Notes:
This extremely pleasant to drink ale has very minimal hop addition. The delicate Mt. Hood hops give it a smooth body with a bit of nuttiness and a slightly sweet malt at the end. This sessionable ale has some wonderful vanilla and honey notes that are well balanced throughout the drink.

A: Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger cream colored head. Some good lace down the glass.
S: A light, bready aroma with some caramel, hazelnut, oak and maybe a hint of orange.
T: Smooth and malty with light breadiness, some lemon, a bit of grain, watered down honey and some faint grassy hops. I don't have a ton of experience with this style, but this is pretty good. Light and pretty refreshing without being too boring.

Beer #49 in my great Utah Brew Hunt.
This is a pretty standard kind of mild with earthy tones and it's a pretty easy drinker overall. There is a somewhat fruity thing going on, in a mild ale, beer-ish kinda way.
Like I said: this is a pretty even keeled mild ale. Nothing really outlandish or out there, but pretty well done.
I'd say it's great to have a mild ale, but so much of the beer in Utah is 4% abv that this is actually a "heavy" beer. (Ha!)

Release #15
Pours amber with a solid sheet of off white fine foam, great clarity. Nose carries a sweet bread character, some metal, leaves, wood, white grape jelly, and the slightest hint of connecticut leaf tobacco. Flavor is a bit astringent, some cardboard, some loose grain, a bit of oatmeal (plain), some raisin, and a hint of pekoe. Medium bodied with moderate carb and an off dry finish. Nice beer I can appreciate.

Bomber of Release #10.
Appearance: Hazy copper hue with a pillowy white head that disappears quickly.
Aroma: Sweet bread and malty notes. Caramel and a slight fruityness. Not the sort of fruit you get from hops but more of a yeast fruit smell.
Taste: Interesting palate. While it's light and there's not too much going on, there are a lot of flavors (subdued flavors that is). Though it's light on the hops, there is a little bit of a piney/spicy hop character, but that takes a backseat to the bready malts. There is a bright apricot or similar fruit flavor that blends nicely with the malt. Actually feels lighter than the 5% abv and it seems like there could be more flavor packed into that 5% abv. It's as if someone took a APA or ESB and added a cup of water to it.
Mouthfeel: A little over-carbonated and light bodied. Above average drinkability.
Final Thoughts: I'm not sure where I stand on this one. I wouldn't buy it again, but I would recommend it to someone who is new to craft beer. It's basically an average beer but far from being memorable.

Let's just start up front - this was not my kinda thing.
Too sweet.
It looks ok in the glass, poured a decent head and the smell was inviting but not complex, not interesting in the least.
The taste started fresh and summery but quickly becomes sweet... way too sweet. Carmel, even maple and the overall thin taste leaves me wanting something more satisfying.
As a fan of Epic, a local in Utah ready for more of their good stuff, this one falls off the list quickly.

A - Pours a cloudy amber-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some light lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet biscuity malts with some fruity English yeast esters, with some nuttiness.
T - Starts off with some sweet biscuit or cracker malts with some fruity English yeast esters. Through the middle, some nuttiness and bready malts come through with a bit of bitterness and some more fruitiness. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with fruity English yeast flavors and nuttiness.
M - Medium-minus bodied with mild carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and fruity finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice example of an English mild. Good overall balance and malt profile.

Poured into a pint glass. Release #17, 4.6% ABV.
2.5 A: Moderately hazed medium orange color. Three fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is about average and no lacing is left.
3.5 S: Lightly bready yeast and malts with a pleasant nuttiness. That's about all.
3.5 T: Same as the nose. Lightly bready and nutty. Yeasty to round things out.
3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy and smooth.
3.5 D: Tasty beer. Not a lot of complexity, but good enough.

Release #14, 4.8% ABV. Orange-tan color that is cloudy. The head is made up of rather large bubbles. Low hopping rate with a slight earthy aroma and flavor. Quite drinkable with a smooth mouth feel. This is one I will buy again and is the first Mild Ale I have tasted.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into an Allagash cervoise glass. Release #12. 5.0%. This has been sitting around for several months, so I don't hold high hopes.
A: Lots of bubbles and a finger of loose white head. Nut brown and lightly translucent. Light lacing.
S: Skunky/earthy hops and mild malt. Almost metallic.
T/M: Interesting! Light, sharp, almost sulfuric fruit. This may sound unpleasant, but is not. The taste is a bit underwhelming, with some buttery-sweet malts, but the light, watery base is complemented by carbonation and a dryish endtaste.
O: Very drinkable and good for what it is. I wouldn't have another, but I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, sessionable, English-style ale.

