Presentation: One liter growler poured into a pint glass. Chilled before being poured. Thanks again to phingdong for another great Hill Farmstead IPA.

Appearance: Pale straw yellow in color and surprisingly cloudy. I can't see anything through the glass. Nice, bubbly, two finger, white head. Recedes into a really nice lacing.

Aroma: Citrus zest, mango, and pineapple. Very tropical and hoppy. Only a light malt backing.

Taste: Lemon and tangerine upfront. Only a touch of bitter pine, but tropical notes of mango and pineapple are stronger. Really tropical and sweet, although the bitterness does build nicely. Really easy to drink. This is disappesaring way too fast from my glass.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied, and nice and prickly on the tongue.

Overall, another great IPA from Hill Farmstead. I love the bright, citrus notes and the drinkability here. This really is a joy to drink. Really damn good. Certainly worth going after.

Big thanks to StormKing47 for sharing this growler on your Black Friday beer adventure. Awesome beer for an awesome trip.

A - Pours murky golden orange with a small, fluffy, one finger tall white head leaving light lace down the glass.

S - Smells of pungent citric hops, tropical fruits; most notably mango and grapefruit; and lightly toasted caramel malt. The balance of light sweetness to juicy hops is very nice.

T - Starts off with a big citric hop bite slowly giving way to a mix of tropical fruits and sweet caramel malt. The balance isn't as good here but it is still easily manageable. The finish is pretty dry, lingering for quite awhile.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy, feel that leaves the pallet dry after each sip. This one torched my pallet for a few minutes there..

O - I really enjoyed this one, but I always enjoy the hoppy beers from hill farmstead. It had good balance and tasted great. One of the better beers of the day.

Served on-tap in South Central Mass.

Appearance is deep golden color, some cloudiness. Its` nose has orange, grapefruit, hops and pine. A smell that is quite enjoyable and builds excitement for this brew. Taste has citrus fruits, pine, hops. MF is even keel, there is bitterness in the finish. Overall a very good dipa from HF / CCB.

Served in a 10oz snifter for $6.50
Sampled 07JUL12

[A] Arrives with a bright white finger of fluffy foamy head resting above an orange creamcicle colored body. Light orange with a pale white softness. Opaque as all of Shaun's IPAs are. Lacing in thin sedimentary layers, connected every so often by a few craggily strands.

[S] Bitter orange and white grapefruit. Non-descript malt bill. High gravity is evident but not offensive. Straightforward.

[T] Bright citrus flavored hops with near bracing bitterness. Fleeting melon-like flavors poke thru every once in a while on the finish. Spiked honeydew and cantaloupe.

[M] Creamy smooth initially with a firm persistent carbonation immediately after - and thru to the finish. Semi-fine and moderately coarse. Medium body, leans dry.

[O] Man, the grading curve sure is tough for Hill Farmstead IPAs... To put it into perspective: Nor is probably better than 98% of DIPAs out there - but it doesnt even make Top 5 hop-centric beers in Hill Farmstead's portfolio.

Thanks to Jon's parents for bringing this back from Vermont! Awesome! Pours with a nice large fluffy head. The body is hazy orange.

The aroma is full of pine with a hint of juicy pineapple and citrus. The hops are potent.

The taste is sweet and juicy, with the hops not being overpowering but instead well integrated with the malt flavor. Zesty citrus rind goes well with the sweet malt. The finish is slightly drier, but still juicy.

This is medium bodied with a nice smooth carbonation.

Another hit from Hill Farmstead. Definitely worth the effort to get for a beer geek.

Poured from tap into a snifter glass at TJs in Paoli. They had their Hill Farmstead event yesterday, but this one was still on tap a day later.

A: A real hazy straw color with a very minimal white head. Glass lacing was full and sticky.

S: Tropical fruit smells with some caramel malt. Alcohol is detected on the nose.

T: Nice and tropical, just as expected. Huge notes of pineapple and other tropical fruits mix with the deep caramel malt and some slight pine (very slight). Beer turns a bit bitter but gets smoothed out by the alcohol and sweetness on the finish. Still, the mouth gets a prickly feeling and the flavors linger even through the sweetness and alcohol. Very nicely balanced DIPA.

M: Full, coating, prickly, sweet and a good amount of alcohol that warms.

