-Best by july 2013. Lot#288. Consumed 5/2/13.

A: Dirty orange , creamy, milky, buff toned head is slight, shortly holding. Thin broken stratified ring lacing of modest coverage.

S: Leafy celery aroma, some spiciness of floral lemon-citrus. Woodsy, fresh shrubbery with sweet toasted grains.

T: The marris otter provides a deep creamy malt base while the dry chinook hops leave a flowery, pollen like coating on the tongue. Some dry flowery pine and celery, leafy hop cones, with a strong level of dry hops linger quite a bit. A dry malt powdery leave with flashes of toasted grain sweetness peeking out every once in awhile.

M: Milky, creamy mouthful, dry hops with a soft residual malt coating.

O: Overall flashes of malt sweetness mingles with the dry chinook hops and a creamy malt base and residual coating all points to a solid entry and worthy try. I find the malt base quite unique here from the marris otter and worth it just for that.

A- Poured from growler (got on tap at bottle shop) into pint glass. Mid to Light amber color
S- Smelled lightly of citrus and pine
T- Very hoppy, immediately. Tasted some bitterness similar to that of a grapefruit, delicious!
M- Very crisp, had a fruity aftertaste. I loved how aggressive the hops were in the beginning and it had a nice finish, no lingering of any unwanted flavors (IMO)

Definitely love this IPA, I think its from around the Pittsburgh area, so I'm lucky that my local Philly bottle shop had it on tap. Definitely an IPA I would pick up again. (Modest price: $17 for a 64 oz growler)

Pours a cloudy orange copper color with a finger of head that quickly dissipates. Limited to no real lacing. Overall a solid looking brew but you wouldn't pick it out as an IPA on appearance alone.

Aroma is grapefruit and citrus blended with a malted caramel background. The hops are first and foremost but a level of balance does exist.

A strong but not too strong hop bitterness hits right away and quickly fades off to let the hop flavors truly come through with just a touch of maltiness to keep things balanced. Just as soon as the flavors begin to dance the hop bitterness comes back and washes it all away with a dry and crisp finish making this one very drinkable.

The body is actually very light all things considered and the dry crisp hop finish goes very well with it. The carbonation is just right. All in all the mouthfeel is the best part of this beer as it makes for a great summer drinker when it is hot and humid.

Overall the flavor is pretty solid and when backed up by the great mouthfeel this makes for a very good addition to any summer cooler on a boat.

This is great stuff!! I'm quite a hophead, and this beer stands out. The nose is fresh hops, and the taste doesn't disappoint. Bitter, grapefruit, grass, and sweaty IPA goodness. Extremely drinkable and yet it can go head to head with bigger IPAs. I'll be buying this by the case. Full Pint does it again!

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a very hazy orange amber color with a one finger white head. The head has good retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma was big of a citrus grapefruit hop mixed with some sweeter tropical and lighter fruit flavors. The tropical fruits were a mix of tangerine, papaya and mango with the lighter fruits being more of a peach and apricot aroma. A light pine and sugary aroma are mixed with these producing an overall fruity and hoppy smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter fruit flavor of tangerine mixed with a bit of lightly roasted malt flavor. A grapefruit hop flavor is present right up front. It starts out of moderate strength and gets stronger as the flavors advance. Tropical fruit flavors begin coming to the tongue more toward the middle of the taste. These however are mostly overshadowed by the hop flavors due to the grapefruit getting stronger as well as an arrival of an earthy and pine hop taste more toward the end. In the end a very grapefruit hop and moderately fruity (but lighter the hop flavor) is left to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thinner side for a IPA of its 6.2% abv with a carbonation level that is rather average. Fairly decent overall for the big hoppy and fruit flavors of the brew all while keeping it nice and easy drinking.

Overall – A fairly citrus hoppy but still pretty easy drinking IPA. Well worth a try.

Light amber hazy color

Wonderfuly bright, citrus, grapefruit aroma....begs the first sip

Will appeal to "hopheads"....heavy on IBU's...puckering...lingering "aspirin" aftertaste

Pretty good mouthfeel and head retention....nice legs

Pretty nice IPA...like most IPA's, balance this one out against some spicy wings

Poured into a Founders snifter on 3/11/13

Best by Aug 2013
Lot 304

Dark honey and copper hues with some mild haziness. It didn't pour much of a head; only about a 1/8th inch. Thin, soapy retention with some drip of tightly speckled lace.

