Visited brewery on 2/12
The color is dark brown; a full inch head was found here; smells nice and spicy; there are subtle hints of nutmeg on the nose too; this tastes real gingerbready, which I love; very good, not overly sweet beer; moderate sweetness overall; very easy to drink; really good balance of taste and complexity; NICE!

On tap at the Denver Bicycle Cafe.
A-This beer had a pretty unique color. It was lighter than I expected with a dark orange/brown hue. The brew was quite foggy with a minimal, white, creamy head.
S-Smell was loaded with sweet holiday spice and gingerbread. Seriously, this beer smelled like cookies in the oven. Just a touch of alcohol hiding underneath the cookies and cake.
T-Taste followed the smell for the most part, i.e., lots of sweet baking spices and gingerbread. The only thing that reminded you that you were drinking beer and not eating cookies was a slight bite of bitterness on the finish.
M-Lighter bodied brew for the style with mild, fine carbonation.
O-I like cookies and I like beer; ergo, I liked this beer. That being said, it was a little one dimensional with the gingerbread and it felt almost novelty-like. If you want your holiday beers to taste like cake, this is a good option. Perhaps a bit more body and complexity would take this beer to the next level.

a unique winter seasonal from strange brewing. pours a clear black/brown color with a minimal head. smells like a gingerbread cookie, with clove and molasses notes on top of a basic american style brown ale. flavor is only mildly spiced, not it your face at all, and the malty flavors of the brown ale compliment the seasonal spices perfectly. mouthfeel is good, fuller bodied and appropriate carbonation. has a strong slightly burnt finish like a good black ale. nice beer, definitely my favorite from my visit to strange.