O: Another fantastic beer by HF. This one carries some alcohol heat, but it is blended superbly with the rest of the beer and it's still really enjoyable.

Overall: Winner! Loved it and glad I got to try it.

Growler poured into a GI tulip

A - Golden, hazy yellow. Has a nice head that settled down to a rocky layer of foam.

S - Light honey sweetness mixed in with tropical fruits of tangerine and pineapple

T - Light honey sweetness hits the palate first. Then, there is a mix of tropical flavors with pineapple and orange. Next, on the finish, the is a slight bitter pine that cuts through that I didn't notice in the nose. Overall, nicely flavored and balanced IIPA that brings a nice mix of flavors.

MF - Light body overall but has plenty of carbonation that gives this a nice, thick mouthfeel. This actually works out well for the beer as it makes it easy to drink while still having a nice thick body you expect from the style.

O - Overall, a solid DIPA from Hill Farmstead. I was really impressed by the mouthfeel and the array of hops t hat show themselves is this one.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at CCB tasting room. Poured into snifter.

A: Hazy light orange brown in color, with a beautiful white head. Nice amount of visible carbonation for a DIPA.

S: Wow, this smells good. Nose is tropical fruit and citrus hops, a little grassy, with caramel malts.

T: Hops dominated (of course) - mango, peach, tropical fruits, orange rind - with sugary caramel malts.

M: Lighter mouthfeel than typical for a DIPA. Nice amount of carbonation on the tongue. Alcohol is essentially absent. Culminates in a bittersweet finish that hangs around for a bit.

O: This is really good. Another excellent beer from Hill Farmstead in a collaboration with CCB.

Review from notes taken at Cigar City Brewing taproom on 7/15/12. Poured on draft into a Cigar City snifter.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy light golden color with a 1 finger fluffy snow white head. Excellent lacing.

Smell: Grassy and floral hops with a touch of grapefruit.

Taste: Pine, grapefruit and lemon zest with a sweet citrus background. Aftertaste is bitter citrus. Very well-balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium-to-full-bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: Good drinkability, especially for a beer with 9.2% ABV.

Overall: Excellent beer overall. I feel fortunate to have been in Tampa when CCB had this one on draft. An excellent double IPA and one that you should definitely try if you have the chance.

On tap at Tria Rittenhouse in Philly on 7/13/12. Served in a tulip.

Pour: Hazy straw orange with two fingers of white head.

Smell: Grapefruit and pine burst out. Very inviting.

Taste: Piney and citrusy with a light bready maltiness. Peppery on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Very juicy and not overly bitter. Rice adds a great dry aspect on the finish that leaves you craving another sip.

Overall: Great collab from Cigar City and Hill Farmstead. Delicous

Yay, a new Hill Farmstead DIPA treat!

A: Pours hazy orange with nearly 2 fingers of white fluffy head. Moderately good head retention, leaves a ton of lacing.

S: Fresh hop juice. HUGE tropical fruits: Pineapple, mango, a little grapefruit. Lots of pine, some floral notes, and just a touch of herbal dankness. Pungent with a sweet candy aroma in the background. Can't wait to get into this one.

T: For the first time ever, a HFS beer doesn't taste as good as the nose. More herbal and dank than the nose suggested, the pine and grapefruit are more forefront. Moderate to light bitterness for the style. Touch of sweetness, though it does have a slight candy quality. Dry and piney finish.

M: Medium body, moderate to slightly high carbonation. Crisp finish. Extremely resinous. Not all that clean, though fairly drinkable for a 9% DIPA.

O: This is probably the least favorite DIPA I've had from Shaun... though it's still damned good and better than what most brew.

A bigger 2 finger white head that has great rentention. Hazy yellow and orange body that looks pretty nice. A ton of lacing is left all around the glass after the head finally came down. Very close to 5

S Tropical fruits take charge. Pineapple, tangerine and oranges and other fruits make this scent really really nice.

T Nice sweetness throughout and the bittering hops pick up toward the end. Stays sweeter all the way through while the bitterness lays low. The tropical tastes are unbelievable but would like a little more bitterness. With that said, still an unbelievable IPA.

M Medium feel with similar medium carbonation on the tongue. Drinks really well.

