I visited gillies after browsing the blacksburg farmers market on a saturday morning. After working up an appetite, i decided to try out this vegetarian eatery.

I had the red earth, which is scrambled eggs over potatoes topped with salsa and toast or a biscuit on the side. The potatoes we cooked with fresh herbs, the eggs we delicious and the salsa also tasted fresh. The service was great and the atmosphere is relaxing.

The restaurant hosts some great musical acts on a regular basis, which may at times bring me back in the evening. They have a decent selection of craft beer in bottles and on tap. While i do not see this as a session drinking spot, it is a great restaurant to try something different in a relaxing setting.
