Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. From a mix a six.
Pours hazy dark copper with immense white foam. WAY overcarbonated, and the foam sits and stalls. The waiting game. Light faint sweet caramel nose. Orange there too. Taste is a thin malt. A touch funky, if not woody. Hop bitter tossed about in the midst.
A mess. All over the place.

I was quite surprised with this selection. The taste of this beer was not too strong yet not too subtle. Right in the middle, right amount of hops and the mouthfeel was pleasant. Though the color and appearance were a little deceptive; thought the darkness of the beer have more of a dark beer taste. It was very good and pleasing.

A - The beer pours with one finger of white foam on top of a hazy, copper colored body. The head fades away quickly and leaves light lace on the glass.
S - Bready malt with some toasted notes and just a hint of floral hops.
T - Toasted bread and herbal hop flavors up front. Some toffee comes out in the middle with a bit of red apple and fades away, leaving toasted grain and light bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium-thick body, moderately low carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.
D - Drinkable enough, but nothing to get excited about.

This beer poured a hazy orange tan body with a huge white head.
Nose was pretty simpe with some caramel malt and fruit smells.
Taste is medium to light bodied with a sour and dry carameand biscuit malt flavor. Very huge carbonation, however for cavalry this is pretty mild. Decent bitterness that balances well. Hops have a good earthy and mild citrus note.
Probably the best of the cavalry beers. Mild, yet its got some bite. A good session beer.

What better of a time to get my first taste of Cavalry Brewing is there than Memorial Day Weekend? Into a pint glass on 5.28.11, this pours a clear and bright light amber under a foamy well-sustained head. Aroma is a mild one with light notes of sweet toasted pale malt and flowery hops. Upfront yields a stingy mouth drenching bitter feel in the "English Bitter" fashion that shortly heads toward a smooth and crisp but robust malt center. A solid earthy bitter hop resonance nicely shows in the finish. I also detect bready, light zesty lemon citrus, and mild dry cocoa powdery notes in the end as well. Looking forward to trying some more Cavalry brews soon...

12oz bottle with a code 022211; sounds like the bottling date.
A very nice amber, slightly hazy, with a 2 finger head of foam.(served at cellar temp)
It smells of bready malt with a nice side order of lemon citrus.
The taste starts on the sweet side, follows through with a fairly big chunk of bread, then brings some nice notes of lemon citrus. Slightly bitter at the end but more on the bready side with what tastes like toffee? Blindfolded, I would have guessed this was a beer from the UK.
A nice slickish mouth feel comes from the medium body and carbonation. A very nice and solid brew that I find very easy to drink.
Thanks goes out to Chris at Grand Vin for his super good service and an excellent choice of beers to throw in the box pro gratis!

Appearance: 1 inch head, tan in color, clear, high carbonation
Smell: toasted malt, caramel, and fresh meadow
Taste: caramel, dry citrus hops, toffee, and fresh meadow
Mouthfeel: medium-light bodied, sweet with a bitter middle and a less bitter finish, medium-high carbonation
Drinkability: The smell is wonderful, but the taste does not appeal as much to my senses. This has a taste I associate with English beers. A decent beer that I could do a couple of in a sitting.

On tap @ 121 Restaurant, Oxford CT
Nice to see a beer brewed in my home town. Hatch plug pours a warm golden amber. The nose is all bread, quite mild. The taste follows suit with toasted bread with a mellow hop accent. The finish is thoroughly malty, think buttered roll.
Mouthfeel is a pretty slick, with a medium amount of carbonation. Excellent session able beer from Calvary, a refreshing change of pace.

New CT brewery! Sweet!
A : pours a nice dark gold. Looks like there is a lot of carbonation from bubbles. Beautiful cream colored head, quite thick. Thick head stuck to the sides of the glass throughout.
S : smells of bread. a little yeasty with an almost nut undertone. No hops present.
T : it is sweet up front with a mild malt flavor. the sweetness lingers, and is followed by a subtle and long (but still subtle) hop flavor. There is a hearty bread flavor that is unique and as I continue through the pint I have found most enjoyable.
M : although the appearance seems like it is over carbonated, the mouthfeel is pleasant and non-intrusive. well done
D : quite drinkable. the style here says mild english pale ale, which seems right on. I can drink these all day.
This is a really nice, easy to drink beer. Nothing crazy and extreme, but a good solid beer. I'll be enjoying more of these come spring...
