Served out of a 22oz bomber, the beer pours with a thick and foamy head. The beer is a very pleasant copper-gold color. There was a disappointing lack of aroma on smell of the fresh pour. The flavor of the beer was hop-forward on the tongue, but it was an over-bitter hop flavor. It tasted "green", if that makes sense. Typical IPA aftertaste, but the bitterness and alcohol make this beer one to enjoy slowly, and in moderation. It would be difficult for me to consume more than 2 or 3 in a sitting.

after a whole lot of BMC drinking in vegas, I was dying for an ipa, and this is what I scrounged up. the pink label made it look a little gimmicky to me, but its an ipa right? right. its got a copper color to it, a little redder than I expected, and a decent white head that doesn't last as long as it should. the nose is bitter hops with some freshly juiced orchard fruits. a really nice complexion for an ipa, with a minimalist sort of grain bill veering in the amberish direction. the flavor isn't quite as good as the smell, it has a sort of coiny mineral heavy twang that ruins the finish a little bit. good bitterness throughout, although the fruity side of that is more lively in the nose. I will say that the alcohol is extremely well hidden here. it can be tasted only in the finish, and still then its subtle. it does pack a good kick though, especially next to some coors original, so lookout for that. fine carbonation, a little thick on the body, and a slightly off aftertaste. overall this will satisfy your ipa spot on the strip, and im thankful for that, but this is not a beer id recommend you sit down and gamble with, could lead to some poor financial decisions.

Orangey dark amber in the Duvel tulip. Plenty of suds and a nice foam. It's even quite well carbonated opening the bottle again the second evening. A little hazy but no trace of sediment.

Nothing hidden about the alcohol. It's hot and spicy. Very warm and malty with a sharp tang. Dark cracker flavors with some roasted grains and plenty of malt. The hops are more on the fruity side, with pineapple and mango. Some resins but more spicy than dank. Bitter enough so you don't forget it's in the IPA family, but civilized in its bitterness.

Certainly drinkable even though it should be called a Double IPA. Warm malt, hot booze, and fruity. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Whole Foods in Chandler.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a clear amber with a light white head, good retention, hints of spotty lace.

S: Light on the aromatics, but some nice grapefruit and citrus.

T: White grapefruit and melon rind with some lemon. A more direct bitter IPA than the Hop Ride, with a bit of ethanol in the finish, you know you're drinking a bigger beer.

M: Medium-bodied, oily, slick, soft feel on the palate.

O: A solid 2IPA, this is categorized wrong, if this is priced well, it could be a go to when I see it in bottles.

Thank you Rizalini for the bottle! Loving this trading stuff and trying local to other people beer.

A - Poured into my Founders tulip. Murky golden orange. Some hops floating around in the bottom. Is this homebrew?

S - Nice hoppy scent of deep citrus, mild pine. Sweet malt backbone follows.

T - Deep citrus taste like mango and papaya. Not your typical grapefruit taste. Loving it. Malt backbone hits in the middle. Sweet hoppy wet finish. Loved it.

M - Full bodied as expected from the murkyness of the beer. Good mouthfeel.

O - Interesting hop taste, not the normal citrus. Some fruits that I don't normally eat. Followed by a sweeter wet finish. Really enjoyed this.

Fresh bottle brought back to southern California by my girlfriend's parents and given to me to try. Poured into a tulip glass.

A - Pours a hazy orange-ish amber with a thick off-white head of foam that leaves some spotty blankets of lacing as it clings to the glass. Nice retention from start to finish.

S - Pithy aromas of melon, citrus rind, and tropical fruit. Red candy and malty sweetness provide a nice balance. The fairly high alcohol presence adds a nice boozy quality to the mix.

T - A thick hop profile blankets the palate upon first sip. There's an underlying candy-like sweetness throughout, but the deliciously sticky hop bitterness prevails.

M - Perfect amount of carbonation with a full-bodied, oily, and slick feel.

