Had on-tap at the GABS festival in Melbourne, and then again several weeks later at the Best of GABS in Sydney (many glasses thereof).

Pours a light red-brown colour, with surprising clarity. Body seems a little light. Head forms a pleasant yellow fine ring which leaves solid lacing in its wake. Minimal carbonation when it's static, but fine and firm when the beer is tilted. Looks good.

Nose is really bright and sharp, all produced with rather deep dark characters. Roastedness is prominent, but the coffee note gives a truly fruity character. Chocolate comes through to provide some basis. Overall, it's a really lovely aroma, and masterfully executed.

Biting front palate gives characters of berry fruit and fresh coffee, followed by more deeper roasted coffee notes and a mild nutty sweetness. Finish has some dusky dry cocoa and chocolate characters. It feels full reaching across the whole palate, side-to-side and front-to-back, meaning it subsides everywhere at once, leaving quite a creamy aftertaste.

The feel is just a little light, but that's about the only weak point to an otherwise excellent brew.

I actually wasn't overly excited by the prospect of this beer when I heard of it, but I must have forgotten who was brewing it. Søren from 8 Wired brings another great beer to the table with this one: it was one of my absolute favourites from the festival.

Picked this up at a great little beer store in Arlon, Miorge Mihoublon. Nice mahogany pour with a two finger beige head with great retention and lacing. The nose is pretty huge and dominated by the coffee. Very roasty and nutty with hints of brown bread, caramel, and hops. The taste is bold and rich and also dominated by the coffee, but there's a surprising hop profile as well. I've tasted a ton of coffee beers, but the coffee in this one really is unique and stands out from the pack. I think it's because most have been stouts, and this Brown Ale really complements the coffee perfectly. Also getting hints of toffee, cocoa, nuts, brown bread, and just a touch of vanilla. The mouthfeel leans to the thick side and is slightly syrupy with a great dry, subtly bitter finish. Overall, this is definitely top 3 in both coffee beers and brown ales. Incredibly drinkable and really stands out. Hoping I can find it again!

Never heard of 8 Wired before. Traded some Founders Harvest Ale for some Event Horizon and a bottle of this.

Poured from a bottle into an Allagash Tulip glass

Appearance is nice and brown. Big head on this baby. Had to wait a bit for it to go down to fill to the top.

Smell is all coffee. Is it 7 AM? Though it does smell like my wife just shoved a spoonful of sugar in it.

Taste is coffee and some nice sweetness. Bitter in the back.

Mouthfeel is a bit carbonated, but not too much

Overall I love this f'ing beer. I need to get more of it. Thanks to Rob at Common Market for this baby. I will be revisiting this soon.

A - Pours brown, like some weak brewed coffee. Eggshell head that doesn't leave a trace.

S - Lots of coffee and some light brown sugar. Very aromatic.

T - Toffee and caramel malts, develops into dominant coffee with a slight bitterness on the end.

M - One of the thickest brown ales I've had. Great carbonation & not over done.

O - For a brown ale, one of the best I've had so far.

A - Pours a cloudy brown with some red-orange mixed in and a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts, roasted coffee, brown sugar, fruity yeast esters, nuttiness, some citrus hops, and a hint of booze.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet caramel malts, fruity yeast esters, and some citrus hops. Through the middle, roasted coffee comes through with a touch of hop bitterness, some nuttiness, and some more fruity yeast character. The finish is a mix of sweet caramel malts, roasted coffee, coffee bitterness, some mild citrus hops, and some fruity esters.

M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a roasty, bitter, and dry finish.

D - Very drinkable. Good brown ale with the coffee adding some nice complexity and depth.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a medium brown color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A lot of coffee in the aroma, but also some malt as well. A good nose.

T: The taste was dominated by the coffee, but there were also some other interesting ingredients as well: A good amount of hops, malt, and that nutty quality of brown ales. The flavor in this beer is big, much bigger than other browns, and it's also complex and extremely tasty.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp, smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: If you're looking for a classic American Brown Ale, look elsewhere. This is an unusual beer, but completely drinkable.

Served from tap into an imperial pint. Poured a deep ruby red with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, bread, coffee, and nutty. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, coffee, and nutty. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. I was really surprised at what I found in this one especially for this style. The coffee note going on in this one was quite excellent and seemed to fit right in on a style I would have normally never thought it would. For this alone, I was quite impressed. The flavor was very well balanced and inviting making it extremely easy to drink. If I hadn’t been meeting another BA later, I definitely would have had quite a few of these that evening. I suggest you get this on your palate if you get the chance.

Pours dark brown with a fading head.
Nose shows hefty coffee, seemingly a mix of fresh and spent grounds though. Underneath that is roasted malt, dark chocolate and oats.
Flavours are dominated by coffee throughout, but again, it does seem a little old. Underneath is some sweet malt and soft alcohol before the roasty bitterness takes over.
Could benefit from a thicker body.
