Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pretty dark amber color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, a bit of hops. Taste is good, nutty, some caramel notes, a bit of hops, very easy drinking. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overallis an enjoyable beer.

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance
Dirty amber with 1-2 fingers of off-white head that dissipates quickly. Very low carbonation.

Nose
Caramel, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Taste
Caramelized brown sugar and a healthy dose of nuts. Light dusting of powdered cocoa and cinnamon.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, crisp, clean and refreshing.

Overall
A very refreshing Brown Ale more in the tradition of an English Brown.

It may be hard to fathom for some, but not all of my beer drinking is done in public. Some I save for the privacy of my kitchen and my keyboard. This is one of those times. It was getting onto Last Call at The Fridge and Jeannie was giving me the Evil Eye if I did not close out and get out. I closed out and got while the gettin' was good, but I took a mixed-6 just in case I might need a top-off upon returning to Abbaye de Chandler. It turned out that I was satiated as I awoke on the couch with a sixer at my feet. It is good to be king!

My pour created a finger of thin, light-tan head with (frankly) poor retention. Hey, where did you go?!? Krass Brothers, Store of the Stars?!? Color was a deep-amber/light-brown with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a chocolaty quality along with a light hoppy bitterness. Mouthfeel was medium with a cocoa flavor on the tongue. Finish was semi-dry and the cocoa flavor lingered well past the finish. It was a so-so beer and I would recommend the Mango Wango Tango over this one.

Pours from 12 0z bottle Hazy brown with a tan head about 3/4 inch that leaves after a minute or so. Smells of burnt sugar and sweet malts. Tastes of sweet malts and burnt sugar with hops balenceing it out and ends with a crisp hop ending.
Smooth and creamy in your mouth this bottle conditioned Brown ale is a nice and flavorful Ale. I gtive it a overall of 4.0.

Thanks to Kegatron for gifting me with a bottle of this. Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into a shaped pint glass. The brew appears a hazed brown with nearly 3 fingers of tan head across the top. The cap retains fairly well with a fluffy composition of large bubbles. As the cap slowly fades, it leaves fingers and patches of lacework sticking to the glass.

The smell is sweet with some dark toffee malt inclusion, raisins and other burnt sugars. A bit of mineral inclusion and hops are present which accent the fruity quality which seems to mingle back and forth between smelling malty sweet and lightly fruity with a touch of alcohol. As the brew warms up, there is a faint smoked aspect that is almost pete-like which is interesting.

The taste includes some toffee malt sweetness that gets contrasted by some mineral feel and herbal to fruity hops. Through the profile it is a bit toasty flavoring mixed with fruity spikes almost like raisins or prunes. It finishes fairly crisp with more of a fruity focus back on hops but without the bitterness. Just like the aroma indicated, there is a faint smoked aspect about this brew which adds a nice dimension but doesn't totally mingle well with the rest of the flavors. As it warms up, a bit of green yeasty quality pushes through and becomes more prevalent in the flavor profile.

This is a medium bodied brew with a lively level of carbonation that is more than ample. Overall not a bad brew but it contains some interesting and unexpected twists. It was surprisingly crisp for the style and had some pleasant character but overall it would need a little reworking to make me want to try it again.

Fairly dark reddish brown color that poured out a nice two finger head. It settled fairly quickly leaving thin laces as the glass emptied. Interesting nose followed by a dominant smokey malt taste, which for me bordered on a little bit charred. Bitterness was about right and it had a medium mouth. But for me it wasn't very complex and nothing added to or adjusted the initial smokiness from beginning to end. I wouldn't pick it out but I certainly wouldn't refuse it either. it's just nothing special.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a deep clear copper, with several foamy fingers of light mocha head. This shrinks down into a foamy ½ finger, leaving back a decent looking smattering of lacing. The aroma floral airiness in the nose but also a bit of a medicinal feel as well. There is some extra leafy greenness here that works with notes of sweeter malt to impart some tang in the nose, while some light roast sits along the back.

Sweetness, light toastiness, and green citric fruit all meld together in the taste, while a gentle grassy bitterness lends some light crispness in the mouth. There is a flush of roasty caramel flavor towards the finish and trails some dry lingering bitter fruit. The mouthfeel is lighter-medium bodied, with a soft and bubbly carbonation on the palate but there is a touch of a prickly feel here and there as well. This overall though is coming off as a bit too light feeling in spots.

This was a pretty average take on style and while the flavors seemed to be there for the most part, the overall profiles just lacked a certain amount of tightness and definition. Everything just had a bit too much of a softness to it for this to be really enjoyable. This unfortunately wasn’t too terribly impressive.

This beer pours a clear auburn color with a thin head and no lace. It's aroma is of toast, nuts, and hay. The flavor has notes of toast, roasted nuts, and a roasted malt sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium. Boxcar Brown Ale is a good beer, a good accompaniment for spaghetti. Recommended.

Ap - Moderately dark rubyish brown. Off-white one finger head from a fairly rigorous pour. Slightly cloudy, ok head retention.

Ar - A bit hard to describe. It smells a lot like aged barleywine to me. Very sweet, a little fruity, maybe a little floral hops, but otherwise not much hop character. Some toasted bread. Dates?

T - Next to no flavor up front, maybe just a touch of chocolate, followed by sweetness, fairly low bitterness in the back but still present. Some floral flavors

M - Medium body, high carbonation. Leaves a slick feeling in the mouth.

Overall it's not really a bad brown ale, but it's not one that I would want to drink regularly. The flavors are there, but it's just too sweet and not blended very well. It's like there's all these individual flavors floating around and they don't end up forming a whole. Maybe it's just young still? It almost tastes like fermentation hasn't completely finished yet. I've got a case of this so if it grows on me as it gets older I'll update.

a lighter brown colored beer with about an average foam head. Well carbonated.
Wonderful aroma of roasted/toasted malts with sutle hints of fresh hops.
A nice sort of complex malt taste with roasted malts. Tastes like a lighter porter.
Flavor though is weak and watery and a bit gritty or course. I get the impression that it has been diluted.
I think this could be a desent beer if it only had a little more flavor and body.
