Driving through Casper on a road trip out west, my girlfriend and I decided to swing by here and pick up a few beers to get us through camping that night.

Walked in and instantly spotted the craft section. A large walk-in cooler housed all the BMC stuff but also a surprisingly sizable selection of American craft beer. I spotted Grand Teton, Breckenridge, Odell, Kona, Alaskan, Lagunitas, Big Sky, and a number of other big-name Western breweries.

Mostly I was there for local beer, and found about three different beers from Snake River out of Jackson Hole. Even more impressive, however, was the row of bombers of The Abyss for only $10.99.

An employee approached me early on to ask if I needed any help, but since I told her I was just looking I can't really judge the service in this place.

Overall, with the exception of Snake River (which I haven't seen outside of this state) and special-edition bottles which apparently just don't sell quickly in Casper, this place had a solid but not particularly special selection. However, taking the location into consideration, it is somewhat of a beer oasis.

The overall selection of beer was exceptional. Prices the best iv found in Casper, WY. Had somewhere around 40 craft and micro brews. Including beers from sierra nevada, deschutes, rogue, big sky brewing, boulder beer company, grand teton brewery, and snake river brewing, also carried a good selection of breckenridge brewing beers. Also has lagunitas, and o'dell beers on the shelf. Personal is great to work with and generally knowledgeable. The store is also willing to work on getting new brews in the store that have requests.

It's been a while since my last stop at 2nd St Liquors but I just stopped by today and what a change! For the better.

A few things caught my eye and...my wallet. My first sighting of beers from Lagunitas, which I learned have entered the WY market for about a month now. I picked up a 6er of their New DogTown Pale Ale and Czech Pils for $7.89 each.

I also picked up some more Deschutes Jubel 2010 and The Abyss for $10.99 a bomber which is the cheapest I've seen in town. I saw some of the Odell bigger beers as well, Woodcut #2 and Indian Barleywine at lower prices.

So...if you're travelling to or through Casper, add this place to your list to visit and pick up some nice brews at very good prices.
