Of the many, many brewpubs I have visited, I have enjoyed none more than the Barrington Brewery. The Porter is to die for, one of the best I've ever had. It's tasty, full-bodied, and refreshing. The Stout and Brown are also fantastic. The Blond is amazing and the IPA and Pale Ale are very, very good. The Vienna is well above average, as are the ESB and the Raspberry Wheat. (Only the Blond, Stout, Pale Ale and Raspberry Wheat are standards, the other's being seasonal. They usually have 8 beers available at any 1 time). Their high octane beer (11% ABV, I believe. It's the "yuel fuel" in winter; "firecracker" in summer) is exceptional, especially since I tend to stick to beers below 8% ABV. Other seasonals include a Scotch Ale.
The food is very good (their sweet potato fries are delicious) and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There is a jukebox and 2 pool tables upstairs. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgable. If I didn't live over 2 hours away, it would be my bar of choice. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad beer at the Barrington Brewery. Looking forward to going again soon......

I will repeat what someone previously posted in a review - Yule Fuel. It is quite a big, malthy, warm beer. This beer alone rates this place very high for me. We drive 2 hours once a year just to get some. And you can buy 22ozs and they fill growlers. Costs are reasonable - $5 for a 22oz and $13 for a growler - and they fill anyone's growlers. Once again I was not disappointed and walked away with enough to enjoy for a while into the new year.
In addition to the Yule Fuel, started with a scotch ale which was also pleasant and well done for the style - not thin with some warmth and a bit of sweatness. The food was good as was the cervice. Also, the menu is vegetarian friendly with lots of offerings and options.

i visited the place with a friend who lives in Great Barrington, she is friends with the owners daughter and took me there knowing my interest in craft brewing. the place is cozy and decorated with assorted glassware and signs from different countries and old breweries. the brewing equipment is 20 feet in front of the bar adding a nice charm to the place. there is a larger hall available for rent that i wa shown, seems like a nice place to have a party.
i enjoyed the two pints(esb, yule fuel) i had and the growler(stout) i took home with me. the service was nice and i got a little tour around the place. i definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through the Berkshires.

I loved the look and feel of this place. It was my first time there so I didnt know what to expect. It was the kind of pub I like with stuff all over the walls.I loved the breweriana, especially the bottles in the glass case. The bar was very intimate and they actually gave you coasters. From the bar you have a great view of the brewing tanks and process. It had a country/Irish bar feel.A real brewery atmosphere. The food was awesome. Those were the best nachos I think I've ever had.All the beers were good. They had alot of merchandise available, but I stole a pint glass for a souvenier. We took home four bombers including a vienna style and a belgian white which were both good. They have everyting available from 220z bombers to 64oz growlers and 15 gallon half kegs.

Jeez, I must have been here a dozen times when I lived in the Berkshires, but it took a trip to Vermont from NYC with a stop at Barrington on the way through for me to finally write a Beerfly.
This place is well worth seeking out if you are travelling in the Berkshires. The atmosphere is "This Old Barn," complete with rustic wood floors and high, vaulted ceilings. It's a fairly spacious place, and you should have no trouble parking and getting a table. The service has always been above average for me, at least at dinner, but the bartenders have always filled my growlers happily and quickly, so that's a plus. Plus they're super-friendly.
The beers on draft are all brewed on premises, and are all quite good bordering on consistently excellent -- not too many out-there styles -- usually an IPA, pale ale, stout, porter, some kind of fruit beer, and maybe a special like steam ale or barleywine. All are very well-crafted and super fresh -- what more could you ask for?
The food is average pub grub -- nothing too exciting. I'd like to see them upgrade the menu a bit, to be honest. But everything does have a nice country kitchen-type flavor to it, especially the desserts, highlighted by the Stout Chocolate Cake. Rich and dense is an understatement. Delicious.
Prices are quite nice, even for touristy/resorty Great Barrington. Prices seem to be catering to the local rather than the visitors.
I always stop when I'm on my way through. If you don't live in the area, I defintely recommend growler fills, and bellying up for a pint or two if you've got the time.
PS - I've got to echo the complaint about the policy to not fill growlers of their stronger beers, like the barleywine or YuleFuel. Why not? I'll pay more for them. I would love to review these, but you gotta drive to get here, and you gotta drive to go home. Know what I mean?

The beer selection is great, and the beers can each hold their own. They have something for the hop heads, and the malt heads, and everyone in between. There really isn't anything here too extreme though, but that's not a bad thing.
The food ranges from basic sandwhich to specialty. There is nothing too fancy, but it's good for pub food. All the prices are great, so this place can be visited more than once-in-a-while. The service is good, with standard waitresses and waiters.
The building is in a barn type building, with some of the brewing equipment visible. There is indoor and outdoor seating. In the bar area, there is are two TVs.
I would consider living in Great Barrington just so I could visit this place every weekend (or day). Highly recommended if you find yourself in Western Massachusetts.

It's a nice, cozy place. You could probably comfortably seat about 20 people at least in the section I was sitting. There was a bar section across the way, and there may have been more tables in that section, but I didn't look.
The quality of both the beer and the food was good. This is a solid microbrewery/restaurant right here.
The service is fantastic. They are helpful, friendly, and attentive.
In terms of selection: on tap tonight they were serving: Pale Ale, Stout, Brown Ale, Blonde Ale, Barleywine, IPA, Raspberry Ale, and a Porter.
Entrees looked to be in the $10-15 range. Beer and dessert were both $5. They also had sandwiches. The portions were generous but not absurd. At any rate, it is worth it.
If you're in the area and are looking for good beer and a good meal, I'd highly recommend this place.

Well me and the misses took a day trip to Great Barrington and decided to have lunch at this place. I loved the appearance to this place: dirt driveway with outdoor deck with a red barn look. You go in and classic beer bottles line the wall next to you. The bar area goes around the front with some tables around the corner and good chunk of the tables to your left upon entering. Very rustic, old New England feel; wood, colonial, farmhouse.
For Great Barrington, right near Stockbridge and Lenox, the prices for food were great. They preferred cash and we were able to pay for our meal quite easily. Food varied but for lunch one could really just get pub food. I had a philly cheesesteak which was delicious. I had the sampler which was pretty inexpensive comparatively. The beers were great, I loved the Berkshire Blonde.
Service was great, friendly and attentive. For being outside in the deck, our waitress was constantly outside checking up on us, striking conversations. Definitely a place worth going to if your in the Berkshires.

The first time I was here, I had the Yuel fuel what a great beer that is. What an interesting night it was after that beer. After that I have been there a few times. Really nice place. Nice and rustic. It was an old barn that was converted into a brewpub. A variety of foods and good beers. Well made beers. They have 8 taps and bottles to go. Good place to visit for some beers. Basic pub fare. Very nice and cozy place.
Very reasonable prices. Not expensive. The best part about this brewpub is there is a Holiday Inn right across the street, walking distance.
Great fresh beer. Most of the beers can be filled up in growlers.

I came here with 4 of my buddies. we drove up a few hours from long island NY for a ski trip and once we got to barrington we found this place. we got very lucky that we came across this place.
the food was great. we split a pitcher of their hopland pale ale which was fantastic, and had many pub fare appetizers and we all enjoyed our main courses too. even their chocolate cake was an excellent dessert. service was good also. we all really had a great dinner there. will 100% go back if I'm ever in the area.