Release #6.
Pours amber with hints of orange and tiny bit of haze. Two fingers of off-white head, decent retention, some lacing. Not bad, not amazing.
Smell is, as expected, mildly malty. Subtle grainy malts with light grassy hops. Pleasant, inoffensive, and promising.
Taste is pretty good. A nice mellow balance of malts and hops, but reasonably flavorful. Very faint bitterness, just enough to keep things interesting, that picks up with a little prickle of carbonation about half-way through.
Mouthfeel is good. Medium-light body, medium carbonation. Smooth and a fine complement to the rest of the beer.
Quite a flavorful session ale. A great example of what a low-ABV beer can be, solid across the board. Very nice, mellow, balanced, and flavorful, without needing to bludgeon you with any of its elements.

A- Deep amber with a decent white head that dissipates to a persistent quarter inch or so. A little darker than I was expecting but very attractive.
S- Light grassy hops, a little cracker-like malt, and a slight metallic aroma.
T- Fairly sweet upfront with a good dose of caramel but it dries out quickly. The hops have an interesting grassy/ mineral character and add a light but persistent bitterness. Finishes semi-dry with a hint of butterscotch and a little mineral bitterness.
M- On the light side of medium and a little creamy. Good dose of carbonation keeps it lively.
I don't know much about milds, but it seems like 5% abv is a bit high. This beer also seems a little heavier than I would imagine a mild to be. Nevertheless, this is a very tasty beer and one I would not mind drinking anytime. Recommended.

Release #6.
This is currently the #7 ranked English Pale Mild Ale here on BA. Geez... only an 80% approval rating? Needless to say, this is not a very popular style.
Served in a FFF shaped glass.
A: Poured a rather dark and saturated, gold color, with a slight chill haze, and a flimsy 1/8 finger head that stuck around for a bit.
S: VERY doughy and bread-like, with soft fruit and hop character, with a slight, cotton quality overall. Nice.
T: I really dug the liquid bread finish on this one. However, the front part started out a bit bland, but then got more intense in its sugar content as the session grew on. This one played the sweet/not-too-sweet game like a well-tuned fiddle.
M: I wish the carbonation was a bit more and this one needed to be a little more "bubbly" overall. The lacing was quite robust.
O: I'd have this one again. It's simple, well crafted, and quite tasty.

On tap at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood, CA.
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is pretty subtle with some grain and slight fruity aromas. Taste is also very subtle with grain and some fruity and almost tea-like flavors. This beer has a low level of carbonation with a somewhat flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer in my opinion but it's the first of the style I have had (finally!).

Orange color with a small white head with fair retention and spotty lacing. The aroma has toasted malt and biscuit aroma.
The beer tastes like it smells. There is toasted malt and biscuit flavor. Not much sweetness or hop presence.
Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. There is not much which stands out, and this seems too generic to get excited about. I'm glad I tried it, but am not impressed.

Pours a dark amber color with a one finger off-white head. Good lacing on the side of my snifter. Fairly hazy in appearance. The nose is caramel, floral notes, honey, mild hops, malt. Fairly weak, although pleasant smell to this beer. The taste is completely different than the nose. I get hops, caramel, nuts, and malt. Not bad for the style. Feel is light, with light carbonation and a slightly malty finish. Overall, a decent beer in the style. Cheers.

Can a mild ale be at 5%? Guess will find out how she goes, pouring into a nonic pint glass. Release #6.
A bit dull cloudy appearance, probably unfiltered, with a body color that is a dull murky orange and brown. Head is simple foamy off white, picking up some of the orange body color and about two/three fingers off the pour. Seems to fall at a good clip.
Nice light toasted malt body, but also fairly fruity esters here. Quite nice, kind of simple and good. A faint hint of chocolate sense.
Light palate but doesn't get watery in the feel. Light toasted grain comes through with some hints of citrus orange. Finish has a nice quenching character, and goes down nicely. Carbonation is just about right.
OVerall pretty easy drinking, sort of has an English Pale Ale style to it, but quite tasty I must admit.

