Style | ABV
American IPA |  7.20% ABV

Availability: Year-round. bottle (35), on-tap (3)

Notes:
Our Hop Ride India Pale Ale is medium bodied and aggressively hopped using a technique called 'dry-hopping' which adds a nice delicate citrus aroma. Combine that with Magnum & Summit hops to kick up the bitterness, and Cascade hops for a floral boquet. You get a well balanced and very drinkable American IPA. We live in Las Vegas and enjoy the areas beyond the reach of the neon. Bootleg Canyon MTB Park is one of those places. Be Warned, the rattlers have just as much bite as this ale. If you want to ride there, its going to be a "hop ride."

a clean light amber pour with copious amounts of head, lots of nice looking lacing.
scents of caramel, grassy hops, 2 row, and a slight passion fruit scent.
an earthy bitter flavor up front followed by sweet caramel, bready malt, and lots of citrus.
a medium body pour with creamy mouthfeel and nicely carbonated.

a really nice ipa. very earthy and bitter but at the same time sweet and citrusy, which makes this a pleasant drinking experience.

Appearance - Pours a slightly foggy amber with a finger width of foamy white head.

Smell - Piney hops, caramalts, tropical fruit.

Taste - Moderate bitterness from Cascade hops, along with caramalt and tropical fruit flavours. Hits all the key notes.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall - An enjoyable American IPA by Tenaya Creek. Hits all the key flavour points for the style. Wishing that the hops were more predominant in the aroma, but it did come through in flavour.

22oz bottle. The label blurb has an unintended, yet amusing non sequitur, which describes a hop-dosage technique called 'dry-hoping'. I'm certainly sure that it is.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden amber hue, with two fingers of puffy, meaty, and cushioned eggshell white head, which leaves a low storm cloud front pattern of lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of sharply bitter grapefruit pith and pine needles, a bit of mango and pineapple fruitiness, bready, sort of grainy caramel malt, a twinge of dry alcohol, and a further herbal, leafy hoppiness. The taste is lessened fruity bitter tropical notes, more grapefruit rind and forest-floor pine tree droppings, cereal grain malt, a growing musty earthiness, and a not-so-subtle herbal liqueur warmth.

The carbonation is adequately supportive, the body a pleasant medium weight, and generally smooth, the lingering hops having a wee bit of fun at its expense. It finishes off-dry, the pithy fruit of the tropics hoppiness melding with the residual bled-out caramel malt.

An agreeable enough Yankee IPA, once you accept the fact that typical west-coast bitterness is not in the cards here, though the local tropical fruitiness does well to recommend itself. Nice to see this brewery's offerings on the shelf way up north here in Alberta - the last time I was in Sin City, I thought 1-dollar tall-boys of Tecate were the shit. How far we have both come since.

Orangey amber color with a nice foam in the Duvel tulip. A brief aroma of malt and some flowery hops. Plenty carbonated in the mouth. Light bodied. A fair amount of malt. Slightly sweet. This actually tastes like all three Tenaya Creek beers I've tried. Earthy flavors, sweet plain malt, and murky overall.

The hops are the dank sort with a very low aromatic profile. Brewer says this is brewed with Magnum and Summit hops. Some bitter aftertaste and a gummy feel in the mouth. I'd have to say this is the kind of IPA favored by low-rent breweries and brewpubs that hope to offend no one. Maybe it's the Sunbelt IPA style. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Whole Foods in Chandler.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a hazy orange with a medium white head, some nice rings of lace.

S: Pungent tropical hops with definite citrus layers, hint of watermelon.

T: Lemon, pink grapefruit, citrus zest and papaya. Lots of great fruit character from the hops. Delicious and very West Coast in style.

M: Medium-bodied, resiny, yet fairly clean on the finish. Crisp carbonation.

O: A stellar IPA, this can stand up to the best of CA, loved this beer.

Fresh bottle brought back to southern California by my girlfriend's parents and given to me to try. Poured into an imperial pint glass.

A - Pours golden amber with a slightly off-white, soapy head. Great retention from start to finish. A thick cap of foam leaves some patchy lacing on the glass.

S - The aroma is somewhat spicy and peppery up front. You really have to stick your nose in the glass to get some of the details. Herbal, floral, earthy pine, tropical and citrus fruit hop aromas are balanced by under-ripe melon and a prominent sweetness with a bready, cracker-like malt profile.

T - A fairly intense bitterness blankets the sides of the tongue, but it's quickly cut by a nice wave of malty, bready sweetness. The hops resurface, leaving that bitter-sweet melon aspect that the aroma promises. The flavor sticks around on the palate long after each sip.

M - The mouthfeel is slightly oily and slick. The carbonation is just right.

O - Very enjoyable. Lots of thick hop bitterness, but it's all nicely balanced by a malty sweetness that perfectly compliments the assertive hop profile.

Thanks to my brother in law for this one!

Appearance. Pours a lightly hazy gold-amber with 1.5 fingers of white head that leaves some great lacing.

Smell. Some floral and fruity hops, but not a ton. Plenty of sweet caramel and some grainy malts along with some strange fruit smells including apples and grape juice (?).

Taste. Floral hops with a little citrus, lots of sweet grainy caramel and some herbal bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, medium amount of fairly smooth carbonation.

Overall. Not really what I look for in an IPA, but was nice to try.

A: Pours a yellow orange
S: Pineapple, lemon
T: Slight iron or metallic, peppery, tootsie roll, hops and malts are balanced, but I prefer the hops to dominate.
M: moist and refreshing

Good but not my favorite type of IPA. Overall, I have been pleased with Tenaya Creek.
