on-tap @ Henry's Tavern.
from notes.

Hazy dark golden with a thin white head and light lacing.

Big citric grapefruit primarily. Sturdy pale malt backbone to support the hops. Very little bitterness.

Medium body, average carbonation.

A very well done IPA. Great hop profile and just enough malt to hold it all together. I really hope I have more opportunities to try this. I almost always choose to try a new beer when able, but this is one I would happily drink again.

Notes to self, will tidy up later
Boneyard IPA @ f/stop
upfront bitter, lemon peel , lingering tang. grassy, grapefruit WITHOUT any sweetness - not bad, just noting it. kinda like it because it feels more purposeful than some of the sweeter offerings. hazy look, light passes thru but only very diffused. warming in the tummy suggests a bit higher abv than I'd expect by taste (And checking proves me right - yay. hides its 7.5 pretty well). little bit of lacing, but hard to tell since it was poured with no head (why?). A bit of backwash forced it, looks good for what I have to work with. Resiny hops show character as it warms, helps smooth it up a bit.

why do bartenders pour beers with zero head?

Growler poured into a Hill Farmstead stem.

Pour: Hazy, deep orange with two fingers of creamy white head. Lots of sticky lacing, and the head hangs around for the majority of the glass.

Smell: Big, bright tropical fruits up front. Grapefruit, tangelo, mango. Some pine. A light brown bread dough.

Taste: More aggressively tropical than the nose, which is a great thing. Lots of tangerine, melon, and grapefruit. Some pine, but not a lot. A touch of white pepper. More of the same brown bread doughiness. Finishes juicy with citrus and lightly bitter

Mouthfeel: Juicy and refreshing. Medium bodied. Minimal bitterness.

Overall: Really impressive IPA from Boneyard. I like this a lot!

horse brass draft, took a little bush-dive shortly after, then a pleasant walk back downtown

a: served in a full shaker pint, glowing orange in color with a dense white head, great retention and chunky lace sticking to the glass walls

s: pungent, vivid hop nose out front, intensely tropical with pineapple and mango, pulpy orange, and resinous pine, sweet and sticky hop juice, a dose of sugary pale and caramel malts, yeah

m: medium bodied, carbonation around moderate or just under, pleasant

t: sweet, sweet, juicy hops brimming with luscious fruits - pineapple, mango, tangerine, grapefruit; a dash of pine resin underneath, oily and pungent, incredibly hoppy but averting any overbittered sensation, smooth and delicious, bready, slightly sweet pale malts with a slight dose of caramel

o: of ipa’s consumed in my semi-recent memory bank, this one stands out as the best of the best, great stuff

32 oz. growler poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy burnt orange. Not much of a head. Wispy surface. Cloudy.

Smell - Grapefruit, pine, other citrus. Slightly sweet malt touch, but mostly hops.

Taste - Proportionally less hoppy than the nose, but still dominated by the hops. More pine than grapefruit. Sweetness is stronger. Mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Sweetness is just a little too strong. Medium low carbonation due to the growler.

Overall - Might be my favorite of the three IPA levels. Just a little too sweet to be great.
