Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – Served light golden colored brew with a one finger white head. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to give a nice level of lace.

Smell – The aroma is largely bready in nature with hints of tropical fruits of mango, a light orange citrus and some pineapple.

Taste –The taste begins with flavors of a bready malt mixed with a lighter fruit flavor of apricot. As the flavor advances mango and ginger flavors start entering the taste. The mango remains relatively light throughout the taste, but the ginger grows stronger as the taste advances further. In the end the mango comes to the tongue and along with the other flavors of the brew it leaves a slightly spiced and light fruity flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the thinner to average side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. Both fitting for the style and are good for the ginger spice and lighter fruit flavors of the brew.

Overall – A decent brew, but nothing all that exciting. It was worth a try, but not one I would likely go back to again and again as the flavors don’t meld together all that well in my opinion.

Served in a bottle at Northern Soul in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a hazy medium golden yellow in color with some light orange highlights and light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall dense foamy light beige head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate amounts of tropical/mango, citrus/orange, and floral hops over a light amount of malts (caramel and wheat). There are light to moderate notes of ginger and black pepper.

T: Upfront there is a combination of light to moderate amounts of caramel malts and some wheat with light notes of ginger and black pepper. That is followed by some light notes of tropical/mango and citrus/floral/orange blossom hops. Light amounts of bitterness that fade rather quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Overall I wish both the mango and the ginger were more in the forefront of this beer, especially with the flavor aspects. It is a decent beer but I feel slightly mislead by the name - there are just very subtle notes of mango and light amounts of ginger. Alcohol is well hidden and the beer is easy enough to drink, though I don't think I will be getting this one again.

I had this beer out of a bottle into pint glass,

The appearance is of a typical ipa, great flow of bubbles pours well with a good head.

Very suttle ginger and mango smell to it, and tastes almost exactly as it smells, not very bitter compared to some IPA's, the taste is great and very enjoyable and you could drink many of these because of the lightness and great flavor.

I enjoyed this very much, So much I purchased a whole case.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a copper color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of mild ginger, just a touch of mango. Taste is also on the mild side, some hops but definiatly lacking in bitterness for and IPA. Some ginger is present, mango is MIA for the most part. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer but nothing special.

I purchased this for home consumption at The Fridge and having done my civic duty and voted, it is time for some beer.

My pour got me two fingers of fluffy eggshell-white head with decent retention. Color was a deep golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Midas and Croesus were both licking their lips across from me. Nose was odd, definitely laden with the distinctive scent of a woman, I mean, mango, but I was unsure of how the hops were interacting with the fruit. You know how some people make the analogy with a taco? It really should be with mango - fleshy, deep pink, a pungent flavor, you may get the idea. Mango Wango Tango, man! Ted Nugent knows. Mouthfeel was medium and the hops were really overrun by the mango. I liked it, but I hope that they did not use a whole buncha rare and expensive hops to make this one. Finish was semi-dry between the hops and the mango, which I never thought of as a sweet fruit. Would I drink it again? Hell, yeah! Lay some mango on me, baby, and don't hold back!

A- Pours a light golden color with a dense two-finger head. Head has great retention and leaves sticking lacing. Some chill haze present as well.

S- Mango, ginger, floral hops, citrus, black pepper, and just a hint of alcohol.

T- Fruitiness upfront mixed with some spiciness (ginger). A little pale malt flavor comes through about halfway and the finish has some more spiciness and just a little pine resin.

M- Light to medium with above average carbonation.

O- A middle of the road IPA that leans more toward the fruity side instead of bitter. This is only my second beer from Boxcar, but so far this is my favorite. A nice IPA that's worth a try. Cheers.