The hop aroma is fairly different; usual suspects with a bit of uniqueness. Pine and oily grapefruit with candied notions and a hints of lemon soap and herbs. Sugar beet sweetness and biscuit.

Tasting the beer for the first time makes the aroma become displeasing thereafter.

Speaking of first tastes, how about a weird mash up of pine/herbal hops, bready malt and something akin to grapefruit cough syrup (if there is such a thing; if there isn't, it needs to stay that way because this beverage is all the world needs of such a peculiarly bad flavor). It's harsh, almost fusel-like.

The body is medium with a rolling, highly granular and gritty feel underneath the oily slickness. Moderate carbonation. The finish is dry and littered with bitter aspirin.

The bitterness is so bad the finish exhibits characteristics of oxidation and burnt charcoal although neither are an actual concern with this beer.

The saddest thing about this is that is seemly like a well-constructed bad beer. Get rid of the damn aspirin bitterness. What a waste of good hops.

Poured from a bottle. Very light head that did not linger long.
I love the coppery color but just a bit hazy .
The initial flowery/hoppy smell is nice but it is quickly overtaken by a sour smell that is not so good.
The initial taste is light almost sweet followed by the hops bitterness. A second slightly different hops supplies the finish typical of a hoppy brew. I get a slight alcohol taste at the end.
The mouthfeel is light with carbonation that is more evident on the sides and back of the tongue. The carbonation seems more evident once it hits my stomach.
Overall a pretty good representation of an IPA, plus you gotta love the name Chinookie.

The Full Pints were new this week at Save On, and I bought two. After the other incredible beers I had earlier, this is more like more like home brew.

The head is OK and there is some lace. The color is about right. The aroma is where it started downhill. There is a lot of AIPA hoppiness but there is a funky smell too.

The taste has a bit of dirty off color taste too. Metallic and just wrong. The aftertaste is a little better.

Overall, this is not a very good AIPA, but it's not horrible either.

A- hazy pale copper color with poor head and no lacing.

S- pungent tropical citrus fruits. smells like apple, grapefruit and pineapple.

F- strong on the grapefuit and citrus.

M- dry and citrus...just like an IPA should be. simple yet tasty.

O- Not a bad IPA. The flavor and mouthfeel saved it though. It is a nice fail safe if you are out somewhere.

This is a pretty straightforward IPA that utilizes the Chinook hops fairly well but doesn't show much more than a one dimensional show. Earthy and dirty with tones of citrus and pine. Got more earth as time went on. Not too bad really. Could use a bit more vibrance for my personal taste.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. A bit of floaties in it. Smell is of hops, some tropical fruits. Taste is bitter, hoppy, a bit of tropical fruits, somewhat unbalanced for my liking. Feels medium bodied and bitter in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Chinookie pours a hazy orange color with a smaller, yet very persistent head. The aroma has a strong candied citrus hop blast. Caramel malts hang out in the back. The taste presents a good deal more hop bitterness than the nose, that takes most of the brunt out of the candied fruits and citrus on the nose. The mouthfeel seems a bit too light, and the drinkability is solid. Overall, another good IPA. There's not enough room in my fridge for a good IPA when so many great ones are available though.

Poured from a 12 FL OZ bottle into a pint glass. BEST BY MAY2013. LOT 281.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy brown body with a thin white head. Beer is very "thick" looking.

Smell: Citrusy hop aroma. Somewhat sweet in the nose.

Taste: VERY HOPPY. Bordering on Stone Ruination territory. The bottle label talks about this beer being hopped four times during the brewing process and then dry hopped, all of which is very evident. Grapefruit, tropical fruits and a pine finish. This is actually delicious.

Mouthfeel: Very thick and leaves quite an aftertaste.

Overall: I tend to prefer hoppy ales with light bodies, but at the same time will knock beers I perceive as too "watery". This has a fairly light body (as evident in the 6.2 ABV), but has a ton of hop flavor. My taste buds want to shout Stone Ruination clone, but it is not quite as refined.

Served in a pint glass on tap at 3 Rivers 6 Pack.

Hazy orange, clearly rising bubbles, with a crisp white head. Tons of layered lacing.

Smells slightly citrusy and resinous, with pine and hops.

Pulp, malt, lemon citrus zest all come through in taste.

Feel is thick with medium carbonation. Smooth with a really pulpy aftertaste.

