Had on-tap at Sunswick 35/35 in Astoria, NY on 2/6/11
Review Taken From Notes
A - This beer pours a murky muddy brown color. It has a nice size light-tan head on it. Head falls a bit quickly and leaves some specs of lacing on the glass.
S - Smells of bruised bananas, pear, and caramel. Smells of wheat and malt as well. I'm really digging the smell.
T - I'm getting light wheat and malt taste, which then blends into a very nice banana and pear fruitiness. I am also getting notes of clove and a nice earthiness. The finish has a touch of bitterness to it.
M - This is smooth and creamy. It has a light-medium body and high carbonation. It goes down quite easily.
D - Good drinkability. It goes down smooth and has a great taste. This is my first dunkelweizen, and I was pretty impressed. I would for sure try this beer again.

June 2010: 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Dark brown colour, hazy. Moderate off-white head. Flowers and ripe berries in the aroma, hints of cloves too. Fruity and fairly sweet flavour, notes of bananas and cloves. Very moderate hops. Nice beer.

An Italian craft beer, coming in a pretty cool looking 75 cl bottle, with an over-sized cap. The label oozes class. Vudu spelt out in dramatic colouring and surrounded in stylish iconography. With a price rang between 11 to 13 € this beer better be good!!
On pour, light brown colour, with a large tan head
Decent head, that maintains, very good lacing, looks good
Very strong smell, very strong but very appealing, can smell lots of flavours, lots of fruits from banana (and lemon), very sweet. Wheaty, toasty malts, very very earthy.
Great on the nose. A very rustic earthy smell with lots of fruits. very appealing…..
First reaction from the taste is that this is a strong beer, very strong, can definitely feel the 6%. Has body and can get the taste all in the back end, the wheat and hops noted. Earthy.
I liked this beer, not very sweet, but bitter, but not overbearing. Dark chocolate/caramel tastes, like a stout, but not quite. Roasted malts and fruit (Banana mostly), creamy undertones
Is a slow burner, definitely one to drink while relaxing in front of the box, or over a meal. In fact it was so full of delicious tastes and very filling that it was like a proper meal!
Loved it. Strongly recommended! Has character, style and taste, is rich in body, and one of the better beers I have had in a long time. Will definitely buy again, no matter the price tag of 11€!..

Poured a brown body with minimal head and lace. The aroma strikes me as sweet with some wheat and bananas and then there's bit of spice like clove and herbal tea. The beer is light but has a fullness to it thanks to a wheat/yeast aspect (which also gives off some sweetness), there is a banana-like sweetness that balances with an herbal dryness and spiciness. Beer is balanced and while not complex is an enjoyable drink that is definite sipper for sure.

Poured a murky, mahogany colour. Smelled sour and malty, with hints of vanilla. Tasted crisper than expected, a little malty, mellow tartness, and a warm-ish grain-malt finish; Hops throughout, but not detected flavourwise, but the hops gave it a dryer mouthfeel.

part of me just stands in awe at italian beer in general right now, but who would think they would take a german, yes german classic to the next level, at least the same level, by making it as good if not better than many traditional ones, without really changing a thing. cool and special beer, but also one of those styles you love, but never really expect to be wowed by. this looks every bit the part, smells like it should, and tastes like something andeschs or weihenstephaner would make. truly, no lie. its almost more wheaty, less caramelized, maybe a short boil and a higher to complete wheat bill, textured beautifully and with a yeast strain the tips its cap to the germans but has an italian delicacy and earthiness the germans have not yet showed me. nearly impossible to describe this compared to the best german examples without tasting it, all of the same things, just stacked up slightly differently. really really enjoyed this glass of beer, and look forward to my next, i would take this over that insane black currant beer these guys did awhile back, my only other reference point for this brewery.

On tap at Alla Spina.
Served in a teku, a murky brown color with a lively puff of off-white head that bubbled up over the lip of the glass; good retention and lacing. In the nose, toasty malts, spice, roasty nuttiness. In the taste, nutty malts, brown sugar, notes of cinnamon and clove, earthy raw cocoa, yeast leaning towards dried banana. Good mouthfeel, medium body, overall good for the style.
