Pours a darker colored rich but bubbly 1 finger head that holds well, a high water mark of lacing, over just about black beer with slightest hint of very dark light coming through in the edges.
Nose has a toasty porter start, toasted malts, caramel, toffee, light cocoa, touch of roast, coffee and mocha, brown sugar, molasses, hint of cinnamon like spices, sweet bread, light nutty sweet pecan like. Chocolate and caramel sweet candy comes out more as it warms.
Taste starts with chocolate, powdered cocoa, a light roasted malt and coffee mocha, but somewhat creamy as well. Nutty caramel malts, light pecan and nuts, very light pecan that is, light acrid roast as well. bitterness cuts in with light earthy grassy hops, little roast bitterness as well. Toasted malts and toasted bready flavors too. Finish is sweet sticky, some light roast, plenty of chocolate, caramel, light nutty, and more bitter earthy hops, with just a touch of acrid roast.
Mouth is med to slightly fuller bodied, creamy and a bit lush, decent carb.
Overall interesting, but not what I expected. More porter like and roasted malt than anything, a little roasty acrid burnt, very light on pecans and pie flavors, so a little disappointing overall.

A: poured from a 22 oz bottle into a pint glass, dark purple brown with a short tan head that dissipates quickly leaving little lacing, clear
S: nutty malt aroma, brown sugar, toffee, caramel
T: average porter flavor, slight pecan bitterness, some flavor of sweet alcohol
M: medium to full bodied with average carbonation, alcohol present
O: It does not taste like pecan pie. It is an average porter that is slightly boozy.

Genghis Pecan pours a deep brown with a relatively sizable head. The aroma is sweet, roasty, and slightly sour. The taste offers a full, nearly ashy roast along with a subtle nut characteristic. The sour component is still present, if not as strong as the nose presented, suggesting the beginning stages of an infection. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side, with a moderate carbonation. The drinkability is good. Overall, Genghis Pecan is a pretty solid porter. The sour aspects haven't progressed to the point where they really hurt the beer that much.
