Stopped here after work one day. Great selection. Looked up the place online before actually driving up and actually going there exceeded my expectations. Being from Pennsylvania, I loved grabbing singles and bombers and not worrying about max oz. per transaction.Being from Northeastern Pennsylvania, it was nice to grab some Goose Island/Lagunitas/Captain Lawrence, which I can't find at home. One of the great employees went to the back and sold me his own bottle of Abacus.(Thanks again!) Highly recommended if you're in the Poughkeepsie area. I plan on going back and I'm an hour and a half away!!

A rare store that ships to RI!
Customer service online is exceptional. Let's get this out of the way first. The prices are more than reasonable and I bet you to find lower shipping costs.
The selection is top notch too. The website is easy to navigate, the stock is routinely updated and the beers are super easy to find.
I picked up some Nugget Nectar, Double Simcoe, Hersey, Cigar City and Anderson Valley. Shipped fast!
The beers were all very fresh. No dating issues at all! The online store is highly recommended.

Yeah, it's that good.
Also, the on-line store doesn't really count, so don't judge Half Time based on what you can order there, because visiting this place is completely different.
The first thing that greets me as I walk into Half Time is a large, multilevel display table covered with discounted beer. Although a lot of these beers are hoppy varieties that I would only buy when extremely fresh, who cares? They are on sale after all. A handful of the beers would be wonderful with age, or at least stand up, so pick through the table if you're interested in a deal.
This place is huge. There are aisles of imports from all over the world and aisles of good American beer, along with cases of less interesting stuff. The back walls are lined with coolers full of beer. To the left on the back wall is a growler fill station with twelve choices. One draft beer that sticks in my mind from the selection is Cigar City Jai Alai.
Everything you would expect to find at a beer store is here, and a few rarer bottles are behind the counter. Some highlights include: Lou Pepe Kriek (and 4-5 other Cantillions), Smoke from the Oak gift pack (all 3 bottles), Firestone 14, Goose Island Rare, Keegan Ales Super Kitty, Bourbon Barrel Old Stock, He'Brew Jubilation Vertical, Brute, Some harder to find Nogne brews, Cigar City Humidor and many others.
The man working the cash register was more than happy to talk about beer with me, and he definitely knows his stuff. One of the best service experiences I have had at a beer store, hands down.

I've only used the online version o' this store, but it has always been a good experience. The selection is top-notch, especially in terms of singles. They provide a very nice smattering of brewery choices from across the country and around the world at some very nice prices. The shipping is very reasonable, and they encourage half- and full cases in order to maximize the costs. I do not mind picking out a mixed case any day. I have yet to have an issue with a single order (I've placed three thus far this year), but they've been quick to answer my questions via e-mail. Overall, I look forward to future purchases that I will have from them. Good times.

Ok. Only Service and Value are truly appropriate here for this review. But I had to put something in. I started showing up here not too long after they opened and on average about 4x/year. Its always been a stellar experience. I've learned in the last year or two though that the prices are amongst the highest in the entire Hudson Valley (Glens Falls to Manhattan).
Its not a conveniently easy place to get to (for me). A minimum of 30 mins out of my way and somtimes a 30 mile total oomw. But always worth the visit.
Not this time. Sunday afternoon 10 October. I get there about 4:45P I've got a mixed bunch of bottles for return (2-3 cases) and I start pickling -- because what if they close at 5Pm and stop bottle returns at 4:45P? I hate carrying these suckers around. I breathe a sigh of relief, they close at 6pm. Bottle return and shopping s/b a pleasure.
I walk in. the place is void of customers. two emps sitting jawing at the counter. "Oh, sorry our bottle return closes at 4:30". "But I just drove half an hour out of my way". "no, sorry we had sooo many today". "Well, I won't be buying anything then" And I walked out.
I get rules. But they _weren't doing anything_ and the store didn't close for over an hour. I wasn't asking them to cut a certified check for the returned deposit or to write Title insurance for my house. Just take a couple of cases of returns and make a sale (i usually spend $150+growlers). It really makes me pause to think if I'll ever go back.
So, the service was awful. And the place was even more expensive than usual because I just wasted time and gas for nothing.

I visited their website and found an interesting gift pack called Barleydine Pick 6 pack. Some interesting brews included in the pack:
Ithaca Flower Power IPA(had a Growler serving, now get to sample from the bottle)
Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale(had many times and love it)
Keegan Ales Mothers Milk Stout(new to me)
Southampton Altbier(3rd time tasting)
Loose Cannon Hop IPA(new to me)
Ommegang Three Philosophers (2nd time tasting)
The price came to US$29.99 including shipping so I had to give it a go. Speedy response to my order and shipping was equally impressive. I see a LOT of beer that they carry interest me so I'll be ordering from them again. A top notch outfit in my book!

Not the best beer store in the USA, but certainly up there. About a half dozen rows of beers, plus a clearance area, where I picked up a magnum of red & white mikkeller. Excellent US micro selection, however I found the foreign to be merely par. Good selection of glssware as well. A long shlep up a smaller highway. A good rotation of bottles, I had no qualms of grabbing lagers. Love the single bottle freedom. Some harder to finds like Coronado. Good help offered and given to bring out boxes. $225 later but no free glassware. No worries.

Not much else can be said about this place that hasn't been already. They have massive amounts of imports and domestic micros with the ability to buy a single bottle, a large fridge section, and 12 taps for growler fills that change regularly! The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The store itself is very clean, organized, and well laid-out (domestic micros and imports organized by country). While they occasionally have problems keeping some items in stock, it's forgivable as there is such a wide and vast selection. Prices for some items can be a little steep, but I have no problem paying for some of the more rare beers I have been able to find here! Save up some cash, because you will have a hard time getting out of here with just one six pack!

To sum up the review: THIS PLACE IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!
Large warehouse located on RT 9, south of "downtown" Poughkeepsie. Large sellection of beer from all over the world, BMCs, Micros, Imports from almost every corner of the globe. If you name a brewer, I will bet they carry at least one offering from them.
They also carry about 6 beers on draft and will fill growlers.
Service was excelent prices were decent, these people know their beer. Definatly going back despite the long drive.

I don't know that a better store exists. The selection was so amazing I couldn't make up my mind.Although the prices are great (not much above distributor),the selection hurt my wallet. If you are not local I suggest saving for the trip. Had I had known I would have taken out a second mortgage and rented a UHaul truck. If it is on the east coast they have it.They also have several taps and various sizes of growlers so you can take home some draught.I even got a complimentary beer glass of my choice upon leaving.