O Really nice IPA. I didnt really have any expectations for the Nor and this made me smile. Would like some more bitterness in the taste but still a top notch DIPA. Another great IPA from Shaun and the rest of Hill Farmstead.

Special thanks to Zach for hooking this up. 2L growler, out of a pint glass.

A- Light golden color, that is quite murky. It forms a healthy 2 finger white head when poured. Has a nice warm glow to it.

S- Amazing, absolutely stinks of fresh grassy hops and citrus. Mostly lemony tangerine notes to me, with a touch of pine. It literally is like sticking your nose in a bag of hops.

T- Very smooth and full, with the initial flavor being some sweet Mango/Tangerine flavor. It then transitions to fresh hoppy flavors, heavier on the pine in the aftertaste.

M- Full body, and full flavored. The mouthfeel is very complex, and interesting. Nice hoppy aftertaste.

O- Another killed DIPA from Hill Farmstead. The fresh hop flavor and smell is almost unmatched. Great work Shaun!

Fantastic fresh growler from today's Hill Farmstead release.

Incredible appearance that is a cloudy yellow hay with degrees of radiance. Grapefruit in color. Just incredible.

Smeels are Floral, grapefruit, lemony, incredibly balanced. Slightly buttery as well. Very bright.

Super slick mouthfeel in a very good way. The head is like cake batter and just lingers. Incredible taste - hops are exploding. Super creamy, buttery. Really well balanced.

As a non IPA person this is amazing. On par with any double IPA available

Guest Brewery on tap at Cigar City.

A: Poured a real hazy yellowish, orange with a very large white head. Awesome lacing retention that just clings to the glass.

S: What a tropical bomb, oodles of pineapple, apricot, mango and grapefruit.

T: Tastes like it smells to a tee. Awesome tropical notes just smack the palate silly. Has a sweet aftertaste that offsets the citrus perfectly.

M: Can barely taste the alcohol, very easy drinking. This could be deadly after a couple of beers.

O: My first Hill Farmstead brew and I'm totally on board with this brew. Excellent DIPA.

Growler thanks to m100, poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a very hazy orange, with a half inch white head. Very sticky lacing.

S: Very tropical smelling. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange. Very nice.

T: Loads of citrus up front. Bitterness cuts the tropical fruit, but it still manages to finish sweet. Slight alcohol taste at the end, but subtle for such a big DIPA.

M: Creamy, full bodied brew. Carbonation is just right.

O: Another very solid offering from HF. I continue to be extremely impressed with their IPA/DIPAs, and this one is near the top.

On tap at Hill Farmstead and from a fresh growler.

Appearance: I love the look of this beer. Pale yellow with a white sticky head. Lacing clings to the glass. The look of HF IPAs is outstanding.

Smell: A blast of tropical fruits. Reminiscent of other Hill Farmstead DIPAs but with a nice unique twist. The hops smell so fresh and vibrant.

Taste/mouthfeel: Tropical fruits with a touch more dankness here than in the aroma. Not too much as it's still very tropical. The high alcohol is hidden incredibly well. I feel it quickly but never really taste it. This is delicious. Creamy with plenty of carbonation from my growler. Cheers to Phil on the growler fill skills. There was no visible air between the beer and the swingtop.

Overall: Yet another fantastic DIPA from Hill Farmstead (and Cigar City). Shaun (and Dan) consistently pump out my favorite hoppy beers. Beers like this will keep the 6 hour round trip as a monthly (more like every couple weeks) habit. Well done.

Picked up a growler from HF.

A - hazy orangish yellow with a nice head. Beautiful.

S - Fresh tropical fruit, pinnaple and citrus notes. Not overpowering. balanced.

T- Very balanance hop and flavor profile fruit forward with tropical pinnaple and citrus notes with a lingering sweet finish. a little more malt and alcohol detected that most HF DIPA's but just barely. I liked that you can detect the rice used as well. I'd say the flavor profile is slightly more one dimensional then some other DIPA's from Hill but not in a bad way. Still incredibly delicious.

M - for a beer with this high of ABV it is surprisingly refreshing and drinkable. A cleaness to the mouthfeel and overall taste experience that is very enjoyable. Excellent carbonation.

Overall - A terrific DIPA from Hill. I hope they continue to make it as it is a nice addition to a stable of world class DIPAs.
