Stopped in for lunch today on a recommendation, small but varied beer selection with a couple brews I'd had before but hadn't ever seen on draft. One of the better selections in the area. The food was amazing, the burger with pickled veg and Thai peanut sauce is to die for. The side was fried potato slices, with cheese and bacon and a homemade french onion dipping sauce. The bartender said they're aging some of their brews in house, which is a neat idea. We had a blast and I look forward to going back.
Neglected to mention, they have a bar side of the building and a higher-end dining side. We saw both menus.... and we ate on the bar side. The fine dining side is much pricier.

They have a good selection of draft beers and usually have a few rotating taps. Their best value is to get Lions Head or Yuengling on tap, as for those two a pint is half the price of anywhere else in Blacksburg. Their mixed drinks are pretty fairly priced. It's not a college bar like most of the places in town, it's known more as a "towny bar". It's a good place, the bartenders are very nice and helpful, some even give you samples of beers if you are having trouble deciding what to order. That being said I've been here with people ordering food and it took a very long time to get out to them in the bar area. They usually have a couple of local seasonal beers on tap. Their happy hour is decent too. Overall it's a good bar and if you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere than most of the bars around town then this is a good option. In the restaurant area they have the same beer selection, and a much different ambiance. The food is really good in the restaurant section.

visited this place for lunch over the weekend while visiting vt. cool building, sort of classy barn aspect to it. separate bar section where all the drafts are kept. service was okay. the waiter tried to be a little fancier than necessary and it felt awkward at times. i also thought it took way too long for the drinks/food to get there considered how empty the restaurant was when we were there. draft selection was good, bottle selection was better. my only complaint is that they had more local selections on draft/in bottle. i thought the food was good, but some people at the table disagreed. overall for lunch it was a very good value. drafts and bottles were definitely not too expensive, however it might be considered expensive for the area. worth a visit!

Atmosphere- This is a new restaurant in the same building as what used to be one of the oldest restaurants in town and they've renovated it very nicely to open it up from the smoky lodge feel that it had before. The restaurant has also been split into three parts; the wine bar, restaurant sitting area, and Frank's at 622 which is a more sports-bar type atmosphere with an awesome beer menu though I have never seen it very crowded.
Quality- The wine and beers are excellent, the food I would call just above average. The first time I went I ate at Frank's and had a cheese platter which was just okay, only one of the cheeses out of five or so would have said was really good. The second time I was there for wine and had a caprese salad which was good except that the mozzarella and tomato were over-smothered in balsamic so that's all I tasted (it was good balsamic, but not what I was after).
Service- The service was great, the servers are knowledgeable, friendly, and know to ask to split the check which is both common and appreciated in Blacksburg.
Selection- Excellent! They had beers from all over the country on tap and when at Frank's the bar was a bit slow so the bartender was very chatty with us and gave great suggestions let us taste the beers that seemed most intriguing. Bells for example is not a common beer in this area.
Food- (see quality)
Value- By Blacksburg standards this place is very expensive. It is definitely not trying to cater to the college crowd (or poor grad students who appreciate good wine and beer). This was more of a problem with the wine than the beer so I will not elaborate too much but the beer was also significantly higher than other places in town with good selections. Small portion sizes for food as well given the price. If I had not recently been to the D.C. area and seen how outrageously expensive things were up there I would have given this restaurant a worse value-rating. Again, for the area it is very pricey but this is after all a college town in rural Virginia.
Overall I will go back again but more likely for wine than beer. There are other places in town that have similarly good beer selections for less money even if not the exact same rare beers or the same varieties on tap.

Part restaurant, part wine bar, part beer bar, 622 is a refreshing improvement to Blacksburg culture. Chef George keeps things fresh with inventive specials along side delicious standards. Open for lunch, dinner, and late night 622 has something for everyone. For starters try the tempura soft shell crab or the shrimp salad stuffed avocado. The flat bread pizzas, paired with a beer from their extensive and ever-changing selection of bottles and drafts, make a solid lunch. They also offer a daily lunch special for $6.22, usually a unique sandwich that really needs a cup of soup de jour. Avoid the pastas (never eat pasta out unless someone tells you it's to die for, sauce and noddles is not hard and should be eaten as a small early course) and head straight for the ribeye, ahi, or soft shell crabs, that is if the specials don't make your mouth water. My lamb came over cooked, but I had a feeling it would since it is a braised shank and this is Blacksburg. It would also be nice to see some more seasonality in the menu, but this place is in its first year of getting all the kinks out. The draft beer menu is the best in town: Nectar's Humboldt, Left Hand Nitro, Arrogant Bastard!. Sommelier Trent Crabtree keeps the winos stocked with some really nice pairings including Virginia offerings. All in all, a welcome distinction amongst sports bars and poor excuses for restaurants. Service is knowledgeable and attentive so far, again thanks to Trent who runs the front of the house as well. Look out for more local and organic ingredients in the future, WE HOPE!!!

Decided to check out this new restaurant in Blacksburg after seeing they have a cool and eclectic selection of beer on tap and in bottles.
I started with one of my favorites, sierra nevada pale ale on tap. Of course delicious as usual, but even more impressive was that the server didn't have to ask me three times what beer I wanted, because he actually knew what his restaurant offered. Ordered the corn salsa and chips, figuring if i couldn't have a beer brewed with adjunct garbage like corn and rice i could at least enjoy some chips with corn.
After placing my order for the 622 north burger, i ordered a left hand milk stout, also on tap. What a great stout, chocolate and roasted barley, as well as coffee notes. The burger arrived as i was about halfway done with the stout, complete with crumbled feta cheese. Props to the server as well, he was there when we needed him and truly seemed to care about our experience at the restaurant.
The dogfish head festina peche capped off the night and was a great end to a visit to a wonderful restaurant, which I will be returning to soon, most likely the bar section, to sample more delicious brews.
