic bite in the finish.

O: Not a bad brown ale at all and one that fits well besides Mike's other English session ales at Cavalry. I'd like to see a little bit more sweetness early in the palate and a bitterness that's more malt derivative than grassy hops. It's a welcome addition in my book.
