This one is called Black IPA, so is it a American Black Ale or a American IPA, let's see:
A: Well t's black enough, very dark almost pitch black color. The medium beige head is rather creamy and compact. Nice lacings. It looks lika an ABA.
S: Rich bitter hops, together with loads of floral hops; tropical fruit and pine. Caramell malt, somewhat sweet, a mild hard roasted smell lures in the back along sides with black coffee. It smells like an AIPA, but with a dark twist.
T: Wow; this is like the bastard son of AIPA and ABA; Hard roasted malts, some of it caramell. Strong black coffee and quite some dark bitter chocolate. The bitter hops are still very dominant, but the floral hops are much more held back compared to the smell. The hard roast overpowers the tropical fruits. It tastes like an ABA on steroids rather than a dark AIPA.
M: Long roasted and bitter aftertaste. Rather full body and low carbonation.
O: A nice beer, but the question above isn't answered. This is a mix between the AIPA and the ABA, or like a very dark AIPA where the floral hops is fought back. Perhaps Black IPA should be a new style...
