I assume that this is the same beer as the listed as "Hopscotch" here. Maybe combine listings? Not a bad beer, slightly peaty and a nice blast of hops. Hop more brews make it up this way.

Appearance- Pours up a little more than a finger but has pretty lousy retention. The head is a light beige while the body is a dark amber/maroon which appears as a dark amber with hints of maroon and crimson when held up to the light. No lacing is left behind.

Nose- Fairly typical for a Scotch ale nose but a little too subdued. Caramel, brown bread, maybe some brown sugar and molasses. Most of this fades quickly and shows caramel to be the most dominant. Gives the aroma some presence but not much complexity. Faint notes of raisin. Swirling shows a slight sour note but nothing else.

Taste- Starts off with light fruit esters (mostly raisin) which is quickly supplanted by caramel. Starts to show big notes of grain with an almost rye quality. Not quite what I expected. Not necessarily bad but different from the typical Wee Heavy. It is true that this beer describes itself as “Scottish Inspired” and “dry-hopped” but I don't get much hops at the moment. Tiny note of popcorn after the caramel. Seems a little thin and also lacks presence and complexity. Some brown bread but this beer is really light compared to the Scotch ales I've had. Slight citrus around edges and slight woodiness are the only signs of hops that I get. Average to above average at the moment. No flaws but nothing to really interest the palate. Some hints of cola?

Mouthfeel- Light to medium bodied when it should be much thicker and the carbonation would be more appropriate if it were so. Reminds me a little bit of flat Coke.

Drinkability- Very easy to drink but there isn't much about the beer to compel me to do so. Around 5 bucks for a bomber. It's reasonable but I won't be buying it again. One plus is that it doesn't really show any of its alcohol.

Overall- Average to above average. No flaws and is inoffensive. If you like Scotch Ales, I would bypass this beer. If you don't care much for styles and want something easy to drink, this will do.

Pint at The Triangle Bar, S.Salem. only $3 Deep brown ..kinda murky but hard to tell in the bar, small tan head. Nice caramel, malt aromas..some chocolate and resiny hop. Smooth caramel/chocolate/ toffee tastes..very smooth and so easily drinkable for its strength. Enjoyed 3 pints before i knew it..i certainlly felt it walkng home!
