The Fat Cat is without question one of the best restaurants/bars in Quincy Center. The food here is exceptional and the beer selection is well thought out and pure quality.
I've been here at least half a dozen times since they opened. The food at this place is the focus, but they are equally as successful at being a good small bar.
They offer an innovative array of dishes and meticulously define their specials by Soup, Grain, Catch, Chef's Special, Game and Desserts. The seafood is remarkably fresh and the food is creative and well crafted.
Selections include salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pasta and entrees. Absolute highlights are their mac & cheese and wings. You can add just about anything to the mac & cheese like lobster, steak, crab, chicken and hot dog. Then there is the Ultimate Fat Mac ($34) that offers all of the aforementioned meats. Crazy! The Mac & Cheese portion is huge.
In terms of tap selections, today included Troegs Dead Reckoning Porter (delicious), Mayflower Autumn Wheat, Blanche De Bruxelles, Berkshire Oktoberfest, Blue Hills IPA, Saranac Pumpkin Ale, Belhaven Scottish Ale and Guinness. I really appreciate the seasonal and regional focus on the draft selections.
Bottle selection is really good too with Smuttynose IPA, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Victory Golden Monkey, LT Double Bag, and Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter. Couple of Belgian options like Chimay Grand Reserve and Duvel. The beer selection is somewhere between a 4.0 and 4.5, but the focus is on quality over quantity which I like. Fat Cat offers tasty signature cocktails as well.
Atmosphere is cool. I definitely like the decor and colors. The bar is awesome, but seating can be very cramped and crowded at the tables. Beware - this place fills up quickly some days and evenings, but that validates how solid this place is.

I had been looking forward to try this place for a long time, but had heard that it was tiny and usually packed. So, decided to hit it for an early dinner on a weeknight (Wed @ 6) and actually got right in.
Small but cozy space. Long bar runs along one side with standing room opposite. Dining area on the opposite side, with around 12-15 tables. I imagine this could be quite stuffed when busy, but was comfortable when I was there.
About 7-8 rotating drafts, concentrating on local/regional (Berkshire, Mayflower, Blue Hills),a Belgian tap and a DFH tap. Short bottle list too. Beers served tasted clean and at good temps.
Food menu is tight but hits all the right notes: Chicken, steak, seafood, sandwiches, all served with a bit of a twist. I had the tuna steak (served seared/rare as requested) my friend had the mac-n-cheese with chirizo (their house specialty). Both of us were really satisfied with our meals.
Friendly, prompt service too.
Good pick if you're in the Quincy/S shore area.

Went for the first time this past Saturday for dinner. Had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table, so sat at the bar. The bartender told me they had Mayflower Summer Rye, so I ordered one. He poured it, then told me, oops, it was Mayflower Pale Ale. He gave it to me for free. So began a great experience. After being seated, we were served by a very friendly young woman who made us feel at home. The menu has great diversity, as did the specials, and the prices are so reasonable, most entrees in the mid to high teens at most, with many sandwich selections, mac & cheese, much more. We had the crab cakes, which were fabulous, and fried dill pickle slices, also very good.
I had the full rack of ribs, which barely fit on the plate and lasted for 2 meals. Great ribs.
I also drank a Blue Hills IPA, then a Belgian witbier they had on draft. OK, I wouldn't exactly call it a craft beer bar, but the choices were more than adequate, and they have many bottles I could have ordered and been happy as well. I am fussy when it comes to beer, but left with no complaints. More like a great place to eat that also has good beer choices to compliment that.
The value, service, and food were so good, I loved it and can't wait to get back there. Ran into some sort of parade in Quincy center after dinner and thought we would be stuck forever in the city, but eventually escaped.

I've been here several times.
The draft selection focuses on local breweries, there's usually a couple from Blue Hill and Mayflower. This was the 2nd place I've seen with Blue Hill on tap. The owner said he wanted to support local businesses, which I appreciate. Some decent bottle selections: I've had a couple of selections from Victory and my wife likes that they have Lindeman's.
The food is good, and if you are looking to keep the bill down, it's possible as the sandwiches are reasonably priced and good sized.
You won't find anything off the wall here, but for Quincy Center, it's a winner.

My go to in Quincy. Absolutely love this place. It is definitely more about the food here than the beer. The beer selection is always solid. Bottle selection a bit better. I do not come here for the beer however. Its more about the food. This is the first restaurant I have ever ordered a special. Its now all I order. If in Quincy and you are looking for a good restaurant with a quality tap selection, this is your place.

The Fat Cat in Quincy is a truly unique dining experience. Comfort food done at its best. Mac and Cheese, burgers, nachos, all done in unique ways.
A great beer selection with monthly specials, makes Fat Cat a place worth returning to over and over again.
Be sure to try their special dipping sauces and spices for their french fries, some of the best in town.
If you do venture out to Quincy, be sure to get there early. The Fat Cat is rather small, and very popular, so seating comes at a premium.

This is a little Beer/Foodie gem in Quincy Center.
Got the name of the place from a friend who lives near here and wow! The Food is Awesome! The Mac & Cheese is great! I had the Crab Mac and it was really good... But... here is what is important...
Beer Selection. They "only" have 8 taps, but all of the taps were all craft beers (i think one was actually Duvel Green)....But they always have a local or two (last time both Mayflower & Blue Hill's IPA)
But the Bottle Selection was really good... I recently had a Stoudt's Double IPA. The Bottle list was really good...
I would suggest trying out The Fat Cat not only for a fairly solid beer selection (taps and Bottles), but for the awesome food. There area a lot of places to get good beer now-a-days, but it is great to find a place that a good beer selection and GREAT FOOD!

This is THE place to eat in Quincy as reflected in their sometimes 1+ hour waits for a table. And don't think calling ahead will secure you one, they don't take reservations.
Not very big, but a nice bar to sit at and only maybe 20 tables in total. There are about 8 beers on tap but none of them are macros aside from Guiness. But try to get away without having Guiness on tap in Quincy and you won't last long, even Mexican and Chinese eateries have it. The bottle list is more extensive and has some interesting choices while not being too pricey for the average Joe.
And this is not a place to only go for drinks, the food is amazing and be sure to ask about the specials as there is always at least one that'll get your attention. Oh and the mac and cheese is great!

I'm a regular at this place and love going there. It's atmosphere (when you can get in) is down to earth and comfortable. The food is very good, but they don't change things up very often. I have, however, had the best steak there of anywhere on the south shore.
Beerwise, I must say this is not a destination place for beer. The tap list is small and doesn't change up very often. Maybe one or two change a month. However what they do offer are usually solid. No macro brews on tap, which is always a good thing. The bottle list does offer more variety with plenty of fun choices.