Overall this is better than I remember it being in a bottle. It's a little too zesty for my liking, but it's still decent. Cheers.

This beer poured out as a nice looking copper color with a head light cream colored head on top. The retention and lacing are decent. The smell of this beer was earthy and piney. Lots of big hop aromas. The taste is loaded with resin-like flavors, very piney and just a touch of sweet malt in there too. The mouthfeel of the beer is smooth, very dry in the finish but still very drinkable in my opinion. Overall it's a pretty good IPA. I would drink it again.

Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a half finger of off white head. The head fades to a ring around the pour.

Smell: Citrus peel hops with an assertive malt sweetness in the background. I'm getting some juicy citrus notes along with the straight up bitterness.

Taste: More citrus hops. The bitterness builds to the end of each sip, but at the very end I'm getting a bready malt note along with the hops. Definitely getting some juicy citrus notes here too.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a finish that's not quite as dry as it should be.

Overall: I enjoyed the balance in this beer. Plenty of malt but still lets the hops do their thing.

Bottle poured in to pint glass. Best by 1/31/2013 printed on case.

Murky copper color with an orange hue when the light hits. Some little floaties were present. About one finger of off-white head formed and then settled into a thin layer of foam. No lacing.

Pine, grapefruit, and other citrus. Caramel malts and a finish of bitter hops.

Bitter hops are pretty strong throughout with notes of citrus and pine. Malt backbone holds everything up incredibly well. Lingering bitter and peppery finish.

Full bodied with a medium weight. Kind of tannic and it feels over-carbonated.

Very easy to drink brew. I found the pepperiness quite enjoyable. Another nice brew from Full Pint.

Yellowish, tea-colored beer with a thick, foamy head that retains well. Upon popping the cap I was greeted with a blast of sweet, citrusy hops that was soon accompanied with aromas of molasses and wheat. Tastes of creamy orange and sweetened citrus peel. This is a really smooth IPA with just a pinch of bitterness in the finish. Really drinkable.

A: definitely hazy. very rich orange hued brew. head is bubbly and inviting. retention is decent, but with good lacing.

S: lemon, grapefruit. caramel, toasted bread. boatloads of piney fresh smells.

T: very pine, very chinook. definitely some notes of grapefruit as well. a little bit of caramel flavor right in the middle. a little bit dark toasted. finish is very bitter, earthy, and resinous. the bitterness lingers right through the finish without being overbearing.

M: average carbonation on a medium body.

D: pretty tasty A-IPA from a brewery i have never had anything from before. really enjoying the chinook factor, but there is definitely enough malt to keep everything balanced.

Serving Type - Bottle

Appearance - Classic golden tan/yellow ipa. Nice 1 inch creamy head and great lacing.

Smell - Hops, sweet fruits, orange, lemon, some grapefruit. Minor malts, not alot else.

Taste - As featured, chinookie hops with a mild malt backbone. Not overly sweet or bitter, or no alcohol comes out either. Hops are bold, mildy sweet, and one dimentional. A bit of a pale malt flavor mixed in with some added sugars comes out at the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light and smooth, tounge gets the hops and malts, then palette gets the rest of the hops and malts along with some sugars and a little spice. Afertaste is lighty bitter and piney.

Overall - Pretty tasty and different. Easy to drink, and is done quite well. Dont let the use of one style of hop scare you away. Its hopped up, then dry hopped to give it plenty of flavor. Worth a drink for sure.

A - Dark orange. Leaves some lacing. Retains a small head. Pretty frothy with big bubbles.

S - Little grapefruit and citrus. Not a very pungent smell.

T - Same as the smell. Some bitterness with some grapefruit and citrus notes. Nothing special here.

M - Pretty light mouthfeel. No alcohol presence.

O - Slightly above average IPA. Wouldn't get another one. Probably not bad as a session beer. Pretty refreshing and crisp, which is its main redeeming quality.

Picked up a single at Abe's Cold Beer, but I wouldn't mind having a few more bottles around. I'm impressed by the depth of this IPA. The aroma is more of pugent, resiny pint, with a hint of biscuit malt, then the flavor dives off into sharp citrus rind and an spicy grapefruit finish. There seems to be a little bit of everything in there.

The finish is dry and biting, just how I like an IPA. And the body isn't too heavy. It's not session-weight beer, but I'd be happy split a 6-pack with a good friend. Check this out. While the flavors aren't the same, the development reminds me of fresh Two-Hearted Ale.
