Clear, clean golden straw body. Fat finger of dense, creamy, light beige head. Good lacing. Mildly faint hop aromas of pine and citrus. Some fruity malt underneath. Nice, but a bit understated.

Toasted malts quickly give way to herbal, pine, and citrus hop bitterness. Light malt backbone, with sugar cookie notes. Some light fruitiness as well. Lots of citrus zest in the finish, with steady bitterness. Dry. Moderate body with a nice, lively feel. A very tasty session IPA.

easily the best 4% ipa ive had, maybe the best 4% beer overall. this one pours from the 16oz. can a nice orange glowing golden color with some haze and a foamy off white head rising well over the rim of the glass and sticking around awhile. you couldn't ask an ipa to look much better. the nose is bitter yet fruity somehow as well. some apricot notes amongst the bitter hops, as well as an English biscuit malt profile. the flavor is just about the hops, although balanced, the oily dankness of west coast C varieties dominates here, and the fruity component is relegated to a subtle spot in the finish, tempering out the bitterness. this is really sessionable with its lower abv, and the flavor is full and robust, complex and refreshing. yum. nice carbonation and a medium body left by some unfiltered yeast. you almost don't miss the rest of the alcohol, because everything else happening with this beer is just so spot on. I almost prefer its low abv, it lets me consume more of these tasty offerings. my first beer from moab will not be my last. this is impressive!

Poured into a 16 ounce glass produces a tall off-white froth that dissipates slowly. The smell is resin or solvent like. Strong, but not overly bitter hops taste and smell. If there is malt flavor, it is well overpowered by the hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and not overly carbonated. Hops aftertaste lingers for some time. So much hops I almost recoil at each sip. Maybe I could become accustomed to it, but I do not think I will bother. I'm just not accustomed to drinking beer with such a strong solvent-like flavor.

This beer is 7% ABV in the can I got (in Idaho). Its a decent beer. That is best I can say about it. Its a bit wangy at the end of the taste which makes it less than very good. The packaging is cool. I wouldnt go too far out of my way to drink this beer again. But its not bad.

Beer #10 in the great Utah Brew Hunt.

Man, I wish that the flavor profile on this beer is as strong as the nose. There is an earthy thing going on with some spicy tones going on as well. Overall, it's a bit too earthy for the style, but it still is drinkable. And for what it is, it's consistent in its delivery of flavor.

Pint can given to me by Pastor Brad, thanks! Poured into the Perfect Pint. There seems to be a batch code, but no brewed on date.

Appearance: Slightly hazy golden light amber with a one finger head and nice lacing.

Smell: Plenty of hops on the nose. Grapefruit and pine, but no malt backbone that I can pick up.

Taste: In addition to the pine and grapefruit there is a general herbal quality to the hops. No real malts to stand up to the hops. After the hops up front, the taste just kind of falls off. No lingering finish.

Mouthfeel: Here is the problem with this beer. Moab brewery needs to be able to sell this beer in the grocery stores in Utah, and to be able to do that, they need it to be at 4.0 ABV or less. I don't think I have seen an IPA at 4 ABV before. The body is just not present, it feels really watered down. The carbonation is OK.

Overall: The hop flavor is OK, except for the lack of malt backbone. Unbalanced and weak. Because of the low ABV limit, the whole beer really suffers. I would love to try a full strength version of this one day, at about 6.5 ABV. Maybe this appeals to newer beer drinkers.

Pleasant golden amber in the tall glass. Plenty of carbonation. One nice thing about cans, you get a nice burst of aroma when you pop the top. This one has a robust nose of something like Cascades, but it gets your attention.

Some malty sweetness, but only a little. Quite sharp and on the acidic side. Thoroughly bitter, and pushing it a little with the ultra-light body. Very fragrant with every gulp. Lots of dry, piney flavor.

Happy to see another small brewery packaging in cans. From the 16 oz purchased at Dan's supermarket in Salt Lake.

Utah-beer session, 1/6.

Poured chilled in large water glass

A: cloudy, pale orange; 2-fing head, dissipating gently; pleasant lacing
S: beautiful whoof of pine and pineapple (!)
T: this would be a great IPA if it were a higher ABV. Very prominent hops profile, with a classic razz of pine, grass; not sweet; malts subdued; if anything, tastes a bit watery, probably to get at the 4% threshold. Why, you ask? Utah laws: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_laws_of_Utah

Not bad, if you're going to weather Utah's beer weather.

Pours a very nice cloudy golden yellow color, nice carbonation, HUGE three-finger creamy head, but disappates rather quickly, and leaves some nice sticky lacing. The nose is pretty good, hoppy, slightly malty. The taste is a bit disappointing, but I can understand that, it's pretty hard to make a decent IPA at 4% ABV, but still, kinda hoppy, with some malt notes. Medium body with a slightly dry/bitter finish. Not bad, but pretty lame IPA.

-So im on vacation in Utah and saw these in the grocery and it caught my eye.
-First off, I was very surprised to see that this beer is not yet on beer advocate, especially since I found it in a grocery, so I looked it up.
-Apparently Moab brewery just got started canning their beers and this beer is brand new.
-I have read various stats for this beer, some say 5.5% and others say 4%, the can says 4%. I have also read that this beer is to be re-released at 7% alcohol which is more logical/believable for an IPA.
-Lastly, this beer is sold in 16Oz 4 packs of cans that I managed to find for a meager 6$.

A- Pours crystal clear orange with one finger of a sloppy white head.
S- Smells like hops and a good variety of them, pretty dry smell but fairly fresh, smells slightly dry hopped but it doesnt look the part.
T- Tastes like an IPA, its not going to throw you for a loop by any means but its a very solid IPA. Theres a good blend of hops in here that give this beer a nice taste that seems different with every sip. Hard to pick up on the malts but you dont care with that great hop taste in the way.
M- The first thing I noticed with this beer is that it seems a little too carbonated, It pops in your mouth and can feel like it turns to foam on the way down. Its a full bodied IPA which I expected but was surprised when I read 4% on the can. Not too hard to drink but prepare to burp.
O- This is a good IPA, im glad I decided to pick up this random cluster off the shelf. It has a great hop character, a fulfilling feel and a great price, assuming you can find them.

PS.This is my first added beer and am looking forward to reading future peoples input. Sadly though, this may be the first and last time I enjoy this beer. And drink from the can, it seems hoppier in the can.
