22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden copper with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet sugary melon and dank piney peppery hops.

The flavor is is a let down - earthy grassy bitterness, a little sugary fruit, and some cardboard notes. The mouthfeel is light bodied and very watery.

Overall, I was excited after pouring, but the flavors are not bright and a bit off and it's really watery.

Clear apricot colroed with a thick beige head of foam that lingers long and slowly recedes. Low aroma of citrus hops, some lightly toasted malt. Fresh hoppy flavors full of tangerine and grapefruit rind, some piney notes. Good honied malt backbone, but the hops really shine through on this one. Dry mouthfeel, a bit puckery in the cheeks from the hop bitters, but full. Very enjoyable beer overall.

Orange/amber with a light haze and creamy, light beige cap. Good head retention with sheets of sticky lace clinging to the glass. Citrusy aroma that faded into caramel. Some grapefruit and pine, a bit pithy, slight tangerine, powdery, wet grass. The taste was similar to the aroma profile, but everything was dialed back in power. Bitterness only took charge close to the finish and it had a slightly grainy quality, but alcohol was nicely controlled. Medium/full body with soft carbonation and a bit of dryness.

Poured orange coppery with a creamy head decent lacing. Smells citric and piney but with a strong sweet malt presence. A faint scent of lemon peel as well. Taste opens up with mild citrus and more prominent resin flavor then a wallop of sweet biscuit malt. Bitterness is moderate. Subtle dark fruit and semi sweet chocolate as well. Taken in total it's a bit of a mess, the flavors don't get along, leaving a general sourness on the palate. Mouthfeel is decent. Carbonation strong. Mediocre effort.

A 22oz bomber received as a Christmas gift

A - Deep golden, with a bit of clarity. 1 finger of head and lots of sticky lace left all over the glass.

S - Nice mix between piny and citrus hops. Lots of hops. Fresh dank hops. Very good.

T - A very well blend of citrus and pine hops. Grapefruit, lemon.

M - Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Oily, slick.

O - Def recommend to hop heads. Very tasty DIPA, and at 8%, it won't knock you out if you are planning to enjoy many more in your day/night.

Bomber to snifter. Box below the bar code which usually has the bottle date is empty. First I've seen of it at my store though so here's to hoping it's fresh

Pours a dark orangish gold with a finger of foam that didn't stick around for too long. Lacing's alright, pretty average for a dipa. Nothing too special is going on here

Aroma of hops of course, strong citrus undertones cut with a sweet malt. Dark fruits are there with a touch of chocolate, some lemon and a hint of alcohol. Pretty complex, some smells out of the ordinary for the style. I like it

Taste doesn't lead me where I though the smell would take me. Quite hoppy, fruity, and malty. That said, they don't mesh together too well and leave a bit of a bland after taste.

Feel isn't too bad, nice crisp medium body with a dry finish. Leaves a nice sticky coat, pretty drinkable

Overall this isn't a bad beer, but aside from trying it I don't see much reason to buy it. It's pretty mediocre for a dipa, probably not something I'll pick up again for a while. Nothing really stands out with this one

This beer was brewed 12/2011 and enjoyed on 1/3/12…typically, IPA’s should be drank within 6 months or less of brewing, with purists saying less than 3 months…I’m expecting a more malty IPA, with the malts outlasting the hops in freshness…we’ll see…

Appearance: Pours a cloudy caramel orange color…has the look of a malty IPA rather than a west coast, citrus dominant IPA…nice thin layer of dense foamy bubbles, just a touch off white…tons of “legs” along the edge of the glass…(3.75/5)

Smell: Very much full of sweet, caramel malt…no surprise the hops aroma has faded over time and more of the malt is prominent…some deep earthy dankness, grapefruit and yeast to it as well…it’s got a richness to it that I like, though I wouldn’t call it aromatic…(4/5)

Taste: Tons of bready malt and yeast flavor in the beginning…piney/earthy/resinous hops break out in the middle phase, taking over the sweet, bready malt and returning this to a more conventional strong flavored IPA…it’s a bit robust once the brew really takes over the palate, leaving a earthy bitterness for me to chew on…some citrus hops notes very subtly shows up late…the flavor has borderline double IPA characteristics, reminiscent of Joseph James Hop Box I tried recently…it’s got a nice balanced flavor that I’m really enjoying…this is definitely more of a traditional, strong IPA and not a west coast, citra bomb…yum! (4.25/5)

