Trapp Golden Helles has a clear, straw colored body and a creamy, bright white. Both retention and lacing are quite good.

The aroma has an array of pale malt as well as grassy hops.

This is a good lager. Lots of pale malt characteristics, including a light sweetness, some crackers and bread. The hops and malt are balanced quite well, with a moderate bitterness and plenty of grassy and earthy flavors from the hops. This is a nice, crisp helles lager.

The body and carbonation are right on for the style.

This beer was good enough to have a few of. I'm looking forward to trying more Trapp beers on future trips, and maybe even visiting the brewery.

Poured on tap at the Trapp Family Lodge into a stoneware mug 16 oz.

Well I can't see this beer other than peering down into the mug after the white creamy foam head settles, ergo I dock off .5 a point. What I can see is a nice fourteen carat gold and clear body, nice creamy white top to go with it. Otherwise it's a 4.

Great smelling crisp malts on this, white bread, a little bit of raw dough and yeast. Bakery fresh smelling. Very nice.

Taste matches the nose nicely. Big huge crisp malts and toasty white bread on this beer. Some hidden sticky character in there also, with some nice simple grass like hop. Refreshing, with a big carbonation matching crispy character.

Overall a real light brew full of flavor. Great beer to have on the deck.

On tap at Trapp Family Lodge.

Crystal bright light golden color with a modest head and lacing.

Rich malty and spicy aroma. Full complex taste on a light lager. It is amazing how much flavor can be piled on such a light frame. Crisp and refreshing with a dry finish. A great example of the Helles style.

Had a pint at the Farm House in Burlington VT. Damn, it's hard to ask for much more from a helles. There's a crisp dry Brady malt character in the aroma with a little balance of spicy hops. There's mild lager fruit over the malt, but it's not sweet. Otherwise it's clean and super drinkable. Find this beer.

Had on draft 12/7 at The Trapp Family Lodge at lunch with the traditional Austrian beef and potato stew.
Served in a pilsner glass

A: This beer pours a light, clear, straw yellow with a two finger of bonewhite foamy head on top. Wisps of lacing are left on the glass.

S: Nose is bready and grainy, with a touch of sweetness to it.

T: Taste starts rather sweet and bready at first, but then lightens to a grain, grassy flavoring. Not a complex beer but a nicely done beer.

M: Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation, crisp at first with a touch oily finish.

O: Goes down easy, tasty, not filling, mild kick, a very good representation of the style.
