Part of a mix-a-six I grabbed last week in South Carolina...
Bottle into nonic.
So a 7.3% ABV pale ale?! I can't wait. Pours a ruddy, rusty, and unappealing brown color. Thin film of tannish bubbles. Spotty lacing.
Smells piney. Perhaps some European hops used here providing a little dry spicy character? Some toffee and caramel with a dry toasty and roasty malt.
Mild bitterness, but a sticky sweet toffee-like finish is not working me.
Feels ok-- in fact, the feel is the best aspect of this beer; medium-light body with fair carbonation.
Overall-- meh. This is a pass. It isn't the word thing I've ever drank, but it's pretty low on the list when the category is pale ale (or even ipa due to the high ABV!).

Poured into a standard pint glass, color is copper, head is off white.
Smell is pretty neutral, light pale malt and muted bitterness from hops
Taste is mild caramel malt, light biscuit. Overcome. By the bitterness
Mouthfeel is a little harsh, hard to distinguish the strength. Is this really 7%?
Overall, odd brew, starts a little muted and harsh from the bitterness, would like more aromatic hops or additional malt sweetness

A - clear orangish amber with a quarter of an inch of off white head that is soft, loose, and well retained.
S - bread, alcohol, citrus, caramel, yeast, oranges
T - bread, caramel, citrus, alcohol, dark fruit, raisins, slightly herbal and mildly bitter finish.
M - medium to full bodied, very warm, almost burns in the finish, well carbonated
This is an odd APA. It has some APA characteristics, but at this ABV, character and warmth it fits more of a strong ale category. Overall, though it wasn't bad. Probably worth checking out especially if your a North Carolinian.

Clean amber/pale orange color; richer and more malty than other pale ale's; cereal, herbs, and walnut mid palate, long tart herbal finish. this is what i have found in very good english ESB's you can't get in the U.S.
A great pub beer with fish & chips, BBQ Pork, Black & Blue Burgers.

12oz bottle into pint glass.
Pours a cloudy medium amber color with off white head.
Nose is grassy, slightly piney, and just a hint of citrus. Also fairly malty and biscuity.
Taste is strong! My first impression was holy crap this thing has a bite for a pale ale. Strong caramelly malt zip with a little bit of a boozy punch. Hops stand up to malt, but malt is definitely the strongest flavor here.
Aftertaste is almost pure malt... slightly syrupy and grainy tasting. Moderate carbonation.
Overall an okay malt-forward pale ale, but nothing special. Fairly smooth and decently balanced, but just not an exceptional beer.

Aroma (6/12): Resinous hops. Bready malts. Clean, no esters. Hop aromas are moderately strong but nondescript.
Appearance (3/3): Clear orange with white lace, fairly weak poor retention.
Taste (8/20): Bitter, resinous hops taste with grainy malt taste. Some fruity esters. Dry, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel (3/5): Medium-light body, medium-high carbonation, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Astringent finish is unpleasant.
Overall (5/10): Good grain flavors, although slightly too big for the style. Hop bitterness is borderline excessive, and hop flavor is one-dimensionally bitter and adds astringency, with less aroma than desired. Consider adding more late hops/dry hopping to increase hop flavor/aroma without adding to bitterness or astringency. Also watch for high-carbonate water increasing hop bitterness, if applicable.

12 oz bottle poured into my Mother Earth (NC) pint glass
Burnt orange/amber color with one finger white head and patchy lacing down the glass
Aroma is solid citrus hops and biscuity malt
Taste is a great malt/hop blend - initially a bit hop forward (mostly citrus variety) then blends into a firm malt profile with a bitter bite/finish.
Medium body and carbonation was spot on.
This was a surpise pick up for me. People around here (NC) rave about thomas creek, but this is the first offering I have REALLY enjoyed. I will grab this again as a very solid pale ale for the price.

The aroma reminded me of pine or cedar and
citrus bitterness.
The apperance is dark brown with a little
lace around the glass.
The taste is a medium citrus hops, with a
bread like malt.
The feel is bitter going down on a citrus
note.
One of my favorite's that I like to keep
around.

12 ounce bottle poured into a shaker pint. Slightly hazy amber with next to no head and zero lacing.
Smells of light metallic hops and some cereal grains. Heftier feel than I expected, but the flavor is pretty much what the nose advertised. Plenty malty, tame metallic hops. Perhaps more of an English than American pale. Neither offensive nor noteworthy.

Had a tulip at Spinnerstown Hotel for $6. Not a bad beer for a post-ride drink. It had the malt and hops balance of a normal pale ale, but with the character amped up with the extra strength. There was a strong bready malt with caramel and crust, then classic citrus hops with grapefruit. The body was understandably a touch heavier, but overall quite tasty.