O - Very enjoyable. All of the sweet and bitter flavors combine wonderfully to create a memorable IPA.

Appearance: Monsoon pours a misty golden russet, with a white, robust and fluffy inch-thick head, which leaves a nice stiff lacing. There's plenty of sediment in my bottle.

Smell: The immediate scent is of nice, fresh piney hops. After that the beer seems quite bitter, with citrus fruit rinds, perhaps a touch of toffee, and a surprising shot of alcohol. The beer is quite malty too. As I drink it, biscuit becomes apparent.

Taste: Getting past the malts is the trick, and then the fruit rinds come in. There's caramel in there too. The alcohol kicks in right at the end, clipping the hops.

Mouthfeel: Monsoon is surprisingly thick in the mouth. The carbonation is just about on the light side, and it's my opinion that this beer could use a little more fizz.

Overall: The beer is nice and simple, and I'm glad it feels robust, but the flavours don't really seem to blend in with each other, making the beer a discombobulation and not at all satisfying. I feel like the beer is a little less than the sum of its parts.

Golden amber with an off-white head, bit of retention, nice lacing.

Nice leafy, hoppy aroma, plenty of pine, some rind, tropical fruit, sponge toffee & candied pineapple.

Pine, grapefruit rind, mango, papaya, candied pineapple, sponge toffee, biscuit, good bitterness (gentle, but it lingers), alcohol is subtle.

Light residual sweetness, slightly creamy, with plenty of hop acidity, alcohol dries the finish a bit.

A fairly easy drinker for the style... could use a little more 'punch'.

Bought a 22 oz from a liquor store in Las Vegas. It's a solid big IPA that holds up nicely against its Pacific Northwest, San Diego, and NoCal cousins. The color isn't quite a red IPA nor as light as a Pliny. It's big in alcohol with nice hop aromas and tastes all around.

Cloudy amber with copper highlights. Big white head.

Fresh hop scent, nicely bitter profile. Creamy malts, but a rather harsh alcohol background.

Hoppy taste, but a bit fresh. The malts are mellow, somewhat creamy. The alcohol in the nose doesn't really show up in the flavour, except just a hint at the end. The flavours seem unsettled and sort of come-and-go and don't really blend well at times.

Nice mouthfeel, but a bit of a big one to drink.

A- Pours a hazy golden amber color with a thick foamy cream colored head. Head has very good retention and leaves some really nice lacing.

S- Fairly light and tame. A nice variety of hops make themselves known with pine and floral leading the way. A very strong sweet malt back bone. A bit more sweetness than I'd prefer.

T- Taste follows the nose pretty well. Again a very strong malt back bone. A touch of alcohol here too. Hops are pretty solid with pine leading the way here.

M- Medium in body and carbonation was right on.

O- Not too bad at all and nothing crazy priced either. I'll probably pick this one up again down the road sometime.

Someone brought a bottle of this to The Attic a few nights ago for a tasting. I had no idea there were so few reviews. I don't know how difficult it is to come by, so I'm glad to have a chance at it.

The color is a moderately hazed yellow-gold. A white head settles nicely to about a finger and retention is good, as most of it remains for a good, long time. Some lacing is left in a mixture of spotting and patching upon the beer's recession.
Hops aromas are a mixture of pine and floral with just a touch of citrus peerking through. Eventually the floral note takes the lead. Malts pull through with more sweetness than I'd expect, primarily caramel but with something a bit like candied fruits.
In the flavor, things shift a little as hops show more of a raw, earthy edge. The sweetness pulls through strong again. A bit of alcohol slightly distracts as it moves into the finish.
The feel is pretty good, but alcohol draws out a touch of astringency. Otherwise a crisp bite is there as well as smoothness in a medium body, and it's pretty bright.
Overall, the alcohol kick shows up in the flavor but without it I'd be hard pressed to push this from IPA to DIPA territory. I like it and for me, unlike some, a B is a B/ It's good beer.
