On-tap at the Brick Store.
Pours a hazy soft brown color with a one-finger light tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of bruised bananas with equal amounts of light wheat and indistinct malt aromas.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Muted malt and wheat flavors quickly give way to a good deal of overripe (not in a bad way) banana flavors. Very slight spices come into play midway through the sip before fading out into a crisp ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is very good. I had no problems finishing my glass and could easily have a few more.
Overall I was glad to have tried this beer as I bought the glass while in Rome and never thought I'd actually get to try the beer. An easy-drinking beer for the style, well worth a shot.

75cl brown glass bottle with classic pressure cap served into a Westvleteren goblet in Belfort, France. Bottle acquired in Rome, Italy, last week. Best before date is 26/10/2011. My bottle shows the ABV as 6%. Reviewed live.
A: One finger head of nice cream lacing, great thickness, and good retention for the serving vessel and relatively above-average ABV. Colour is a caramel brown. It's appealing.
Sm: Very nutty, with wheat and very light chocolate hints. A mild strength aroma.
T: Lots of nut layers, with a dirty wheat foundation and some chocolate hints. The nut layering is well done, but lacks complexity or inspiration. Simple. Balanced, but badly built.
Mf: Smooth and wet, with some very nice cream undertones. Probably the best part of this beer.
Dr: It's overall a rather simple beer for the style, and pales in comparison to its German counterparts. It drinks easy but costs entirely too much (especially in Rome). I wouldn't jump any hoops to get it.

Dark brown color, fluffy white head, long standing.
In the smell caramel and malt, but also some hop and hint of plum marmelade.
The taste is that of a dunkel weizen, dark malt, banana and cloves, well amalgamated.
Strong malt and caramel, yes, but overall balanced.
Full body, caramel, a bit of hop in the aftertaste.
Warming, some fruity notes pop up, of apricot in syrup.

I picked up a bottle of this beer during a visit to the brewpub. The bottle itself is a stubby 75 cl, with an oversized cap. The beer is a muddy brown color with a beautiful tan head. The aroma is a great mix of malt, yeast, banana, and ripe fruit. Very nice. The taste is sweet and powerful, but not overdone. It's textured, with a lot of dark berry and plum notes, mingled with wheat, sweet malt, and caramel. Very drinkable and quite interesting. Here's a wonderful Italian craft beer.

Pour is a dark brown with orangish edges and tight tan head. The nose is very nice, strong yeast and fruit sweetness. Peppery spice and twang up front, light dustiness transitions to banana and berries as a fruit balance is struck. The taste is a hint short, yeast is more subtle and the spice is much less, fruits are less bright and more sugary with a dustier earthy presence mid palate. Body is light and soft with a low carbonation and clean finish.

on the end of chocolaty color for a dark wheat. A cloudy tan brown color with a just slightly off white head. Nose is substancally earthy and mild herbal. Nose of beets and rosemary. Palate has a good dose of that exactly but the quality is so earthy it gets of a potatoe earth mineral in the wheat malt. Subtle sweet that even has a touch of chocolate malt. All around a dunkelweissen that is beyond the traditional form as we know it. Although still having a very palatable drinkablity.

Had on-tap at Sunswick 35/35 in Astoria, NY on 2/6/11
Review Taken From Notes
A - This beer pours a murky muddy brown color. It has a nice size light-tan head on it. Head falls a bit quickly and leaves some specs of lacing on the glass.
S - Smells of bruised bananas, pear, and caramel. Smells of wheat and malt as well. I'm really digging the smell.
T - I'm getting light wheat and malt taste, which then blends into a very nice banana and pear fruitiness. I am also getting notes of clove and a nice earthiness. The finish has a touch of bitterness to it.
M - This is smooth and creamy. It has a light-medium body and high carbonation. It goes down quite easily.
D - Good drinkability. It goes down smooth and has a great taste. This is my first dunkelweizen, and I was pretty impressed. I would for sure try this beer again.

Had on-tap at the Bavarian Lodge. Poured into a short nonic. Pours a muddy brown, with orange highlights, with about a finger of light tan head that drops after a few minutes to a wisp of foam. Good lacing.
Big bold ripe banana, clove, chocolate on the nose, with some wheat and caramel hinting around.
Flavor is like the aroma, big ripe banana, clove, light chocolate notes, with a crisp, wheat character. Finish is short, with the banana lingering a little before the fade.
Mouthfeel is medium, with a creamy carbonation, nice prickle, but not too hot.
Extremely drinkable. Good balance of flavors, would definitely go back for more.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a mini snifter. Medium sized light beige head atop a coppery golden clouded body. Aroma dominated by banana, slight alcohol aroma and maybe a touch of brown sugar. Taste is loaded with flavor, nice wheat smoothness, bananas again dominate. Hard to find any fault with this beer, I'd have to put it on par with some of the best dunkleweizens in the world.

A: Dark, hazy brown , a lot of lightly tanned and creamy head, good head retention, little lacing;
S: Very fresh, yeasty, fruit and a tiny bit of toasted malts, especially chocolate-like aromas, the fruitiness mainly consists of banana, hints of caramel;
T: Hits the palate with a sweet and slightly sour flavour while having this tiny bit of chocolate in it, hops are really just a tiny tiny bit in the backround on the finish, little bit of caramel, rather on the malty side yet not overly sweet, pretty good balance between all the components although slightly stronger fruit and/or chocolate would be interesting. The aftertaste is fruity and chocolatey;
M: Very thick and creamy, high carbonation;
O: Really good brew, balanced flavour profile although some flavours could be stronger!

On-tap at Birrificio Italiano .
Resembling a stout both for colour and foam, it distinguishes itself for the exceptional balanced taste colours.
A meditation beer because it comes natural to stop and taste every single sip, to try understanding the different faces of this unusul style example .
Caramel, malt, banana perfectly mixed-up : like a long-drink, plus a satisfying smell .
Majestic !
