as i said got to visit hill farmstead and even try lots of their rare brews had to take a while to take it all in....
this one a rare saison release poured from a sample release looked to have strong carbonation lacing died quickly though
smell did not enjoy too much intense spice on the saison nose and also could detect the booze the alcohol was not hidden by the nice hops or spices or herbs
taste fell short on this one it had a wierd sour tanginess in the end and a strong alcohol character however a nice pleasant clove and pepper taste
decent mouthfeel but weighted down by the strange character in the nose and taste
overall not my favorite of their offerings

Working through a backlog of reviews. Sampled at the 1st Anniversary party. Nothing particularly novel to say about this beer if you're familiar with Phenomenology of Spirit and Flora (Batch 1 or 2)...
Pours a dark, cloudy amber with a retentive off white head. Strong nose of wood and brett, some spice and dark fruits/wine present. Flora does a nice job of balancing out the intensity of the barrel from PoS and adding some depth to the flavor. Strong malt body with dark fruit, bread, and light funk finishing with subtle wine flavors. Light bodied with high carbonation and funk throughout. Very nice blend!

"A blend of our Phenomenology of Spirit and Flora."
On tap at the Hill Farmstead Anniversary Celebration. Served in a Hill Farmstead long-stem tulip.
Pours a dark amber color with a good off-white head and nice lacing as it went down the glass. The nose is fairly funky with quite a bit of brett and some darker malts. A bit of leather and lots of wood. Some dark fruit type character. The flavor carries moderate bready malt along with some funk, light roast, and some mild fruit. Body is light with really nice carbonation and a good funky feel. Really a nice blend that I thoroughly enjoyed.