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied, with medium carbonation…chewy…really nice…(4/5)

Overall: For being over a year old, this IPA has aged very nicely…I’m interested in seeing how the brewer intended the flavor to be, so I’m definitely getting another, fresher example…it’s got tons of balanced flavor, I suspect though it’s more malt dominant than it was when it was initially brewed…as it is, I’m excited I have over half a bottle left…it’s very much a sessionable brew that will bring about a happy buzz the whole way…very drinkable, very sip-on-able, this is a great brew that I recommend for your enjoyment…you’ll like it! (4/5)

A big India Pale Ale. Fruit Loop and brown sugar bouquet. Tropical hops, grapefruit bitterness. Burnt sugar sweetness lingers. Viscous mouthfeel. Bitter sweet finish. Pretty good stuff. Perhaps a lighter body/less residual sugar would liven this one up a bit, but I like it well enough as is.

A: Rustic pale orange with a neat clarity shows a moderate and slow rise of spacious effervesce bubbles. The head is bready, frumpy in texture, 2 fingers high with a cream tint to it. Retention was incredibly lasting, sturdy in show even after 8-10 minutes with hardly any decay. Stratified ring lacing with a 60% area coverage.

S: Pink grapefruit juice, bright zing, with a fresh and wet nature to it. Sweet caramel backing. solid.

T: Flavor was sweetened pink grapefruit with a strong toasted backing. Fresh, wet hops drip and ooze resinous juices. Toasted citrus and grapefruit with a strong show of toasted malt back this up. A finish of toasted dryness. There are some instances of fresh wet pine and a warming of flowery hoppiness.

M: Fairly crisp and bubbly, body is a bit lighter then anticipated. Dry finish of warm hop flowers.

O: Overall the flavor is crisp, toasty with a respectable amount of hop backing. Good drinkability factor.

A: poured an amber brown in color with yellow highlights and a half finger of head that left some good lacing sticking to the glass.

S: most bready malty sweetness coming out from the aroma with citrus fruit such as lemon and grapefruit, a little grassy note and very subtle signs of hops.

T: like the nose hops were almost absent on the palate but lots of bready malty sweetness, grapfruit bitterness, citrus lemon twang, a touch of pineapple fruit slight grainy character and some underlying earthy grassy flavor.

M: the brew was medium in body with fair amount of carbonation which had a sweet, bready malty, semi citrusy, very mild hoppy, slightly fruity and crisp finish.

O: I honestly thought the pale ale had more of a hoppy bite than the IPA.

Bottled 7/2012

A: Pours a golden copper color with 2 fingers worth of sticky head. Sheets of lace follow the beer all the way down the glass

S: Get a dose of citrus and piney hops combined with a solid malt backbone

T: Follows the nose. Hops lend citrus and pine notes, and the malt provides a good backing. Very well balanced. Bitter, but it doesn't last for too long. Never too sweet either. Get a slight alcohol bite as it warms, but it goes well with the thickness of the malts

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Chewy and bordering on thick

O: A solid IIPA with great balance and drinkability. Good price point at under $6 for a bomber to boot. Worth a try if you can get it fresh, or even with a couple months on it. This one has 2-3 months on it and the hops are still very present

Nice clear dark copper with an off white head and of course nice lacing. Little carbonation evident. Smell is rich with caramel malt and pine. A fruit melange has tropical notes as well as alcohol and medicine. Taste is sweet with caramel and burnt brown bread as well a wisp of Irish coffee. Medicinal facets show for a moment as it moves to grapefruit in the firmly hopped finish. Hop oil lingers and coats the sides of my mouth and a light biscuit malt flavor. Feel is slightly slippery and on the lighter side of thick with a nice amount of carbonation to break it up. A good solid offering.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger white foam head that slowly fades into a thin ring.  Spotty lace left behind.

Dank, resinous hop aroma with grassy pine and floral notes all countered by sweet citrus and tropical fruit.  Very floral but has strong grapefruit, pineapple and orange peel character.  Subtle pale malt and booze as well.

Medium bodied with a lingering earthy hop character up front that dominates the flavor with a lot of dry bitterness.  One dimensional hop profile with hardly any of the sweetness or citrus/tropical fruit found in the nose.  More sweet booze than expected with faint pale malt notes, notably bread and biscuit.  Kind of bland really with a bone dry finish and an odd, lingering aftertaste.

