I'm glad I got to try this one again due to my yearly business trip to Eskilstuna, Sweden. Thanks Peter for the hook-up. I got it home safely and even though the best by date was 3/1/11, it was still rockin.
A: A huge tan rocky head which took a while to settle and yielded a nice creamy lacing all over the glass. Color is very dark brown to black. The creamy covering on top the beer is quite persitent and last to the end.
S: Plenty of chocolate nose and some fresh leafy hops to back it up. Toasted bread notes and a sweet cereal quality. Light fudge like sweet notes topped with caramel.
T: Some nice chocolate notes finishing with a nice fresh cut grass flavor that lingers. Toasty and smoothed out with a good caramel maltness.
M&D: Medium light quality but creamy and that hop finish balances it out and keeps you coming back.
A: Black with a large head, it provided great lacing.
S: Caramel and chocolate malts. Mild leafy hops.
T: Coffee, caramel and chocolate with a leafy hop shot. Aftertaste left a strong leafy hop note. Chinook hops.
D: Went excellent with my blueberry desert soup. Mouthfeel was creamy and drinkability was high. Definitely along the lines of an American Porter and one of the best I've had.

The liquid is pitch black (120 EBC), the high head is brown. Lots of lacing occurs while it slowly sinks down.
The smell is creamy and semi-sweet. American hops and red berries.
The taste is smooth and creamy. Dry roasted, almost burned, flavours. Red berries. Full bodied. The aftertaste got roasted notes of chocolate/cocoa. The finish is a bit salty.
The carbonation is strong; the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is a bit thick.
More of an American stout than a porter. And a very pleasant stout it is.