Amber color is nice but chill haze and tiny floaters won't win any beauty contests. Nice mouthful of malt with the hoppy aromatics working in the background. Modest beery aroma with a touch of applesauce. A pleasant quaff with just that hint of hops. Very plain and lacking in much-needed zing. It's not bad, but I don't find it a contender among the many light beers to be had here.
I'm not sure why they decided to make a "mild" that's 25% higher in alcohol than the Utah draft limit of 4%. ABV Release No. 11, with 5.1% ABV.

Rusty Orange with a fine head. Little hazy. Smells like brown sugar and earth. Taste begins smooths with caramel and moves quietly to nutty. A very malty profile no doubt, with hints of candied fruit toward the finish. The feel is wonderful! Like I was drinking a stout on NO2. Low carbonation tends to bring out this sort of malty sweet flavor.
A caramel delight. Very smooth and "mild," which for my palate, is just what the doctor ordered.

Another Epic! Excellent. Can't quite read the batch number on the bomber, so no idea when it was brewed, but hey, at least there's some indication. 5.2% ABV on the label. Points.
I'm used to milds being darker, but maybe that's just the handful I've had. This one pours a darker yellow with orangishity, middling clear, not easy to see through. Smells bready. Wonder Bread.
Mid Mountain Mild Ale doesn't taste quite right. Almost a nut brown taste up front, plenty of acorns, but then a slab of margarine intrudes, & not politely. Diacetyl? Not sure, but it's unpleasant. Crusty bread comes through faintly, but the butter reasserts itself aggressively.
Blech. A rare disappointment from Epic, but this has the hallmarks of a bad bottle. Not good.

A: Pours a dark amber with a slightly off-white head that dissipates quickly, but leaves nice lacing.
S: This smells really nice. It has a strong toffee-like maltiness and light floral and citrus characteristics.
T: The bitterness comes out straight away and lasts through the experience. Big floral notes here, and surprisingly, the sweetness that came in through the scent isn't present. I wish it was a bit more balanced than it is, but overall not too bad.
M: Light bodied and moderately carbonated.
D: This is an excellent drinker! All day long, it is quite quaffable.

bomber into tulip. release #6 of the exponential series.
A: caramel hued brew. very hazy. murky even. white head looks good and has some retention. lacing looks good as the brew goes down.
S: some gentle, earthy hop aroma works its way into a mostly malty/fruity aroma. light caramel and toasted grains. a little diacetyl?
T: some hop bitterness. similar to the nose, a little buttery. toasted malts. a little roast too, but definitely light. caramel even. bitterness in the finish. almost minty-like.
M: a very natural, gentle carbonation on a light body. well executed.
D: at 5%ABV this would definitely be on the heavy end of the English Pale Mild category. i have had better milds at lower abv's, which is something signature about this style. however, reviewing it simply as what is in my glass, drinkable, but not worth seeking out.

Poured into an imperial nonic a hazed coppery color with a very thin almost nonexistent head, aromas are nutty with light sweet biscuit,a lingering toastiness as well.Flavors are of nutty malt with some caramel/biscuit,the hops as expected are light giving off a light herbal note in the finish. Not bad for what it is,not quite as sweet as a traditional mild wich is fine with me.

Bottle. Not sure I’d consider 5% a mild but here goes. Poured into a Surly pint glass a clear golden color with a white thick head. Clean, light biscuit flavor in the nose with a touch of sweetness. Semi clean taste with some fruit flavors and a touch of what I can only describe as a plastic taste. Ends crisply. Decently easy drinking. Medium mouthfeel. Ex the plastic note, this wasn’t too bad.

Hazy orange color with no head or lacing. Aroma is light mix of pale malts, a touch of caramel and and very light, citrusy hoppiness, but almost non-existent. Taste is right on with the nose. Bready malts, light caramel, light graininess, but overall smooth and easy to drink. Completely non-offensive in any way. Just a good drinking, pale beer. Medium body, light carbonation. Not bad at all! My first beer from Utah. If this were canned and priced at around $6.99 for a sixer, I would drink it all the time.

A: Pours a hazy copper color with big fluffy cream colored head.. and lots of it... good 2 plus fingers on the first pour... it settles to a thin layer with good lacing. Looks very good.
S: Slight hint of caramel and honey... maybe a little vanilla mixed in... I'm also getting a little floral hops.
T: Quick hit of tartness... then a nice rounded off sweetness... hints of honey and vanilla with a little biscuit like malt. Clean finish with just a touch of floral hops.
M: Carbonation is lively at first then settles... Light to mid bodied
O: Very nice looking and well balanced brew.. could be a very nice session beer....