The appearance is amber in color and clear. On the pour i was unable to really produce much in way of a foamy cap and what little i did get faded in a blink of an eye.

During the pour the aroma came through beautifully but faded, like the head, way to fast. The aroma was bright and citrusy and the malts were sweet giving a nice balance.
Taste finds a small amount of pineapple and grapefruit hops with sweet malts.
Smooth and easy drinking with a good dose of bitterness that lingers quite awhile.
A take it or leave it beer.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic and a tulip glass. Uh oh, bottled Feb 2012...

A real nice fluffy and large three finger head, off white in appearance, sitting on a real nice red and orange amber body. Nearly cherry in color, but with a big orange appearance. Very impressive body color, and lots of retention cap in the nonic.

Nose is malty, hops have probably faded on this. English tea like herbal sense on this, with a good chunk of earth with a malty sweetness. Still not bad, just not very big in the DIPA realm, but then again I am sure this is quite different fresh.

Taste hits with a very noticeable sweet malt orange, then gives a very lingering dry hoppy pine blast. Malt sugar sweetness mixes with citrus orange bent, with a hint of juice. Hop angle seems to become a little more varied than what is smelled on the bouquet. Mouthfeel is very full too.

Overall it would be quite interesting to try this beer fresh, but it still is worth drinking even this late in the game. Feels like a more varied and muted Deviant Dale's at this stage.

Reviewed from notes

A - Deep copper crystal clear pour with a one finger head that faded with minimal clouding.

S - Sweet malts followed by light musty dank hops.

T - Sweet malts, bitter grapefruit. Not really hoppy just well...bitter.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit too sweet and malty for an iPA.

O - Overall I felt this was an average offering from Clown Shoes. You can do much better.

Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a dense white head that settles to a splotchy haze, leaving some spotty lacing. Big aromas of pine resin, grapefruit, and orange peel. Very resinous and "sticky". More grapefruit and orange peel with a moderately sweet caramel malt backbone and a long-lasting bitter finish. Smooth and slightly sticky, with a medium-full body and good carbonation. A solid DIPA that somehow remains extremely drinkable despite the "big" feel.

A - Hazy in body a very dark brown red with a 1/2 an inch of opaque colored head (almost tan) Lacing is excellent btw.

S - Not very hoppy but... damn I just noticed it was bottled in 2/2012 so that's... fuuu! over 5 months old. Hop the hops hold up well since it smells mostly malty.

T - Well it sure is malt forward with only a slight twang of bittering hops. At this point it's almost like a barleywine and yet it's not bad! Hops and malts still balanced with a biting finish and the ABV is well masked. Pretty much all I ask for in a DIPA.

M - Medium and kind of chewy.

Overall wow even after five months this beer still has some bite. Age has been kind to this one and thankfully it wasn't just dead hop water. Worth trying!

Red-gold body. Light finger of off-white head.

Nose is sweet malt with a light grassy hop note. Not enough dry hops, I think.

Grassy and aspirin hop flavors dominate. Hmm, I'd really like more citrus. Still, it's good hop juice. Minimal malt body, the way Vinnie intended.

Mouthfeel is chalky and astringent. Tooth-stripping and delicious.

Good effort. I like the in your face-ness of it. Overall, it's really good stuff.

Stand aside, citizen, Supa Hero coming through!

Weathered copper orange in color and murky. Poured with a nice off-white froth that reduced to a wispy cap. Resinous pine hop aromas are dominant with ripe citrus hop, sweet caramel malt and a hint of honey beneath. Thick, resinous feel with rich carbonation. Earthy pine hop flavors over ripe citrus orange and sweet caramel malt from start to finish. Finishes with a nice pine hop bitterness. Nothing terribly complex, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Thank you to tone77 for this beer!

The beer pours a somewhat hazy orange amber in color. There is a half-inch of creamy off-white foam.

The aroma is orange and malty, not a whole lot going on in the aroma.

The taste is heavy on orange fruit, mandarin, lots of malt, some caramel, tea with cream, and, as the label indicated, a dank hop element.

The finish is very bitter and astringently dry in the mouth.

T: The beer starts with a light caramel malt body and then finishes with lots of citrus hop flavors - mostly orange and grapefruit. Light to moderate amounts of bitterness.
