Pours a transparent copper body beneath the foamy, tan head, which slowly dissolves to leave a scattered lacing around the glass.
The aroma consists of more sweet malt than I would have expected as well as piney hops and other woodnotes. There may also be some bread qualities and perhaps something resembling maple, my guess is from the oak barrels.
The flavor is fairly sweet with generous malts, toffee, perhaps molasses, light vanilla oak and perhaps a hint of pine hops.
Lighter in body for an oak aged beer with generous carbonation and very little of the oak finish I am accustomed to in such beers.
This brew was ok. I would expect more robust hop flavors and aromas for an American Red that play more with the oak notes. Instead it is much more malt forward. Still a tasty brew.

Got a bomber at Whole Foods, $4.99.
Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. The aroma is indicative of a more malty beer with some spice, ok but nothing special. The taste is fantastic. The malt and hops blend nicely together, creating a flavor of oak and cocoa that actually blend together nicely for a smooth, almost vanilla taste. It's very smooth with a nice body, like a good woman. Definitely going to have another bottle or 5.
